SPECIAL EDITION: Secession in the South

Today we at the have a special report. Most of us are now aware that the city of Eno has seceded from Luz de Bia. The name Distorted, formerly unknown to all but a small few is now talked about by many of Beluaterra's nobles. The realm is a monarchy consisting of three regions, Eno, Xween, and Brovyl. Eno is the largest and most populous city in the South. It is the gateway to the crucial Eno-Eyl River, and generates a large tax revenue. The loss of this key city could have dramatic effects at hastening the decline of Luz de Bia. The newfound realm in Eno is known as the kingdom of Alluran and as we now know, is the creation of one wealthy, and now famous(or notorious depending on your view) man, Distorted Psych. Distorted has been called various things from "snake" to "hopeful friend and ally". Who is this man really? The reporters here at the Face of Fronen managed to get an exclusive interview with the new self-appointed king. Here is the interview.

Interview with Distorted Psych

According to King Distorted his goal is to help the ailing, neglected peasants of the south. This is similar to the motives of King Marc of Irombrozia. He chose to secede from Riombara because the peasants of Irombro were forgotten by Riombara and left to fall under Luz de Bian control. We cannot know whether greed also is a motive. This was the motive implied by the Luz de Bian Chronicles. There is some evidence to support that.

According to accounts sent from the Colonies, Distorted was banned from a nation, Alowca for "sabotage and thievery against an ally." A day later he emigrated to Beluaterra and joined Luz de Bia. Only ten days later he seceded from Luz. The question remains is that enough time to develop a disagreement with Luz so great that secession is the only choice? Perhaps, perhaps not.

Further Distored has had a history of banishments from Beluaterran realms. He was protested out of office when he was Plergoth's Finance Minister. He left Plergoth to join neighboring Mesh, who immediately banned him. The Meshans knew what Distorted had done in Plergoth and did not want it to happen to them. Distorted had, according to Meshan accounts swindled 1000 gold from plergoth's coffers. The day after his Mesh banishment, Distorted (according to Varyaman reports) attacked and plundered peasant families in Varyamo Nolvo for gold. In total, Distorted has been banned from five realms: Plergoth, Mesh, Varyamo Nolvo, Vice, and Riombara.

His past plundering may lead a person to cast serious doubts on his motives.

What of Luz de Bia? We have requested an interview with the Luzian Chancellor Palthos. It will will be posted here: Interview with Palthos Belios.

It has been scheduled and we should have his take on things relatively soon. The secession is surely important to Luz de Bia as they have now lost control of Eno's people and money. They also have a new enemy, bringing the total up to five. Luz de Bia is already struggling with a takeover attempt in Grehk. This problem only continues the Luz de Bian decline we see now.

For now we can include Fronen's perspective. Here is an interview with Fronen's Prime Minister Cedric Mordred. Interview with Cedric Mordred

From the estimable Prime Minister we can see Fronen will probably not play any role in the Kingdom of Alluran's development, at least not in the short term.

We have heard the opinions of some of the continent's political leaders. We have also examined the facts about the man Distorted. What is more important than both of those things however, is how the newfound Kingdom will affect the future of the continent. Clearly it's location will make the new kingdom important economically. It gives realms with good agricultural production a place to sell their goods. Militarily, this new state will act as a buffer protecting Irombrozia. It will also force Luz de Bia to divert more forces southward and increase pressure on them to accept Riombaran terms of surrender. Although geographically small it is clear this tiny kingdom will have a very large impact on the continent or at the very least, the realms with claims on parts of the Great Southern Peninsula.

We hope this special report has been informative and clear. We give special thanks to the rulers who have contributed to this reporting and to our readers, thank you for your support of the Face of Fronen.
