DRAGON KIN RITUAL

The following is the Roleplay from Katayann Ogren to a fellow colonist whose personal path diverged from that of Katayanna herself. Katayanna looked upon those who began the journey to colonize as an extention of her family yet closer. They are to her Dragon Kin, More than family. More important than self.

Feel free to use as and example of a ritual of Dragon Kin.

Roleplay from Katayanna Ogren

Katayanna stares across the sea standing before a great bon fire build by her own hands. her dagger in her right hand, arms raised high above her head. She faces towards the east.

Raising her voice

"Powers and presences of the East, Old ones, mighty guardian of the direction of the East, Great Dragon Lord Saiyrs! I ask that you bear witness to my oath of Dragon Kin and protect Thalia Strongblade!"

Turning toward the South Katayanna raises her voice again,

"Powers and presences of the South, Old Ones, Mighty Guardian of the direction of the South, Great Dragon Lord Fafnir! I ask that you bear witness to my oath of Dragon Kin and Protect Thalia Strongblade!"

Turning toward the West Katayanna raises her vioce again,

"Powers and presences of the West, Old Ones, Mighty Guardian of the direction of the west, Great Dragon Lord Nailyon! I ask that you bear witness to my oath of Dragon Kin and Protect Thalia Strongblade!"

Turning toward the North Katayanna Raises her voice again,

"Powers and presences of the North, Old Ones, Mighty Guardian of the direction of the North, Great Dragon Lord Grael! I ask that you bear witness to my oath of Dragon Kin and Protect Thalia Strongblade!"

moving clockwise around the bon fire so that the bon fire is between her and the northern sea. Katayanna takes her dagger and makes a small cut upon her palm. Then Clenching her fist tightly allows a single drop of blood to fall into the fire.

"Hear me Great Dragon Lords, Great Guardians, by my blood have I made Thalia Strongblade my Dragon Kin! Protect her as you would protect me and guide her on her journey. Repay any that harm her 10 times and 10 times again! And Bring her Honor and Glory to rival all those around her. So mote it be!"

Katayanna then solemnly and in reverse closed the watch towers and sat by the fire drinking the last of the family mead that she had left. This would not be a night to celebrate. This was a night to reflect and remember and hope. She lifted her bottle in a private toast to her friend across the sea.
