Snowowl Family

We have lived for generations and generations in isolation amidst snow and ice in the mountains. Our main source of water and heat is a hot spring that flows plentiful from inside our cave. It is hot enough to cook an egg in, if we manage to find any.

The first generation had to learn to survive in the environment, but did have good education and tools. They wrote down what they learned, until they ran out of parchment. It took two generations before there was enough hide, that some could be used to write on. What was clear from the start on, that our family was too small to prevent inbreeding. Let us say that there were strict regulations on having children and that every traveler that came through the mountains was absorbed into the family. Only the last few generations managed to feed more stomachs, so our family grew a bit. That helps but not enough. Some of our babies are born deficient. Be blessed to never have had to make decisions about newborns. We need to leave.

Recently, our generation hosted the first traveler they ever had. We are a hospitable family, though inexperienced. The best news he brought us, is that a civilization is growing once more in the lands outside the mountains. He has guided me, Aneel out of the moutains and into society, helping our family more than he ever could otherwise. We are of the mountains, of the snow and of the ice. But we will now leave.

The family tree

For now, know that Aneel Snowowl, second son of the 8th generation, has come to Alebad, Minas Thalion (once Oritolon), to earn a place in society. Candide Snowowl decided to leave the family and travel the world. In other words, become an adventurer.

His parents are Fiona and Galven Snowowl, both of the 7th generation.

The family name

It is said our ancestors were exiled into these mountains and were close to exhaustion when they saw an owl and decided to follow it. It was this beautiful bird that guided our ancestors to the hot spring, ensuring our survival. With the exile, all rights were taken, and we denounced our name. We are proud to honor the magnificent creature that saved us.
