It was that time again, a time the faithfuls of Zisswii had been anticipating for some time. Many times delayed, the initiations were finally being announced, Louis-Joseph had sent his local clerks to spread the news earlier today.

Though it had been damaged by the ravaging foreigners, the temple was still bigger than it was for the last initiations, and for this Louis-Joseph was thankful. It was a small step pyramid, with four pillars at the top and the sacrificial altar, already they were ascending closer to the gods, their communion with them would be greater. This time, too, they had found a tattoo artist, and he would mark the bodies of the faithfuls accordingly.

The victims were bring brought up the pyramid, where Louis-Joseph was awaiting the others, as the followers gathered around it to pray and chant. For him, they had managed to capture and heal one of the foreigners, who had been left for dead by his peers, and he saw great pleasure in this. As for the others, they were about to arrive, any moment now.

Danzi emerged silently from the shadowy recesses of the trees and came to stand at the base of the stepped temple. Spinning her twin daggers lazily in her hands, she watched the High Priest preparing for the initiation ceremony while waiting patiently for direction.

It was time for the sacrifices to begin, many gods would be appeased tonight.

Louis-Joseph stood atop of the temple, the altar right behind him, and a table a little further away, out of sight from the people below, where the tattooist was waiting to perform on the initiates. Even more than the first time, many many people had gathered around here, hundreds and hundreds of followers of Zisswii, Gaxano, Reeds, Haffemet, possibly over a thousand, though it was hard to tell in such an uneven space, despite the high view the temple offered. As the sun prepared to set, becoming hidden behind the temple and casting it's imposing shadows, the crowd ceased their activities and noises, observing in awe as multiple torches were simultaneously set alight at the top and all along the stairs, offering quite an impressive sight.

Louis-Joseph stood in front, they could but see his silhouette in front of the setting sun. "Faithfuls!", he shouted. "Faithfuls of the gods! Today we pay homage to many gods! As the initiates of this ceremony step up, I will allow them to tell you, to shout out loud so that all, so that even the gods may hear them!" He looked took out his flint knife, his ceremonial dagger, as he explained once more to the crowd the need for the sacrifices, the needs for the blood to flow to further postpone the end of the cycle, to further instill a sense of pride among the followers as well as to help motivate his new initiates, and help easy out any second-doubts they may be having. After finishing his short yet energetic speech, a captive was placed on the altar, the foreign soldier they had managed to find and save from a serious injury.

Without any delay, and with a cry of satisfaction, he held the dagger with both hands, and with all his body, drew it into the man's chest, with all his strength, a taste of vengeance filling his mind and controlling his body. It has penetrated the flesh well, and was lodged in the man's stomach, but he pushed it with all his strength again, making it hit the stone altar beneath him as it pierced all the way through the body. Nothing could be heard except for the cries of agony, the constant cries for help, for the pain to stop. But Louis-Joseph was in no hurry. They had done nothing to these people, he had never even met a qyrvagg of his life. And here they come, waltzing in from the east, hidden behind the armies of strong and worthy realms. They came like scavengers, looking for any peace of meat they could get their hands on, without actually contributing to the hunt themselves. This was a crony of one of these men, who slander the church, but have never even bothered talking with one of its members. The gods will be no kinder to this soul than him, once it has moved on.

He ripped through the chest to the diaphragm, the man attempting, in vein, to free himself from his captors, but he was held solidly, he barely even budged anything else than his head. He passed the dagger on to the next initiate, and plunged his hand into the man's chest, grabbing on his heart. But he did not tear it yet, it still felt too soon, and he was enjoying the man's grand wide eyes of terror. "Hiacaotl!", he yelled to the crowd. "You have driven me to these lands! From the north, you told me, you told me that I was to come back to the central lands, and that here I would find what I needed, that here I would find the people with whom to establish the faith. You have taught me much, and continue to teach me. For this, I offer you this man, may his sacrifice please you!" And he ripped out the heart as the man let out one final shriek before slowly losing consciousness, his eyes closing as he stared at his still beating heart, which Louis-Joseph presented up high for all to see. In that moment, in a climactic way that took everyone by surprise, the sun finally set and disappeared from sight for good, though the many torches kept the temple well-lit. Placing the heart in a receptacle that was put to rest in a statue of Hiacaotl, he stepped aside to let the next one step up.

As the next person step up, a faithful chopped the man's head head, and they threw the body down the steps of the pyramid, the blood pissing everywhere. He then went and placed the head is what was to become the temple's skull rack, a sort of marker of prestige for the temple and region.

Danzi watched dispassionately as the man screamed, although she found the noise somewhat irritating. A long trained instinct meant she preferred people to die silently, a quiet gasp or gurgle as their life slipped away.

As LouisJoseph stepped to the side, she immediately took the short trip up the steps to the altar where the next victim had been laid out. Her eyes were wide with fright and her face white, she was pleading with Danzi as dirty tears streaked her face. She looked young, 13 or 14 at the most, the slightest hint of womanhood budding on her naked chest.

Danzi stroked her soft blonde hair gently and whispered, "You are likely the luckiest captive here"

Before the words had registered, Danzi's daggers flicked seamlessly towards the girl's chest. Onlookers watched bewildered as Danzi held aloft the heart, dripping dark blood down her arm. The girl was limp on the alter.

"Yohuatocatl!" Danzi usually quiet voice echoed loudly around the temple surroundings.

"I commit this soul to your web. For lust, for murder, for instinct and for the shadows"

LouisJoseph standing solemnly to the side directed Danzi to the receptacle in which she placed the warm heart, before heading easily down the side to the tattooist.

Roleplay from Innoova Kiri-Jolith

Innoova takes the dagger handed to him... Vital fluid dripping. He takes in a deep breath of the already blood soaked air, feeling a primal power, he slowly and ceremonially removed the robe covering him.

He had only recently come upon the blood cult, but had since learned the religion like a man possessed. Feeling as thought everything previous in his life had been a waste, he dedicated himself to the Cult.

Gripping the reddened handle of the Flint dagger, he glanced idly at the next prisoner towards the altar. He allowed his eyelids to half droop, feeling an almost drug induced euphoria at the spirituality of the event.

His sacrifice was placed upon the altar. This man, was a rapist and a murderer. He had been around the lands convining young daughters of nobles, leading them further away from their estate, violating them, and then strangling the life from them, to leave them lie where they were. He was only caught because one bright young girl escaped him. His common hands had no right to touch a Noble woman, much less a little girl.

Innoova felt a flash of hatred flow through him, surprising him, and awakening him from his euphoric state, he instantly felt every inch of his body in a way that both excited and surprised him.

Innoova walked over casually to the captive, looking down upon him without a word, catching his flighty eyes, and he slowly laid a hand upon the man's chest. He felt the heart beating frantically, feeling the blood pulsing through the man's veins. He glanced over the scars on the man's body, seeing the proof of past pain.

He said almost under his breath, "Be calm, your part is almost done."

Innoova took his position next to the sacrifice, playing the dagger against the mans chest, slowly trailing, small wells of blood already oozing forth from the nicks.

In a flash of motion, Innoova drew the dagger high above his head in a two handed grip. Thrusting it downward with a small sigh of spiritual esctasy, He yelled.

"Xerotl, You have granted me the strength for my pilgramige here, You have led me to the Cult, and thus given Order to my chaotic life. May this meagre sacrifice please you"

The dagger pieced the mans chest in a small splash of blood. Innoova's hand snaked in immediately behind it, clutching the mans heart, and ripping it forth.

He held the heart above his head for a moment, looking to the sky, letting the blood drip upon his face, and leave streaks down his bare chest, before walking to Xerotl statue, and placing the heart within the receptacle beneath.

Breathing Heavily, Innoova retook his place among the Initiates, handing the dagger to the next man in line.
