The Rampant Lion/Yunari Interview
Interview with Lady Yunari, Countess of Beziers, of Perdan. Conducted May 25, 2006.
Could you tell us a little about your history? How long have you been in the realm of Perdan?
My history? Well, I suppose there is something there. I began my rise to nobility, when my family was still in Noritor Itorunt. It wasn't long before I realized that Ibladesh was indeed a cracking realm. Seeing this, I tried to start a rebellion, failed, and was banned. That also brought the banning of my brother Sargon from Ibladesh.
From there, I spent a week or so without a realm, then headed for Ubent. Can't say much about them, rather boring folk. After a couple weeks, I left Ubent and joined Perdan.
A couple months after that, my brother died in battle against the Itorunt nobles Manfred, Arudo the Hawk, and Tear'el. At that point I declared myself of the Four Lords Religion, a splinter religion of Ibladesh.
Two weeks after his death, I became Countess of Beziers, and three days later, I founded the East Island Dueling Association. All in all, I've been here for about 5 months.
What position do you currently hold in the Perdan government, and how long have you held it? Have you held any other positions?
I'm a Countess, and plan to be for some time, unless a better position arises. I suppose I've been a local lord for about two and a half months. No, just Countess.
How do you feel about the current war with Ibladesh, and the newly declared war with Itorunt?
How do I feel about it? I suppose I feel that it should be ended. Too many have died in this war, one of whom was close to me.
I wouldn't say newly declared, more like recently re-declared. I remember a time when we were at war with Ibladesh and Itorunt, before this. Itorunt had a ruler change and it was he that backed the relations. We were still at war, just not officially.
What is your opinion of the overall political status of the East Island? How do you feel Perdan fits within the overall political scene?
This continent is too, two sided. We need a third party... Someone to make this a bit more interesting. Light of Fountain presents some hope, but they seem too pro-neutral I think.
Perdan is relied apon too heavily by it's allies. Either we find another realm to side with us, or we will eventually fall. It's only a matter of time. Perhaps the new EIDA guildhouse in An Najaf (Light of Fountain) will better our relations with them.
If you were appointed the Queen of Perdan, what steps would you take to ensure the continued growth and prosperity of Perdan?
If I was, I suppose I would push for peace with the south. Or atleast for Quake to make his own decisions. Ibladesh is too heavily bonded with Sorcha, and even when she's not the Pontifex, she has considerable influence.
Tax reforms would help, or atleast looking at the way taxes are setup. Possibly a change in gov't if it could be done. I believe Republics have better tax setups, and Perdan has a thing for relatively free speech anyways.
