The Tale of Perfection

There was a man.

This man had a name, and it was Was Is Will Yes No Beginning End First Last One Infinity (that is the literal translation of his name, in the ancient language it is simply Ot, and that is how he will be referred to throughout the story for the sake of length).

Ot was born outside to the meeting of the sun and the moon in midday. He has no father, and his mother vanished after his birth.

Ot lived in a village high in the mountains, among the hardworking men and loving women of the high country. Ot had no home, but simply lived with whichever family would feed him that night. He was the son of the entire village, and yet he had no parents. As Ot grew, his will grew as well, yet he had no desires for the future. As Ot filled his head with knowledge, his feeling of ignorance grew. Ot was given everything the village could give him, yet he was not satisfied. Ot was a paradox, the opposite of himself, and he hated it.

Finally Ot confronted himself. He left the village at the age of 17 to seek the answer to the paradox that is himself. First he traveled south, to the great trading cities of the river. There he found fortune and fame and all the material wealth he could ever hope to have.He spent 15 years of his life in that city, gaining and gaining but never having enough. Yet in his palace, high above the common people, Ot was not satisfied. He was a paradox, though he had everything, he could never have enough.

So Ot left his palace high above the people and went West, to the desert lands. There he lived with the tribal leaders in the scorching desert. There he gained knowledge of people and culture. Ot soon became the wisest of the tribal elders, despite his age. There he took a wife, and bore children and lived for 5 years. But people brought happiness and grief. Within people Ot found life, death, greed, pride, joy and sorrow. The feelings were a paradox, so Ot shed himself of his emotions and abondoned the life of the desert.

Ot moved North, to the wastelands of volcanoes and ash. There he tore off his clothes and wept in solitude under the shadow of the volcano. Ot bathed in ashes and burned his hair in his utter despair without emotion. He tore at his body and broke his soul. For 10 years Ot continued in this way until he understood that all pain eventually healed, just as death is replaced by birth. Thus death created its own paradox and Ot was forced to abandon his life under the shadow of the volcano.

Ot moved east, to the great forests. There Ot rested, for his soul needed healing and his body needed nourishment. The trees and the animals accepted Ot, and he felt love and acceptance. He had found the parents he had never known. There he rested for 5 years with the animals and the trees, regaining his health and his vitality. But in his rest, Ot could not find the answer to his paradox, so he left the forest to travel the earth in search of answers.

Ot traveled to every region of the land. To the southern islands and their wasteland brothers, and from the great plains and hills to the mighty lake and ocean. Ot traveled for 18 years until he was sixty. He gained knowledge and experienced all manner of life in the world.

At midday, exactly 60 years from the day he was born. Ot discovered the place of his birth, and on that day the sun and the moon met at midday. Ot had completed his paradox, himself. Ot no longer wanted, nor thirsted for knowledge, no longer knew happiness nor grief. He transcended time to exist on all planes and came into perfect harmony with the universe. All things smiled upon Ot for he was perfect. He became what he was created to be.
