The Great Sacrifice Pit

The Great Sacrifice Pit in Gor Ault was the first temple built to renewal the faith in the Old Gods. The impressive granite building was erected along The Knight's Road in the heart of Gor Ault by Yeux Serpentis, Great Maharshi of The Bloodspeakers.

Construction

The temple was built around an old abandoned well where some worshipers of the Old Gods made their offerings. Ancient traditions say that the well had been great in a time long before the first Invasions when the people there worship Ghor. With the arrival of The Bloodspeakers and the awake of the ancient cults and rituals the well was turned into a great sacrifice pit. In few time the old well received a mighty granite walls and wooden gates. Crossing the first gates the believers can found a large yard with a stone altar aligned with the old well turned into a wide pit where's impossible to see some light inside. There the people throw their offerings and make their sacrifices of blood. From there the believers can see the inner walls and the black twin towers.

Expansion

The old well was transformed into a large pit and the grass gave way to a stone yard. Walls and gates were built to protected the new temple and there, inside the inner walls they built the black twin towers and an entire complex with chambers to pray, places to rest, to purify the body and soul in the area of pools and hot baths. The main chambers are reserved for the most faithful followers and that's where they can pray in front of a great dark statue of the Old God who blesses the people of Gor Ault.

Interior

Only the Priests can go through the inner gates and sometimes some believers whose gifts are worthy of this privilege. Constructed primarily of granite, the buildings are dark and intentionally poorly lit. Despite the twin towers grow to the sky, both give access to underground chambers. A tunnel was built to reach the interior of the pit a few levels above the primordial darkness. Another retricted chamber is where it rests an ancient statue discovered at the first the excavations. Like every ancient statue of the Old Gods, this is a massive piece of dark stone with the size of two men and carved in the image of a powerful faceless warrior.

Shrine

While the temple was dedicated to the Old God Ghor, The Ravenous Erathquake, the shrine was erected to praise to Aultica, The Landkeeper. A large granite stone carved with an ancient and indecipherable writing and usually covered with blood stains from the offerings of travelers and followers. The large stone was always on the road near Agyr, but it was forgotten and neglected until the people return to the old faith, making of the shrine once again a place to pray and offer small sacrifices.

People & Deities
