Alebad smashed in Briarull!
By Revan

22.07.06 - A week ago, troops from Alebad were first spotted by Giblot scouts crossing into Hilly Holes (a region that still shows the scars of Giblot's plundering campaigns against Outer Tilog). The Nobles of Giblot immediately asked themselves, why? Why did Alebad sit in Hilly Holes? Did she march to retake Hilly Holes, a region they held shortly after Giblot blazed her way through towards Nidalery? Or perhaps Alebad had a more sinister purpose some argued. Perhaps they were coming to attack Briarull? Though even into the dying hours of the 21st, some nobles of Giblot held out in the vain hope that Alebads intentions were honourable. Well I tell you they were not.

At dawn on this very morning, the Alebad war drums blared and Joy, Count of Bode Batura, Hikaru, Marshal of the Army of Alebad & Craft quickly formed battle lines, each evidently having attack orders even though the realms of Giblot and Alebad officially have no qualms with eachother. It took a little while longer for the other soldiers of Alebad to arrive and make their lines but eventually under an Archer Opening formation, Alebad attacked the entrenched Giblot forces. However the malicious intent of Alebad so early on in their stay in Briarull proved to be their undoing as they quickly found themselves being overwhelmed by the more numerous and better trained Giblot forces. Eventually the survivors fled after they realised they had been rout, leading to wild cheers of victory from soldiers of Giblot who had been waiting nervously for this assault for days.

In the aftermath of the failed attack by Alebad, Alexander, Chancellor of Giblot made a plea to Alebad which essentially told them to get a grip and be wary of their real enemies. Fair advice we think, considering that Giblot has never once laid a finger on Alebad. Even when we could well have under the terms of the crooked treaty that Valast of Lukon used to near destroy Alebad just a few months ago now. Perhaps they ought to remember who knocked on the gates of Alebad City and who kept their troops at home?...

Zhar Challenges Republican Premier to a Dance of Death!
By Revan

12.07.06 - Late last week, Zhar Wamphyri - a former Judge and Count in his long time in Giblot - was arrested and banned from Lukon after being caught escaping from an assault on a Lukonite Noble. A charge that Zhar relished in admitting to Faith, the Arch Priestess of Lukon. Bi-zhar-ley (ooh, that was bad wasnt it!), Zhar managed to strike up a rapport with his captors and was soon chatting pleasantly with Faith, the woman who had just declared him an outlaw in the realm of Lukon. Anyway, one thing led to another and soon Faith became the messenger girl in a war of words between Zhar and the last Republican Prime Minister of Giblot, Thanatos Reaver!

In the messages passed in between the two men - who were once firm friends - things very quickly became aggressive and hysterical. Though we have to admit the hysteria belonged almost entirely to Thanatos. He claimed that the end of Giblot came when the Republic was overthrown and that if he had not been deposed one of our lucky number would have been Duke of Outer Tilog by now. Though we at the GGG suspect Thanatos meant one of those who were exiled along with him after the advent of Democracy in Giblot. Thanatos also made countless more arguments that we won't deliberate on here, as Zhar himself has publicly lambasted Thanatos claims. Made especially valid as Zhar could once count himself as among one of Thanatos closest friends.

In the end, Zhar became so disgusted at Thanatos claims that he offered to give up his career in the shadows, to once again be classed as an Honourable soul so that he could meet Thanatos in a duel to the death! All to settle the clearly considerable differences between the two men who once counted each other as friends. Will Thanatos have the courage to answer Zhar's challenge? We'll just have to wait and see!

Update: 16.07.2006 - Thanatos has in a typical display of arrogance declined Zhar's request. Thanatos claimed that he wanted Zhar alive to see the apparent destruction of Giblot and also tellingly said he would not waste his time to get off his horse to duel Zhar. Just like when he wasted no time chartering a ship to scarper from Giblot when he was overthrown in rebellion...

General and Banker Ousted from Office!
By Revan

01.07.06 - In one of the most exciting elections seen in recent history, the Banker and General of Giblot have been replaced. Indeed the more astute among you will have remembered Chancellor Alexander's sideswipe against Frodo and Franklin of Orange mere days before the elections took place. It turns out that his message may have made a big difference too, considering the crushing defeat Franklin suffered at James hands for the post of Minister of Finance this morning. In the election for Minister of Defence the Chancellor could too have played an influential hand as Robert defeated the old General Frodo Reborn by just one vote.

In recent weeks the Nobles of Giblot have begun to belly ache marginally more than usual over poor council leadership during the ongoing looting campaign by Lukon. In particular, Robert played on this fear in his campaign and promised to provide more leadership and direction for Giblot once elected. Although James did not go quite as far in promising to take a more active role he did make known his intention to fiddle with realm taxation for greater gains during this difficult time. Only time will tell if theyre the right men for their new jobs..

Update: 12.07.06 - Although we are yet to see tangible results from James stewardship of our economy, Robert's leadership has - for now - been adequate and several hordes of Zombies and Undead have been decimated in our Northern territories by troops under his personal leadership. Meanwhile Robert has also been trying his best to rally the remaining members of Giblot in Rollsovar in preparation for the expected return of Lukon in the north. We at the GGG wish Robert every success in spilling gallons of Lukonite blood upon their return!
