To Create Life

So you wish to learn how to bring the dead back to the living? This is the pursuit I have taken with my life and these are what I have learned. This tome is rare, and only my most loyal and devoted students ever get to read one as they try to add their own experiments to the cause to finally bring the dead back to life. Take special care when reading this for it's effects on the mind are unknown, and if it were to fall into the wrong hands the tool for knowledge could easily become a tool for war.

(Keep in mind this is done as through the eyes of a medieval, although highly educated, person. So not everything is correct, and I don't know that much about the human body as well so this is logic piled with BS. Also this is VERY long.)

Introduction

Resurrecting the dead is often seen as a taboo or forbidden practice. I say these are labels placed by those who are afraid of science. This is information that could change the way we live our lives. The afterlife is unknown, but out world here is proven to exist just by our being here. If we could crack the code, death would become an option, a thing of the past. We may also be able to prevent aging, changing the world in a utopia where death and aging are no longer a part of humanity.

Of course as with everything there are certain untold boundaries. Rules and regulations that should be followed. This information should not be used for self gain. The benefit of mankind must come first and foremost. We must not repeat the mistakes and the horrors that were seen by the Lich King. This is science not religion, the ability to resurrect the dead is not a miracle, but an application of the right tools parts and know how.

If you've come into possession of this book then I have probably already deemed you worthy, if you are the proper owner. If this book is stolen or given to anyone who is not a follower of the School of Thought it's contents must be left unread. I ask this of your compassion and the part of you that wants to see mankind survive no matter how small that part is inside of you.

Chapter 1- The Human Body

The human body is the most important part of this procedure. Even though the brain can die, it can still function for a short period of time after the body has passed. This is the physical part that must be revived, once it is functioning again the mind should function on it's own.

The human body is still unknown despite the deep research even I myself have gone through. It's essence, it's structure, it's contents still a greater part of mystery. Sure I could tell you what the femur is or where the bone joints connect, and how the body draws in air through tissue inside the chest, but even I can not explain their design and how they function. It has come to my attention that sight is the issue. Although the inside of a humans lung looks smooth, it is obviously not the case. The surface feels bumpy and there seem to be small holes in the sides like chambers of a room. When a fine pointed object is run across the sides lightly a very light resistance can be felt then it passes and meets resistance again. Apparently there is more to the lungs then we can see, no matter how close you get to it. And I recommend against sticking your face close to the lung, as it does not have a pleasant smell.

Now the important thing is how limbs function. I know that each part has a certain purpose, but I am unsure how it is told to do so. While observing a dead body I noticed that someone who died with their fist clenched would not undo their grasp as easily as it is to change the direction the arm is facing. Of course it is known bodies stiffen when they die, so perhaps the fist stiffens quicker then the rest of the body. Perhaps due to their smaller size, although toes, which are smaller, do not seem to share the same property. There is something unseen that gives the living the ability to command their limbs, and it isn’t due to muscle or bone.

If that were the case even the dead would be easy to move around. Again the problem is most likely our limited sight. I hypothesis that if observing a living brain was possible, as the patient moves their limbs, we might see the brain flex and unflex accordingly. Again, however, the brain is more of a muscle and if this were the case myself flexing and unflexing the brain should get the desired effect, but I have tried and it has not worked. Perhaps as with the lungs there is something even smaller that I can not see.

Chapter 2- The Human Mind

This is the most difficult and possibly the only thing that will never be completely discovered, most defiantly not in my time despite the countless hours of research I have dedicated to this most interesting organ.

This is the most trouble, and this causes my experiments to fail time and time again. So far I have only been able to create undead, and failed to bring life back to the dead. Their minds must have been damaged, or something that I can not account for is missing from the equation.

The mind itself is the foundation and pinnacle of the persons character. I believe that people who turn to a life of crime have a damaged mind, and that people are all born life loving and generous. Be warned about dropping your child on their head or causing any sort of damage to the skull while they are being raised. If this is true they should grow up noble, happy, and caring.

Now when encountering a dead bodies brain there are immediately important things to notice. The color of the brain is grey, despite the popular belief that the brain is colored pink. It does not lose color to death, even brains of recently dead people are colored grey. Only children's mind being grey am I unsure about as I am not about to remove the skull of a new born child to find out dead or alive. The brain also has wrinkles, and some have more then others. Now we are undergoing tests of the intelligence of our test subjects before they are killed to see if this is shown anywhere on the brain. Although not yet solidly proven it seems that the smarter a person is the more wrinkles they have. Once again I am unsure about infants for the obvious reasons.

Also to side note, I believe that if this is true you can determine a persons intelligence by feeling the top of their head for bumps and other such oddities. If you wish your intelligence to be read in order to further the pursuit of science or just to know how you measure up seek me out. Other things may be possible to find out as well.

Now the brain must remain in tact at all times. If a brain is removed, or damaged the dead will not come back. Slight damage may be allowed but if you plan on resurrecting the dead body I recommend you do not touch the skull at all.

Chapter 3- Bone Replacement

The act of bone replacement is doable. A kneecap was the first successful known bone replacement, although I did not perform it myself or even witness it. All I can confirm is that there was no kneecap when the person left as I had removed it myself, and when they came back they did infact have a new one. I can again confirm this, as I saw the new kneecap with my own eyes and both the old and new kneecaps are on display at my estate in Giblot City.

Now the tricky part is bones are picky. Large important bones, such as the ones in our arms can not be replaced. They can be put into the same spot where the arm bone once was, but the arm still will not function. The only difference is instead of a limp arm you would have a solid arm once again. Kneecaps seem to be a special case since they act more like a wedge then an actual movement demanded part. Although without a kneecap your lower leg will not work, it is presumed that anything from a rock to a finely cut piece of wood could replace the kneecap. This has not been tested recently, but suspected to be soon. There is also an elbow joint which works the same way, and a few other small wedge like bones in various parts of the body that should be able to be replaced. Anything demanding an actual function other then leverage will not work.

Chapter 4- Blood

Ah, Life's Essence, the nourishment of gods and demons. Of course gods and demons are just simple folklore used to calm the masses and give meaning to their lives while knowledge and logic is cast aside. This is important to everything concerning the human body. Without it our bodies could not survive. Although given the look of blood you would assume any other liquid would suffice this is not true. Water, oil, even sweat and saliva are not replacements for blood. Why this is I once again chalk up to being unable to see some key elements with the naked up. It is confirmed that the heart makes blood, which is why a blow to the heart will kill. Blood's purpose is believed to fuel our bodies, although that's what food is for. We can not live off blood, not even others, we need the nutrients of meat and vegetables although I recommend against eating meat as it requires killing the beautiful animals.

Now while performing tests or operations it is important to know that the loss of a large amount of blood results in death. The first sign of letting out too much blood would be the fainting of the provider, although they often pass out before this point due to the large amounts of pain so this is not a reliable factor. It is known the body contains 10 pints of blood, and the loss of more then 2 results in fatigue, but while operating your not really concerning on how many pints of blood have been lost. I am however currently working on an operation table design to allow blood to be drained from the subject into a glass labeled with how much blood has been lost. This should increase the survival rate of subjects tremendously.

What should you do with that lost blood? Well put it back. It is possible to replace lost blood with more blood, but only under certain conditions which are still unknown. The body seems to be very picky when it comes with blood, so when you have a beaker full of 2 pints of blood from the subject, put it back in. Now don't just dump it into the wound as that doesn't work, and just makes a mess where you are working. Instead you must feed the blood into the body where only a light wound is implicated. Nothing larger then a scratch. Now this is tough, but important. If the wound is bigger then a scratch then the likely hood of it working has dropped tremendously. There is a certain type of grass that grows that is hollow on the inside. It usually has to be imported, and comes at a bit of a high price, but is reusable and efficient. Just make a small hole in the arm, place the tip of the grass inside the hole and let the blood flow through the grass into the body. Once again this should keep the subjects survival rate in the higher 60's rather then lower 40's, and that's good. Although they are test subjects they are still human beings and unless we plan on bringing them back from the dead we should try our best to keep them alive.

Chapter 5- Test Subjects

Now test subjects are a tricky situation. You need humans, there is no doubt about that, but what is being done in the name of science wont sit well with the many. So to remedy this I suggest using condemned criminals as test subjects. I'm sure the judge of your land would not mind allowing you to deal with the convicted that they were going to kill anyway, and it's in the name of science. Now when you get into theocracies this becomes a bit trickier since their religion rarely condones such acts.

As an alternative, there are orphans, which I myself would never suggest using, and maybe you can find some volunteers. Also if someone recently passed away where you are grave robbing is not out of the question. Science must push forward no matter what the cost, although rules apply.

Chapter 6- The Art of Resurrection

Now the act of resurrecting the body. This is always a challenge, which has become to a form of art. When in great stress such as presented with a life threatening incident, a fluid flows through the muscles and gives the person a short boost of strength. It is possible to harvest this fluid, and it is an important factor in reviving the dead.

Now finding out how to harvest the fluid itself is a task that will take years to perfect. Even I have trouble from time to time and I've discovered this mystery fluid, which I call Botox. It's name is a combination of it's traits, it gives a short boost in strength, reaction, and will power but it requires more of the body so it can be deemed toxic. Now to harvest this fluid you must go to the key limbs. The legs and arms would suffice as the rest that receives this liquid is by the vital organs and we don't want to mess with those and end up killing our supplier.

Now the toughest part is introducing them to a life threatening situation, where instead of panic they get the botox through their system. Now since restraining a person makes them believe they can not resist what is coming for them this makes it tough to have the botox running AND harvest it. Also a side note, I have seen people physically break through chains while induced with botox. Be cautious concerning your safety and others.

Now the best method is to leave their arms tied down with the person standing up and their legs untied. Despite being tied down they seem to think they can run away, once again they may break through the bonds and may in fact get away. What you present as a life threatening situation is up to you, and there is no greater method as each person is different. Once you have found the right method for your current provider, a deep cut down to the bone must be made where you wish to extract the fluid and a glass placed down to the bone. You will get only blood, but this is where the botox resides. Keeping the blood alive is even harder, so I suggest you harvest the materials someplace cool, such as in an underground basement or facility.

Once the blood is taken and placed into the glass immediately cover it with something, or put the blood into a small cylinder tube. Cylinder tubes are rare, and usually have to be custom made by the glassblower. Since this encompasses most of my research I have a large stockpile of tubes as well as a personal glass blower making them and the other tools I need. There is also a blacksmith, and carpenters so if any supplies are needed you may come to me and ask for them. Now we don't want anything to fall into the container of blood, and it must be placed where the sun is never present. If you are working underground this shouldn't be an issue except by the door.

Now you have the magical mineral, but there is still more to do. Not only must the subjects bodily conditions meet the requirements but also the weather. Take the lifeless body, and place them on something preferably metallic, something that would attract lightening. You should be able to see where this is going. If you can not raise the body to the lightening by means of a large building or a pulley system used to raise the lab table, which should be made out of metal, use a large metal rod taller then any tree or building. IT MUST BE METAL! The lightening will strike the rod and travel down to the body, but make sure the body is not placed on the ground or else the lightening would be wasted.

Now before you do this, you must inject the extracted botox into the lifeless body’s heart. Then when accompanied with a shock by lightening the body will rise again and return to the earthly plain. Sadly they only return as undead and to perfect the technique still requires more tests and study.

Chapter 7- Undead Intervention

Progress has been slow with my research, no matter how many times I try to improve upon my technique all I get are undead. Scores of undead have been attacking me lately in retaliation of being brought back to life. I've considered ending my experiments and destroying my research in creating life, but only for a moment. The continuous attacks by the undead repeatedly killing my most potential students is beginning to take a toll on my mind. I do not know if I will finally crack and give in and allow life to remain the gods work, but if I ever decide to quit make sure you keep these tomes safe despite what I may say.

I've recently married, and am hoping this wont bother my research any. Despite going to my lab in Drenga under the family mansion for our honeymoon I have still been able to practice my art. No ground breaking progress yet, but they do seem to be able to pick out a target and stick with them even when surrounded. They've recently taken an interest in me, and they have chased me and went after me specifically in battle. As hypothesized this gives more stable proof that the brain does continue to work once the body returns from the dead. They are able to identify and follow a target, but it is uncertain how comprehensive their mind is at such a stage. Finding out will most certainly be dangerous, but in due time a few more answers should become present.
