The Order/Ancient history

The history of The Order goes back hundreds of years to the time of the Great Dragon. This dragon was huge and powerful, but tyrannical in every sense of the word, and he forced the people to worship him instead of their creator. So, in an effort to free themselves of this terrible beast, the primitive people of this continent gathered in Tarasac and found the bravest and most worthy of all the people in the land.

Eight were selected. Their names were Magnus, Uintesh, Irridia, Kayora, Lodril, Marouane, Arelien, Melanae. Each of these warriors represented the strongest of each part of Atamara. Arelien from the east, and the lands of the Shanandoah. Magnus, from the islands of the south and the great sea. Uintesh, from the central plains of the continent and the great lake. Irridia, from the southern shores and rolling hills. Kayora, from the deserts of the west, and the tribes that inhabit them. Lodril from the north, the mountains of fire and unending winter. Marouane, from the northern plains, home to many and open to all. Finally, Melenae, from the river country just south of the mountains, where the great cities of commerce and power were settled.

These brave souls went forth to destroy the terrible dragon, but the dragon indeed proved too much for them. The battle was terrible, and the fighting was fierce. Yet in the end the dragon proved to be too much for the heroes. He brought an end to their lives quickly and without mercy. In his frenzy he forgot one hero, Melanae. As he brought down Uintesh (the last of the fighters) he turned his great body just enough to expose his sole weakness, his heart. Melanae took her sword in her hand and threw it into the dragon's heart, kiling him on the spot. Unfortunately, Melanae died shortly after in the care of a nearby hermit. (This is how we know all this actually took place.)

Though the death of the dragon was apparent, there were many who still worshiped the dragon willingly, and did not believe the dragon to be dead. So, to prevent ignorance and stop dragon worship, the Order of Ered Luin was formed. The Order started strong, and much knowledge was learned, recorded, and passed on to the people. Yet dragon worship still remained - it even became more twisted and turned into worship of other worldly beings (like Da Goat). These heretical beliefs continued to spread until the world rejected The Order and forced them into hiding.

The heretics began a "cleansing" to destroy the last of the The Order and bring complete dominion over Atamara into the hands of the dragon worshipers. Unfortunately, not all tales end happily. The Order became wrought with spies and double agents, and their secret hideouts were slowly discovered and destroyed. The last few members of The Order were killed in their secret temple underneath Tarasac. Their knowledge and faith were considered lost until Tsubaki came along and rediscovered what had been forgotten and dismissed more than 1000 years ago.
