Surcliffe Family

Family Origin

The Surcliffe Family originates from the region of Gelene Outskirts in Astrum on the island of Dwilight. They have long been a minor noble family of no consequence, too long for them to truly remember how it was they became noble. As a family, they have had ups and downs. While the mindset of arrogance and noble right is extremely prevalent amongst their ranks, it has been a long time since any of their members graced any sort of noble function. In fact, more often than not, the Surcliffe men had to work their own fields because of a lack of funds. Still, they preserved what noble titles and skills they knew, and carefully passed them on to the next generation in the hopes of falling into fame at some point in time.

Long have they been known for their archery skills. Throughout the extended generations there has not been one member of the Surcliffe family who could not shoot a bow with relative accuracy. It was a point of pride to the family which produced nothing more than elevated farmers, and they gruelingly taught their children at the earliest age. It is said that all Surcliffe can hit a single leaf from a tree at any distance with the sun in their eyes, and that their men are even better. It is rumored that there is a small grove somewhere on the Surcliffe estates where the trees produce the best wood for bows, already curved delicately as if they are just waiting to be harvested.

Soon after Elise ventured out into Astrum, she began making gold and sending it back home. Because of this the Surcliffe family was able to prosper and they now had some claims to back up their superfluous talk. As they grew more wealthy and somewhat renown, they were able to gather up the funds to send other scions off into the world as well and now they wait with prized ambitions set on the young generation.
