In every land, in every age, there are always tyrants that will prey on those who are weaker than themselves. Given free reign, they will spread their lies across the land. They build empires on a foundation of deceit, manipulation, and boundless ambition. Left unchecked these tyrants will devastate East Island, and all it's inhabitants, in wars without end. The Kingdom of Perdan will not stand idly by while the East Island is led into ruin and destruction. The Rampant Lion will stand forth as a beacon of truth regarding the travails of Perdan as it seeks to oppose those who would bring destruction upon our lands. As events in Perdan unfold, they will be chronicled here so all people on the East Island have access to an accurate, fair accounting of the events taking place in our world.
The only thing necessary
for the triumph [of evil]
is for good men to do nothing.

Queen Clarissa Captured, Later Released
During a recent battle in Bescanon, Queen Clarissa of Perdan was captured by Fontan forces. Two days later, after a series of negotiations between Lady Naira, Arch Priestess of Perdan, and Sir Teshup, Supreme Judge of Fontan, Queen Clarissa was released in exchange for the release from the Perdanese dungeons of five nobles of Fontan.

In another shocking turn of events, also out of the blue, Perdan and Yssaria have agreed to a cease-fire.

The terms are not laid out, but we can only hope this turns into peace and pressure Ibladesh into stopping, seeing as how their allies have decided to give up the hostilites. Peace will come, but I don't ever remember us fighting Yssaria, except once, and we still won. They are too far away, so it was almost like a cease-fire. Good, great.

Hail Queen Clarissa, she has done leaps and bounds for Perdan!! -- Atticus

In an interview earlier today, Queen Clarissa of Perdan released the following statement regarding the recent peace treaty between Perdan and Itorunt.

"As all nobles of Perdan know, and many of our good citizens, we have agreed to peace with the Kingdom of Itorunt. I hope this is the birth of a long friendship between Itorunt and Perdan, something we have not had together in the history of our realms."

We here at The Rampant Lion agree whole-heartedly with Queen Clarissa's statement.

Invasion repelled, Attackers routed!
Three cheers for the Perdanese army! In a long series of running battles, the army of Perdan has repelled, routed, and completely decimated a massive invading army of Sirionand Fontan troops. The invading army of over 2,500 men fell for the Perdanese trap and attacked the capital city of Partora. After an epic battle, then enemy troops were repelled from the city's high walls and thrown back. During the attack, the Perdanese reinforcements swept out from Perdan city and cut off the enemy's path of retreat in Brive. The reinforcing Perdanese troops also managed to catch some lagging enemy forces in Bescanon, denying them the critical reinforcements they needed to secure their escape.

Although the invaders managed to regroup and successfully swarm over the walls in a second attack, the majority of their forces were still scattered and routed. A mere handful were able to gain access to the city of Partora itself. Before long, the Perdanese reinforcements from Brive arrived and took care of the remaining enemy troops in the city. Over the next several days the Perdanese army harassed and harried the enemy as they attempted to flee back through Brive, Bescanon, and eventually to Troyes. Very few enemy nobles managed to make it to Troyes with any of their men left alive. Dozens of their nobles were wounded or imprisoned. The General of Sirion himself, Sir Boom Boomm, former Duke of Slimbar was captured in the attack on Partora. Several other region lordsof both Fontan and Sirion were seriously wounded or Captured.

In total, over 90 enemy nobles participated in the invasion culminating in the attack on Partora. That amounts to over one half of the nobles of both Fontan and Sirion put together! The vast majority of these nobles left their entire troop of men dead on the battlefield, dying while trying to escape to Troyes, or hunted down by the Perdanese forces. The massive enemy losses reduced the military strength of Sirion and Fontan to levels never before seen, even lower than the levels seen during the height of their long and bloody wars with Oligarch.

Hopefully Perdan has now demonstrated to these vultures the strength of her resolve to resist their incursions into our territory. Perdan will never surrender to the likes of these. We have resisted them time and again. They have left untold thousdands of their troops dead on Perdanese soil. We will continue to send them home, bloody and battered, as many times as it takes to convince them that Perdan is not the easy target she seemd just a few weeks ago!

I think there is something Perdan should do, with the ongoing war in the north.

I think we should move the capital to Perdan city. It's more well is well fortified, and it's closer to the front we are fighting on, so then we can finally go on offense up north.

We can't sit around and twiddle our thumbs waiting for them to come. I know were playing offensive downsouth, but If we weren't being cooped up north in either partora or Perdan, Partora wouldn't have been sacked for 12 hours.

We could destroy any Ibladesh raiding party they could to muster. I think with a little gusto and some luck, they could make it to Partora. But they wouldn't make it to Perdan, for sure. We could also move it up north to control the flip-flop states of brive and Bescanon. These 2 regions have become like a Clermont, switching hands constantly. It is a foothold in our empire, like Clermont is a foothold in Ibladeshs.

Of course, it would come with its disadvantages. A further walk to fight the Ibbys, but they seem to be coming north anyways. But since we have made peace with Itorunt, maybe Ibladesh and its little buddy Yssaria will stop soon too. It could also mean an easier looting of our capital, but we'd also have a force to stop it.

Now, i'm not really sure if this is allowed (some stuff I read in other newspapers discussion page) but it could also just be a move to tell pointy ears and the Fontan lapdoggies to beat it.

In a recent article, the editors of the Red Star Courier have published a rather long editorial regarding the state of the conflict between Caligus and Yssaria. At its core, the article makes the claim that Caligus is a dishonorable realm for several reasons. Among them is the fact that those scurvy scalliwags in Caligus won't just lay down and die.

Specifically, the Red Star editor claims the following: "The choice for Caligus is clear, some honor in defeat, or total dishonor leading to total destruction." The Yssarian demands for peace with Caligus include the surrender of Domus, the Caligan capital city. As Domus is also Caligus' only city, and none of their other remaining regions is a townsland region, that would mean the destruction of Caligus. Without a capital, the realm would soon die.

It seems to me that Yssaria has given Caligus a Hobson's choice: Kill yourselves [by surrendering your capital to us], or we'll kill you [by taking it from you]. In either case, the result is the same: The death of the realm of Caligus. Let's leave aside for a minute all the issues of who started what, and who atacked who/when/where. The peace treaty Yssaria is offering Caligus really isn't a peace treaty at all. It's an executioner's warrant. Yssaria is asking Caligus to do the honorable thing and show up at the gallows of their own free will. Only a suicidal fool would agree to that.

It is our opinion that it would be much better for Yssaria to offer Caligus a treaty that would allow them to survive as a realm, much like the Southern Federation did with Ubent. One possible option would be to take Aestus and Sordidus and leave Caligus with Domus, Scio, and Nascot. With only those three regions Caligus would be a threat to no one. Yssaria would have won. A second option would be for Yssaria to negotiate the return of Tokat from Light of Fountain to Caligus. It is a townsland region and could be used as the capital of the realm of Caligus. In this case, Yssaria would need to allow Caligus to retain Aestus and Sordidus, but that is hardly much of a concession. They are both low population regions with very little gold to offer. Yssaria would have won the prize region of Domus from Caligus. Either option provides Caligus a choice whether to live with their defeat, or die in battle, as Oligarch, Rancagua, and Avamar chose to do.

In any case the terms of the (so called) peace treaty being offered is, of course, up to Yssaria. But if they insist that the peace terms include the surrender of Domus, well... Call a spade a spade, is what I always say. Yssaria should at least be honest about it, and admit that what they seek is the complete destruction of Caligus. Don't expect the Caligans to fall all over themselves to be the first to agree to this so-called peace. After all, Yssaria really gives them no choice but to fight to the last man.

In a welcomed, but unexcpected of events, Itorunt and Perdan have agreed to a cease-fire, and eventually Peace.

Queen Clarissa and King Lucian have shown a willingness for peace. King Lucian also proposed a peace treaty to Ibladesh on behalf of Perdan, but Quake said no. Here are the terms: Instrument of Peace between the Kingdom of Perdan and the Empire of Itorunt

Being necessary to ensure the honourable settlement of conflict and embrace of peace in the south-west, the aforementioned agree to the following:

  • 1) The aforementioned will improve relations to peace.
  • 2) The Kingdom of Perdan will renounce all claims on the region of Clermont in favour of the Empire of Itorunt.
  • 3) The Kingdom of Perdan will offer the region of Bisciye to the Empire of Itorunt.
  • 4) The Empire of Itorunt will renounce all claims on the region of Lorient in favour of the Kingdom of Perdan.
  • 5) The Empire of Itorunt will not intervene in an aggressive fashion in the war between the Kingdom of Perdan and the Theocracy of Ibladesh, unless the continued independent existence of the Theocracy of Ibladesh be threatened.
  • 6) These terms may be renegotiated and confirmed at a later date with the consent of both parties.

Beautiful! Lovely! Perdan has made the right step to peace. This is one enemy that we don't have to worry about. I hope we can come to peace on all sides, with every enemy.
