Martin killed in leadership struggle

May 31, 2006- In true Assassins Dictatorship style, the late Dictator of the Assassins Guild in the northern forests of the Colonies has been struck down in a duel against a challenger to his power. Shortly after the duel which resulted in the death of Martin, the Banker of the Assasins, Randy was proclaimed the winner of the contest and the new Dictator of the Assasins. Truly this is a perfect example of true leadership, the strongest becomes pack leader it seems. Randy will have a tough time as the new Dictator as he fights to maintain the sovereignty of his realm against the better funded and equipped Wethamian enemies.

Ceasefire signed as Oritolon strikes at Irdalni

May 30, 2006- Well, despite the fact that Alebad and Alowca have resolved their conflict, the age-old war with Oritolon continues as the Oritolonian hordes move to strike the weakened Alowcan forces in Irdalni. It is clear that this attack has intentions to TO the region as scoutings have reported two TO units under the command of Corum, Duke of Oritolon and Loki, Prime Minister of Oritolon, numbering some 200 men between them.

However despite their numerical superiority, and the weakened state of the Alowcan military as it recovers from the last onslaught of the combined forces of the Alebad/Oritolon Pact, the men and women of the Trinity shall stand fast and fight on to victory against their enemies.

Margrave steps down as Xerxes is elevated to the rulership

May 29, 2006- Well after much campaigning and many elections the impetuous Lord Xerxes, Duke of Alowca has been elected to the Pontifex's office. This surprise election came with the shock abdication of Margrave, only a few days after his election as the Pontifex of Alowca. Continuing on from the work of Margrave and Absolute, Xerxes, albeit reluctantly, brought an end to the war which had raged between Alowca and Alebad signing a Cease-fire and arranging for the Alebadian purchase of Abaka from Alowca.

In other news, a further policy which Xerxes has promised to introduce, surrounds the controversial new Consitution which he has pledged to finish and then institute during his reign and the ruler of Alowca....

The results of this election can be found here:

Margrave declared Pontifex of Alowca!

May 23, 2006- As the ballots were counted, the chief candidates in Lords Margrave and yours truly, looked on excitedly. At one point it seemed as though I might scrape home, but in a last ditch voting surge Margrave pipped me and was proclaimed the new Pontifex of Alowca, election results can be found here:

The campaign was fraught with many twists and turns as, in a shock move, I decided to uphold the edicts of the Constitution which has not even come into effect yet, and step down from my position as the Duke of Alowca in order to run. Additionally, there were many others who turned out to be shock near contenders in Elizabeth and Alfonso.

The newly elected Pontifex Margrave has already promised to try and bring an end to this conflict with Alebad, however many believe the prospects of a peace treaty to be bleak. The war with Oritolon will of course, continue, and in other news, WE HAVE CAUGHT LOKI AGAIN! :)

Congratulations to all those who received votes, and congratulations to Margrave for his victory, may he lead Alowca into glory and prosperity.

New leader? Or old dog?

May 22, 2006- As many will know, Absolute has gone into hiding for the time being and Alowca needs a new Pontifex. We have two definite crowd-pleasers, Sir Xerxes and Sir Margrave. Both have extensive governmental experience, they certainly complete the office cycle combined. The pair come from very different backrounds, considering Xerxes' love of plum jam and Margrave's love of strawberry jam. But that arguement is for another time.

Xerxes is the duke, which of course if he wins I hope to become the next, and he serves the good people. His belief of the trinity is developing still, but his willingness to die for Alowca shows merit. Xerxes plans to ally with realms bordering our enemies and have them attack.

Margrave is the marshall, and he keeps good relations with Alebad's and Lukon's rulers. His belief in the trinity is minimal, but his sword remains sharp. Margrave plans to convince Alebad to stop a bete(silly/dumb-french lesson) war.

The choice is yours, the fate of Alowca lies in your hands my friends. - Squeaks Beyoku

Consitutional Theocracy?

May 22, 2006- Well, this may be the very first in existence, but soon Alowca will become the very first Constitutional Theocracy in the history of the Colonies. Lately, what with the internal struggles of Church against State, their was much discussion concerning the conversion of Alowca into a Monarchy realm, thus separating Church and State in two different entities. The State would handle diplomacy, the economy and the military, whilst the Church would manage internal affairs and Justice amongst the peoples of Alowca.

However after much heated debate and the formation of a Consitution which would have been implemented should the Monarchy have ever been formed, it was decided by the new Pontifex and the Alowcan Council that Alowca would remain a Theocracy, however with necessary ammendments made to the old Consitution to adhere to a Church controlled ethos.

The group assigned for the ammendments to this document have been myself (who was a chief framer of the Monarchy Consitution), Reginold (another key figure in the original creation of the draft document) and of course, our own Pontifex. With the reorganisation of this document and the clear definition of people's rights and the rights of the ruling class laid down, hopefully the internal struggles of the previous attempts at reformation will become things of the past as Alowca ploughs ahead to glory and victory against her enemies!

Re-shuffle in Alowcan command

May 21, 2006- Lately there has been much reshuffling of the Alowcan regional and governmental command. It's a long and complicated story so here goes.....With the Lady Crystal departing to the Far East, the former Duke of Alowca, Absolute was elected to the Pontifex's office. However this election left the position of Duke of Alowca open. After some debate, yours truly put up his hand and was appointed as Duke of Alowca shortly after, stepping down from my position as the Paladin Primus of Alowca. This allowed the Marshal of Alowca, Gravitas to be elected into my old position, and Margrave, former Paladin Primus of Alowca to appointed as the new Marshal of Alowca.....I hope you all were able to keep up!

Skirmishes

May 21, 2006- The grand invasion is over, for now, but the battles keep coming as the Alowcan army mops up the stragglers as they retreat back to their cities to come again. Recently, with Alowcan victory in Irdalni, and then minor skirmishes in Abaka, we have taken quite a few prisoners. Regrettably, Ender has managed to escape any lasting punishment, but I am sure that in the battles to come he will once again grace the insides of our prisons...

Looting, again...

May 20, 2006- Oritolon and Alebad continue to loot the lands of Alowca, what honour do they possess? None at all it seems. We have stood fast in the face of overwhelming numbers and come out victorious, now it seems, that our invaders have lowered themselves to such atrocious acts of terrorising the populace. I hope we can expect more noble-like behaviour from them in their next foray into our territory.

Captured!?

May 20, 2006- This war has taken a heavy toll upon Alowca, and yet, due to tactical incompetence from our adversaries, the Alowcan armies have managed to capture both Loki and Ender. The two very rulers of Oritolon and Alebad who declared war upon our little theocracy. Unfortunately, and much to our Haruspex Maximus Kaige's dismay, Loki managed to buy his freedom using family gold, it seems that Ender will not be so lucky. There is debate at the moment as to what should be done with this dishonourable fool. Torture? Release in good will? Release for a bargain? Or simply having him rot in our prisons for the next week where he can contemplate his misdeeds, only time will tell it seems.

Alebadian aggression

May 20, 2006- Well, I always knew the Alebadians could not be trusted, but I had no idea that their treachery ran so deep. Abaka is theirs? Indeed not my friends, for the people of Abaka despise Alebad, and to add insult to injury, would you believe that they looted the very region they want to take from us? Does that spell honour to you? It is no wonder that Abaka is now under Alowca's flag, for it would not have anything to do with its Alebadian oppressors anymore!

The Alowcan Press!

May 20, 2006- Well, the time has come! Alowca finally has a newspaper of her own! I grew tired of outdated accounts of the goings on in the Colonies and I thought that Alowca could use a newspaper, to tell everyone about us! So here goes...
