The family archives in Grehk / Beluaterra

Members of the d'Serrai family have lived and fought in a number of realms - but there are two realms that have been held dear by several members: Talerium on Atamara and Riombara on Beluaterra. Grehk, the old fortress city of Riombara holds the d'Serrai family mansion and within its archives quite a few writings by the hand of three different family members may be found:

The first generation

Having lived and fought in the worlds of god Tom from the end of 1002 until the beginning of 1005

Tan o'Serrai

The oldest of three brothers. Content to be a simple soldier, he fought for Sirion for 20 months, never rising further. He saw East- and West Sirion, the rise and fall of Eleador, the taking and loss of Ashforth, the rebellion of Avamar, the political changes in Rancangua and the destruction of Omsk. After all those months of battle he grew increasingly weary of the propaganda being used by both sides and decided to leave. In his opinion, fighting for your realm should be sufficient reason to march to battle...no need to sweeten it with lies or halftruths. Thus he left for the South-East Island and fought for the realm of Taselak (SEI) as its general for several months until the whole family was called away from the worlds of Battlemaster.

Tan's Brother

Not wanting to be embroiled in the turmoil and the fixed alliances of the East Island, Tan's Brother sailed to Atamara. His was one of the founding families of Talerium, a realm he should grow to love with a passion. He did serve as battlegroupleader, as duke of several cities and held the office of general for a long term. Tan's Brother should witness defeat and glory, rebellion and revenge as a warrior of that desert realm. Being a footsoldier while also suspicious of Talerium's camels he never did command a cavalryunit during his two years in Talerium. He was called away from the worlds of Battlemaster by familyduties at the same time as Tan o'Serrai, never to return.

In his old age he put to writing down some fragments of Taleriums history. Those were compiled by his nephew, Tan d'Serrai, who did bring them to Talerium where they can be viewed together with other writings in the libraries of Choxcal: History of Talerium. Tan's Brothers last wish was to have his heart brought back to Talerium there to be buried - a wish that was fullfilled by his nephew in February 1006. There in Choxcal his ghost now does rest...if he is not busy handing advice to warriors heading towards battle through the gate of the Snaketower.

Tan o'Kammar

Cousin to both Tan o'Serrai and Tan's Brother he was the last of the family to set foot in these worlds. For several months Tan o'Kammar did fight for Hasland before growing disillusioned by the internal rhetoric in this realm. When the continent of Beluaterra was discovered he immediately did set sail for it, arriving in the city of Rines. This should be the defining point in his life - Riombara, the realm that was founded in this city should hold his burning loyalty until his death. He should be duke of its greatest city, its general and for a long time its Prime Minister - he should see it triumphant and utterly destroyed, only to have it rise from ashes and dust like a phoenix.

Inspired by his cousin, he also did put down his memories to paper, covering the time from Riombara's founding until the end of the Second Age, when he had to leave these worlds. Unlike his cousins he should not survive his departure for long - some say his spirit was broken as soon as he boarded ship.

His son, Herkan d'Serrai, should bring his writings back to Riombara where they are on display in the great libraries of Athol Margos:

Tan d'Serrai

He joined the realm of Talerium during the first weeks of 1006 to follow in his uncle's footsteps. Arriving during the Northern War, he fought in the second and third campaign where he took part in the assaults on the fortress of Sale and the Citadel of Icegate. Next to fighting, his love is history - he continues to write about the History of Talerium which can be browsed through in the Library of Choxcal. During the long and gruelling war against the Vikings Tan was made Marshal of Metemec. After that war came to an end around August 1006, Tan did serve in the first campaign against Abington (the creation of Kybcell), then was elected as Duke of Ptaphoc. As his father had held this post for a long time during the beginning of Talerium, it was a high honour indeed! Tan went missing after a long illness...it is said that he ventured into the desert, not to return. Some speak of a hermit living in the crags southeast of Ptaphoc, but whether that man is indeed the former duke noone can say.

Herkan d'Serrai

Joined Yssaria in February 1006 to fight several battles, then found a ship heading towards Beluaterra and his ultimate goal: Riombara. There he soon found himself at home and was voted for Count of Ajitmon in March. Somewhat later Herkan was voted into the office of general and soon had to prove himself against Luz. After being wounded, assassinated and captured during the first campaign, after having lived through the secession of Irombrozia, he was elected President of Riombara and was partially responsible for ending the internal crisis. He stepped down 2 months later during mid-September, served as Advisory Minister and was appointed as General once again at the end of September 1006.

He did continue his fathers work of writing about Riombara's history: A detailed and neutral account about the fight Riombara had been embroiled in since Luz' and Enweil's attack during June 1006: The Great War. Herkan did vanish somewhere during November 1008.

Kammar d'Serrai

Completely contrary to his younger brother Herkan - who seems to be unable to shut up - he does talk as little as possible...maybe due to having endured his brother since infancy... He reached Toren on the Southeast Island in November 1006 but got frustrated by the incessant internal fighting within one month. He left for Ikalak on the Southwest Island in January 1007. There Kammar did aquire a taste for looting and lonely rides through the enemy's hinterlands, but these pasttimes grew old after some time. Once Dwilight was discovered Kammar sailed there to join the realm of Pian en Luries where he led a somewhat quiet life as count of Orz. After his cousin Herkan vanished he once again set sail, this time for Beluaterra - there to join Riombara. There he gained the title of duke of Rines when Riombara retook that golden city in spring 1010.
