OOC Note

Someone should note that the only Elves are those that were grandfathered in before the Human-Only rule. Any new 'elves' and those that came out in the last couple years should be frowned upon... --Bannable 23:21, 27 June 2010 (UTC)

I would very much appreciate it if this were done. It gets annoying trying to deal with people claiming to be a few hundred years old.Shwartzring 02:01, 28 June 2010 (UTC)
I'd forgive someone for doing that if they were a dwarf and considered themselves to the same level of maturity as a human teenager. Poor dwarves, no one loves them. --Aerywyn 02:26, 28 June 2010 (UTC)
This needs a citation. The only exception that I know of is for families in Sirion -- nothing about joining before a certain time. -- Corwyn 04:41, 28 September 2010 (CEST)
I've sent an email to Tom, we'll see what he says. In the mean time, I'm reverting your edit because my gut tells me you're wrong. --Bannable 05:16, 28 September 2010 (CEST)
Does that means the elves race will die out and become extinct???? NOOOOOOO.... --Slaymaster 21:45, 29 September 2010 (CEST)
One can hope Slaymaster... one can hope RestonVanim

Sentiments on Elves

I'll be honest, I really don't get this OOC hatred for elves. The few fantasy elements in this game make up some of its more interesting facets IMHO. Fighting daemons for instance but then hoping that elves die off just seems a bit... off. The elven aspect, specifically fighting for the survival of the last elven realm, was exactly what hooked me into this game. I wouldn't be here without it. -- Corwyn 05:51, 30 September 2010 (CEST)

The elves may still exist, they just aren't playable characters, just like undead and monsters aren't playable characters.--Aralaiquendi 01:10, 1 October 2010 (CEST)
Well just had realm wide talk about this in Sirion and nobody knows anything about it. And nobody cares about it either. They are been played and RPed whether this it in existence or not so you can frown all ya like Mr. Bannable. The Elves are saved! Saved! *break opens champagne* --Slaymaster 06:29, 30 September 2010 (CEST)
What your realm decided ultimately doesn't matter. If Tom says 'No elves save a few exceptions' then that's how it is. That may all be a joke to you, but hopefully there are smarter players around who pay attention to the big chief. -Capet
It is part of the general rule on "no non-human characters", since BM is largely a low-fantasy game (not a historical simulation as that would rule out daimons and monsters). However, Sirion was founded before this was the case. Tom could decide one day that anyone who persisted playing an elf - even in Sirion - would be lightning bolted, but this would be recieved with considerably greater resistance than just stopping them anywhere else since Sirion, being a realm of roughly 100 characters, could make a lot of fuss.
That and I personally consider the East Continent to be the museum of Battlemaster. BUT THATS JUST MY OPINION. WHO AM I TO CAST JUDGEMENT.--Aerywyn 11:42, 30 September 2010 (CEST)
Yeah, but so far I haven't seen Tom saying anything on it. Just Bannable saying he will email Tom about it to confirm and then nothing. And most of the realm didn't even know about it apart from Corwyn. I mean if the intent was to kill off the elves then it should have been made publicly known in Sirion. Now all the people who have been RPing as elves suddenly found themselves they weren't really elves after all. A rule that is not enforced is no a rule at all. In this case, it is not even made known.

Please refer to the FAQ#Accounts and Characters this is publicly known and commonly asked question. You can not play a monster, mermaid, werewolf, vampire, or elf. You can however claim whatever to be whatever the hell you want. Just don't state it as fact and be prepared for people claiming you are a lunatic.--Aralaiquendi 01:10, 1 October 2010 (CEST)
NOOOO!! NOO!!! This cannot be! NOOOOO... The elf race is forever cursed. Freedom!! Freedom!!! --Slaymaster 01:48, 1 October 2010 (CEST)
Well there was no need to email then. Could have pointed out link in the first place. I browse this wiki quite a lot and I didn't see it. --Slaymaster 01:48, 1 October 2010 (CEST)

hey, does anybody know the date the human rule came in then? I want to work out how many elven nobles are left in Sirion. --Slaymaster 01:57, 1 October 2010 (CEST)

Before I joined the game, I believe, which was in May 2005. -Capet
I thought it was widely known that Sirion was a special case. The question here is whether new nobles playing within Sirion can play as Elves or whether they are bound to the human-only rule. I always interpreted the rule as meaning you shouldn't create new Elven races but the ones that exist will be allowed to stay until they are eradicated and then that would truly be the end of the elves. --Rubyru 07:45, 1 October 2010 (CEST)
Man, that is more than five years ago! That can't be that many elves left. I actually thought I read up on wiki somewhere that Sirion is a special case period and didn't read the human only rule thing until now. Another question I want to know is, does this IG means just the elven nobility to die out or does it means the whole elves race to die out? Basically, would there be elves in BM when there are no more elven players and can there be RPs about non-noble elves around?

I have just checked. There are only 5 families who are elves. To find out which five families - read The_Elven_Chronicle - the best selling newspaper on East Continent. --Slaymaster 20:34, 1 October 2010 (CEST)
