Is it safe to assume that when these limits come into effect if we already have 3 active nobles that one will not be taken away from us. Currently I have 5 available characters, can have 3 active, 2 of wish can be noble. Also currently I have 3 active nobles. I hope to be allowed to keep them when the code change comes into effect. Overall I think that this is a great idea. It will allow for players to play more characters and not give up ones they hold dear. Also allow them to try something different for a while without having to give up on a well loved character. Doddjh

A limit to the amount of characters? I don't know. I once socially destroyed a char, giving me two options. Emigrate or start a new char. I chose the second, also giving me new role-play possibilities, as now I had a 17 year old son. And another one died, so I would have already used 5 of my 8 possible characters. I probable won't reach the limit, but shouldn't we be free to decide to delete a char and start a new one? (Maybe adding a role-play feature, giving you the option when deleting your char to retire, commit suicide, or if older to die from diseases or have a natural death.) On the other hand, a noble limit would be nice to stop multi-cheaters, but for new players it might not be that fun. If you happen to join a peaceful realm with not that many discussion, it might be good to have additional nobles as well. As what is the prize of your safety if it's at the cost of your privacy? The same can be applied here as well, do you wish to add features to prevent cheating at the cost of the fun (mostly for new players I suppose)? --Roy 15:24, 15 September 2010 (UTC)
Roy, I think you may be misunderstanding. If you retire a character, it will be gone—no longer counting against your character limit. It's a limit to the number of characters you can have in active play or paused at one time, not a limit to the number of characters you can create ever. The change is that you can pause one character and have it no longer count against your active character limit, then create another: both characters count against your total character limit, but only the new one counts against your active limit. --Anaris 17:43, 15 September 2010 (UTC)
So you are saying I could have 8 characters? Of which 3 can be active and 5 of them can be paused? --Roy 12:44, 16 September 2010 (UTC)
That is exactly what I am saying. --Anaris 13:49, 16 September 2010 (UTC)
I don't see the use of 5 paused characters, but ok. --Roy 15:36, 16 September 2010 (UTC)
Simple. You get attached to a character, but bored of it, so wanna try something else for a while. I for one will find this great...meaning I can try out different classes and characters, different ways of playing with different roleplay opportunities. And will get to play more of the family members without waiting for one to die first--X-Anne-X 20:04, 17 September 2010 (UTC)

Purpose?

What is actually the reason of this limit? When someone has an account for several years and plays mainly heros, he would reach the limit very soon today. The only way to continue to play BM would be to delete the old account and create the new one. Is it goal of this change? Strange for me actually.... It would be better to keep long-time players with whole their history rather than force them to delete all the achievements. Anna 21:32, 26 September 2010 (CEST)

As Anaris said above, the limit is only for paused characters. Dead or retired characters do not count towards the limit.vonGenf
Ah, I see. So, it looks great now! Anna 23:19, 26 September 2010 (CEST)

Question

What happens if you have 4 active, 3 noble, and one adventurer... then the adventurer has enough recommendations to become noble, does this mean you need to pause a noble or will all 4 continue to play??

I believe that you will not be allowed to ennoble the adventurer unless you have the free noble slots to play them. Either that or it is possible that you will be allowed to ennoble him, but you will then need to immediately pause a noble to get you back within the limits. I don't remember which it is. Either way, ennobling an advy is not a free ticket to more nobles. --Indirik (talk), Editor (talk) 18:16, 6 January 2014 (CET)
