Apropos of some recent...ah...discussions in the channel, I think we should get the channel rules down on paper (so to speak). Here's what we've more or less gone by, in my experience; I'd like to get some discussion on it before it goes into the page proper.
The primary rules for the channel are just the rules for the QuakeNet network, which you can (usually) see every time you sign on. However, there are some rules for the channel, which are largely to enforce common courtesy.
- No spamming
- No excessive foul language (an occasional curse here or there won't get you kicked, but persistent and/or malicious use will)
- Keep the personal insults to a minimum
- If you have operator privileges, do not abuse them--they should only be used to enforce the rules and keep things civil
