The Raiding of Al Amarah was a Sirion excursion into rich Fontan regions. The goals were primarily to distract and divide the northern Fontan forces, to loot as much gold as possible so as to enrich the war coffers of Sirion, and to scout out the enemy's regions.

A large battle was brewing along the main border regions between Fonan/Westmoor and Sirion. Therefore a small but deceptively strong force of Sirion infantry and archers passed around the main enemy line and into the undefended regions beneath it. There, despite looting a large amount of gold to the detriment of Fontan and the benefit of Sirion, they never really encountered any significant opposition.

It would probably have been a simple affair for Fontan to deal with it had they quickly reacted to it. But that is not really in keeping with the slothful and slow nature of Fontan forces. As such, the small Sirion force terrorized the tax collectors of Fontan and grew fairly wealthy. They were never caught, and in fact returned to Sirion with forces stronger than they had left with.
