Yay, our new realm has a wiki page! Brance/Indirik is the one who designed that realm box thing. At least I believe so. Either way, he should know how to get it. --Allison 08:08, 14 August 2009 (UTC)

Is there any meaning behind the strange name of this realm, or was it just named that way 'cause it resembles the region names in that area (sounds like something chinese to me)? --Arakiss 14:33, 14 August 2009 (CET)

Anyone concerned, Xinhai is a nod to the regional dialect of Donghaiwei (Chinese). Both Xin and Hai have multiple meanings in the dialect, depending on how their said and how they are written, which some meanings, though distinct, having the same sounds.

In particular, I've chosen "Xin" for Star and "Hai" for sea; Xinhai would make Starry Sea, a reference to the religion which this realm is dedicated to: Sanguis Astroism.

(OCC: And for those curious/bored... region names and meanings!

Donghaiwei: Surrounded by the Eastern Sea

Donghai: Easter Sea

Bohai: Choppy/Stormy Sea

Taishan: (?) It MIGHT be Sunny Mountain, but I'm not sure

Caiyun: Rainbow

Linhai: Cold Sea

Huanghai: Yellow Sea

I have no idea what Cailyn is.)

"Star" in Chinese is actually "Xing" in the first phonetic sound. Otherwise, "Xin", also in first phonetic sound would mean "Heart" or "New". "Hai" is mostly clear, although if you were to say it in the fourth phonetic sound, it would mean "Harm". As for Taishan, I think it might be a nod to an actual Tai Shan in China, one of the locations for a martial arts sect/school. Lin hai definitely does not mean "cold sea", because the word for "cold" is "leng". Linhai more closely means "forest sea", if that makes sense at all. Cai Yun http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cai_Yun is a badminton player :D Zhonyuan means "central park/garden" and Cailyn is horribly mangled in its spelling such that my best guess would say "Vegetable woods" --Qmasterflex86 17:08, 14 August 2009 (UTC)

I'll trust you for the Chinese, but I'm sure we can claim that Xinhai means Starry Sea in Dongese without problems. vonGenf 18:43, 14 August 2009 (UTC)
Sure, but then make it clear that there were aesthetic liberties taken that modified the real-world language for which the name was based. Those without knowledge of Chinese might actually believe that "Xinhai" really does mean "Starry sea", which it does not. Also I can't see what makes "Xinhai" more desirable than "Xinghai". The extra "g" really matters that much? Still, your realm name, your choice. Calling it "New Sea" would make some sense too, since it is...new. Relatively speaking. --Qmasterflex86 18:53, 14 August 2009 (UTC)
It's already created, so they don't have the option to change it. --Athins 00:00, 15 August 2009 (UTC)
Yep. Well it doesn't matter too much. Whats in a name? We can just go with "New Sea". (Jeez, I swore I got that correctly. Apparently my pingyin's been shot to hell; I have practiced in 7 years)--Anabellium 05:56, 15 August 2009 (UTC)
