Veronica after Belegmon (After a large battle in Belegmon, Veronica, Countess of Malor seeks out Willem, in response to post battle remarks he made several weeks prior. These are the exchange of messages.)

Veronica sends a message to everyone in the region of Belegmon:

"Wow a great battle. Glad no one of my unit got wounded.

"Say Willem of Falasan, you promised to bring me a bottle of wine for the next time we met in Combat."

Veronica opens her backpack and opens up a band of linen cloth, inside it are 2 glasses. "Seems like these 2 survived the battle. Care for a drink then?"

Willem responds:

Countess Veronica -

It is true that I did offer to bring you a bottle to share the next time we met in combat, but I didn't know that you were coming to this party.

Although I do have a bottle with me, I don't know what the present state of it is. Your men did quite a job in Belegmon. I have just rallied my troops and find that seven of them have gone to the great beyond and that nine of them are wounded. My healer is working on some of them now. I should be spending time with the wounded and keeping an eye out for hunting parties, rather than opening the bottle right now.

Even though the attackers won today's battle, I do respect the tenacity of Eston's men throwing themselves against Falasan, knowing that in the long run, Falasan will stand strong.

Another other reason that I cannot share the bottle with you (if it is still whole) is that recently I have found Troop Leader, also from Menedor, that I'd like to get to know better. I feel that my time and wine might best be used in pursuing that path. She might feel the same about it.

Finally, I must take my men to Barad Falas so that they might receive better healing treatment. I find that my single healer is overwhelmed in the field.

Please do not think of me a coward, either by retreating or by not meeting you, especially since you have laid out the linen and glasses. Your men might not see my approach as being respectful.

I shall try to pack two bottles of wine the next time.

Again, on the field of battle, well played.

With kindest regards, Willem

To which Veronica responds:

I understand,

For you this is not the appropriate time to open up a bottle of wine. Your men are wounded, and dead. It is not a time to celebrate, for you that is.

Although I do find it a pity for I was looking for some distraction after all these battles.

I wish you best of luck in the future sir Willem, Perhaps we will meet again.

But you must forgive me, I will hold a party on my own then. I heard Rumors of Barrels of Barony of Makar beer being in the vicinity. Perhaps I can per sway some to share it with me.

- yours

Veronica Countess of Malor

Willem responds:

Countess Veronica -

Thank you for understanding my current position. I'm assuming that we will meet again, the next time under different circumstances, I hope.

You need not ask for forgiveness for holding a party on your own. You deserve it. I have not hear rumors of the Barony of Makar beer being near, but I have heard rumors of Barony of Makar beer not being good.

As it turns out, the small bottle of wine that I had in my pack was broken. The leggings that I had it wrapped in are now stained. I can only hope that my men don't start calling me Willem Purple Legs.

The offer still stands that I will get some fine Menedor wine to you. I shall ask my family to get a few bottles to Lasten's Longbowmen, one of Falasan's militia units stationed in Menedor. If they can make arrangements to get them to the Archery squad of the Fiddler Guards, one of the Eston militia in Amdor, perhaps the wine can then be transported to your estate in Malor. I'll send a few bottles, assuming that some will be pilfered and other broken along the way. I know that some of the Falasan couriers can be a bit careless and sometimes light-fingered. I will include some coins to help grease the passage. Any messages that you can send to the Militia in Amdor to let them know that this is a personal gift and no trickery will be employed, that would help. I will ask my brother, Freidroch to do the same in Menedor.

Someday, I expect that we will share a bottle, but I don't really see that happening in the near future, although I hope that it would.

Until next time, Willem
