Gale's Notes on Hannibal's Reports

From BattleMaster Wiki

As requested by Lord Hannibal, Avatar of Light, I have studied the inscriptions in his report and made notes on the reports...well, here they are.

p.s. The dotted notes are my own thoughts and "suggestions/questions"

Part 1

- Temple of Light is built on the site (or ruins)* of an ancient civilization

-> Hannibal's brother, Hasdrubal discovered the place
   not long ago which is a "hole" in the ground)
-> A mysterious force keeps pulling Hannibal back to the
   site after he first studied it (as if someone or
   something is calling for help)

Part 2

- Hannibal's own troops were acting "suspicious" when he went down the "hole" to investigate (as if they seem to know something he doesn't)

- The first room is about 10m high and 20m wide in a pyramidal shape

-> As if he came down through the top of a pyramid

- There are paintings on the walls depicting humans fighting monsters

-Hannibal left after his first good look on the walls

Part 3

- Hannibal kept his finds secret from the rest of the world (for now)

- Hannibal went back and set up a more permanent "base of operations" at the centre of the first room

- There seemed to be no damage done to the paintings or artifacts in the room regardless of the age of the place

- There are pictures of people fighting monsters from other worlds

Part 4

North Wall: A book shelf with 10 books written in an unknown script
            similar to our own ancient language
East Wall: 10 swords pointing towards the North Wall
West Wall: 10 axes pointing towards the North Wall
South Wall: 10 bows pointing towards the North Wall
  • At this point, I would like to say that I'm pretty confused...how can the 10 bows on the south wall be pointing towards the north unless they are hanging from the wall (or ceiling)?

- The paintings on the walls seem to portray a story

Part 5

- Hannibal is starting to get "possessed" by the place (pyramid)

- Asdrubal is starting to think his brother is insane

- The pictures at the bottom seemed to be much smaller at the bottom than on the top so the viewer can get a good look without the need to climb to the top

- The paintings on the walls seemed to be created with technology much more advanced than ours

- The whole pyramid seemed to possess a warm feeling (heat)

Part 6

- The entire bottom row of the North wall depicts a huge battle

- The painting seemed to be extremely realistic

- Thousands of men on one side of the painting is getting ready to charge at those (a much smaller force) on the other side, who are in a fortress (the fortress in under seige)

-> There is water on the other side of the fortress
-> The men all wore similar armour and had similar expressions on their
   face
-> The flags and many of the seige engines are unknown

Part 7

- The next picture, depicting the charge, is on the East wall

- The setting sun cast a shadow on the soldiers and it seemed as if they are being cursed

- There are markings (possibly speech bubbles) next to some of the knights

- From the pictures in the battle, Hannibal now realized that this is a civil war

- The picture on the South wall shows the aftermath

- The sky is black and many people were slain

- The civil war had been won by the attackers but it seems that there was no victory (in its place, a great despair)

- The battle made Hannibal think of the civil war in Avamar

- The East wall showed the dead being buried in massive graves and that the place is still dark and the people distraught (as if they are all going to suffer a horrible fate)

- The soldiers are being rallied again for battle against some foreign forces

- People originally from the fortress are marching away from the scene (they are already very far from it)

Part 8

- The story continues up the walls but this time, all four wall depict a single picture - The picture depicts an entire world at a seemingly endless war - The sun seems dimmer as if "weakened by an unknown force" - There are writings underneath the paintings (perhaps explaining the events)

Part 9

- The next level showed the knights still at war, but a temple, shrouded in darkness, seems to be breeding a horde of monsters unlike anything seen in this world - The final level showed the horde destroying the armies of men and massacring the people of the world. It also showed the darkness from the temple engulfing the entire world. - At this point Hannibal decided to stop looking at the pictures and find translations to the books, however, after spending many weeks decoding the words on the text, he cannot find the exact words to match with the texts of the books. - After waking up one morning, Hannibal suddenly understood everything (devine intervention?)

Part 10

- "Each book was an indepth guide to becoming a knight of the religion" (directly from text)

Titles: 1. Integrity  2. Trust  3. Honour  4. Respect  5. The Path
        6. Courage    7. Weakness          8. Strength
        9. The Unseen Prophecies 10. The Seen Prophecies

- Integrity prevents a knight from being corrupted - Trust allows the knight to gain honour and respect - The Path is a journey that allows the knight to practise his ideals. After the journey is a set of difficult tests to ensure that the knight has the determination to continue - Strength teaches the knight about the ethics of combat

Part 11

- "No Space" is like a bubble of worlds and universes that when collides with other "No Space", "worlds within the bubbles would collide and unexpected things would happen" (directly from text) - The Pyramid seemed to have come to this world when another bubble collided with the bubble that contains this world

Part 12

- It seems that only veterans of the battlefield can read the texts of the books

Part 13

- To test the theory, Hannibal gathered 10 of the most prominent troop leaders from Fontan and gave them each a book to decipher - A few days after giving out the books, an anonymous letter arrived at Hannibal's place saying "The sacrifice of a leader will..."

Part 14

- In a meeting of the knights (who had received the books) each knight seemed to say that their book was the only one worth reading

-> This confirmed the theory that only veterans of the battlefield
   can read the texts of the books

- Hannibal and the knights swore to keep the matter silence until it is time to bring it out to the public - Hannibal also gave each of them access to information he learned from the books (before the said event) - Hannibal and some other knights started building the Holy Temple on top of the pyramid, occassionally, some other knights would come to help - Just before laying the final slab of the tile (on the floor) in completion of the temple, Lycastus and Hannibal (the last two remaining working knights as the others had gone off on other duties) saw the top of the pyramid as it had been - Beams of light made covered the top of the pyramid and made the words "Light of Fountain" - A white light suddenly came down from the sprire to hit Hannibal and Lycastus on the chest, then they (Hannibal and Lycastus) lost consiousness - When Hannibal and Lycastus woke up, Hannibal was granted the Shield of Light and the title "Avatar of Light", while Lycastus was granted the Sword of Light and the title "Founder"

Part 15

- In the next few weeks, Lycastus studied the books while Hannibal took to preaching the words of the Light to anyone who cared to walk into the Temple of Light - Hannibal and Lycastus discussed something during one night and came to the conclusion of funding the Light of Fountain (realm) - In this new realm, all knights will be able to vote on the topic, not a person to represent their ideals

*For those who believe in the true values of a knight;
*For those who believe in deciding their futures with both the vote
and the sword;
*For those who believe in the Books, the Temple of Light and its
Founder;
*For those who have the courage to fight against the odds;
*For those who will endure weakness and draw up strength from
within;
*For those who support what they know to be right;
*For those who want both a democracy and a Path to follow;
*For those who fought in the Great Battle;
*For those who have fallen;
*For the Light of Fountain;
Come join us. Your new Realm welcomes you, the honourable knights
of Fontan.
