Mother and Father

When arriving in Drenga after fighting the undead Goergyboy visited his family mansion, and to his surprise found his mother and father present. Long ago the two had dissappeared after the children had grown up into their own. They greeted each other, and they asked him what became of his brothers.

Once he told them his tales, they told him theirs. Urgent times had befallen a kingdom far away, never even spoken of between anyone on this world except a few united souls. The Kingdom of Elarea came to chaos when it's ruler King Eagle was assinated. His vassals broke the land between themselves and made their own claim to power.

Goergyboy's father, known only as Militant, answered the call to unite the people. He took his wife with him instead of being apart for so long, and left their home in Drenga with not even a word.

They told tales of the past and present, before and after the war. He reminded Goergyboy of the alliance that brought the families of Militant and DuPre? together, and it made Goergyboy sad to remember that Dante had been killed. After all his mother was a DuPre?, a gift from Baal to Militant to tie the two families together.

They talked of how their small alliance overcame the dreaded orcish clan. In actuality it was just humans who convinced themselves they were orcs, and used the description to frighten their victims. The two became strong together, with a third brother by their side. The three houses sealed a pack linking them together through the ends of time. However, it was just a romantized dream, as the third brother was claimed from the two. His name was never spoken, for it would always bring a tear to Militant's eye.

Then Militant had established control over many of the ruling families, and was proclaimed emporer, but Baal fought with Militant saying he lost his way. They fought for some time, but finally Militant gave the position to King Eagle and rekindled the friendship between himself and Baal.

Then came the assassination of King Eagle, once again creating strife in this foreign land. The two families moved far away to try and avoid the struggle of politics but could stand idle no longer. They marched off, and re-established their kingdoms. They made new allies, and enemies and restored peace once again. And again Militant was given the title of Emporer, but instead he fled back to his home in Drenga, refusing to take the title or to show up ever again.

Goergyboy questioned him why he didn't take the title, and his father replied "I would have power and an honorable death, but meet a quick end. I'd rather live out my days in this house living to old age then have all the power in the world."

Goergyboy was humbled by what his father had said and replied "I'm sure you'll still be remembered as a hero, maybe even a legend. I've carved out my fame on these lands, and will make sure your name prospers."

His father sighed and said "That is alright, I'd rather live the rest of my days as an unknown. Lifes more peaceful that way." The old man looked at his wife and gave her a smile, then the two went to retire for the evening and Goergyboy left to continue his duties.
