The Shikkis

History

Centuries before, during the rule of Emperor Mangetsu, was when the name Shikki was first known. There, a warrior stood up among the ranks. A great and honorable fighter, by the name of Ikegami Shikki. At the age of 18, Ikegami fought for the Emperor for many years and certainly the best there was. He had defended the kingdom from many would be conquerors and prevented assassinations to the Emperor as well. He was then named The Emperor's Shield

During those years of fame and recognitions, on a moonlight night, he saw a girl being chased by thugs. He immediately came to her rescue and disposed the bandits easily. The girl, Kana, her name she said, looked at him with awe and adoration.

Ikegami continued to serve the Emperor while seeing Kana every once in awhile. When he became 25, Kana then was 20, they decided to get married. And with the Emperor's blessing, the two wed thus, Shikki Family was born.

The Shikkis became a family close to the Emperor, for the fact of Ikegami's greatness in battle, and Kana's pure etiquette and skills as well. Whenever she can, she took care of the Emperor's children and taught them things that will result in them growing up into fine and honorable individuals. She also sings for them and everyone was really enchanted by her beautiful voice.

Ikegami retired being the Emperor's Shield at the age of 50, and decided to settle in a different land for a change. That's when they came to Atamara. Once they settled in Veshin, Ikegami decided to make an Insignia for the clan and that would serve as a recognition for those who would follow whenever they would want to serve a ruler. He decided then with a symbol of something like a sword, for Ikegami's battle skills, and a crescent moon behind, in memory of Kana, whom she first met in a crescent moonlit night.

For ages, the Shikkis continued to serve the Ash Sea. Though not really after prestige and recognition, but just to be able to serve the kingdom and help the people in it. People was awed and at the same time grateful for the Shikkis for they had really inherited Ikegami's righteousness up to this date. The ladies of the Shikkis was either teaching others proper decorums or enhancing talents. But quite a few of them became knights too.
