The laws of Soliferum

Article I - Protesting

No one will be punished for protesting a decision made by the Prime Minister or the Senate.

This is a republic, and every noble is free to voice their opinion on any matter that affects the nation. You are free to disagree and protest if you wish. However, there is a difference between disagreeing, and disobeying. If you disagree with orders, you are still expected to follow them. Soliferum can squabble all it wishes internally, but must present a united face to the rest of the island.

Article II - Realm Security

The Prime Minister and General are not required to discuss the implements and plans of war with the realm. This is in the interest of realm security.

There have been many instances of spying throughout the realms, and we do not delude ourselves into thinking we are immune from this.

Article III - Religion

There shall be no state religion, But Sol is to be respected throughout all of Soliferum.

Each Duchy may freely follow any religion its Duke and Landed Lords choose, whether it be The Trinity, The Guardians of Twilight, Magna Aenilia Ecclesia or even no religion at all.

Article IV - Fines

The offences listed below are considered moderate in nature, and will result in a fine - the exact amount to be determined by the Minister of Law. Note that this list is not exhaustive.

a) Disobeying movement orders

During times of war it is important we attack our enemy together. Attacking piecemeal will only result in our armies' destruction.

b) Looting without orders

While not banned completely by the realm laws, looting is only to be carried out when specifically allowed. Looting, rather understandably, angers the population of the region, making it more difficult for them to be integrated into our nation.

c) Razing fortifications without orders

As with looting, razing enemy fortifications should only be done when ordered. If we are to take over an enemy city or stronghold, we would prefer to stand atop strong battlements when we are finished, rather than rubble.

Article V - Bans

The offences listed below are considered serious in nature, and may result in a ban from the realm. Note that the list is not exhaustive.

a) Breaking of an Oath

Rather obviously, Soliferums feudal hierarchy is rooted in the Oaths held by all. Unaligned Nobles are outside of the Republics hierarchy.

b) Participating in the underground

Soliferum is a republic and all candidates or parties are welcome to compete in the race for political power. There is no reason to take your scheming underground, unless you wish harm to the foundations of the Republic.

c) Attacking another realm without orders

Obviously, attacking another realm without specific orders can have disastrous effects upon our diplomacy with that realm, and can lead to war.

d) Infiltrating another realm without orders

Sabotage and assassination are rarely looked upon kindly by the victims, and wars have been fought over far less.

Article VI - Trials

No noble shall be banned without approval of his Liege, the bond of an Oath is stronger than the power of the Judge.

No noble of Soliferum will be banned without approval of his liege. The accused will always be brought before their liege, be it a Regional Lord or a Duke.

Article VII - Duelling

Duelling is a noble's right, but that right may be curtailed during times of war.

While duelling is generally legal in Soliferum, is it strongly advised you do not enter into a duel when battle is on the horizon. During times of war, Soliferum needs all of its nobles on the front lines, not nursing their duelling wounds in the healer's tent.

So say I, Viracocha Zurralius, Minister of Law of Soliferum.
