Dame Alana,

my apology again for the very late reply to your questions, sitting on a ship in a storm means you are forced to step back and that is the time to think about old debts, like the answers I owe you.

Your questions are intelligent and show that you have thought about the said. I can not answer questions I dont know the answer. I dont know why the Bloodstars are waxing and waning but I know that this phases mean a change in the quality and quantity of the influence they have on our bloodstream. For example, when Austere is bright I tend to fast. I only take water and a spoon of honey mixed with the juice of a cherry during this time but when he is dark like he was in the last days I tend to eat more than I need. You might find this childish but wait till you heard why I do this. On the outside I am just mirroring the high energy or the low energy of Austere but I think it is reasonable to belief that my doing will have influence on my blood as well and acting in favor of Austere will make my blood ... prone to accept the energy of Austere just like it flows in. This will make the extrem peaks of Light and Darkness easier to handle what results in more balance but perhaps more important is that it teaches you how you can let your mind flow through the void of the times between the peaks. It is easy to feel the energy of a Bloodstar at his peak. That is what we teach novices to connect them with the awareness of the Bloodstars. Most of the time the Bloodstars are somewhere between light and darkness and to connect with that sometimes faint energy is difficult to say the least and I know nobody except his Holiness Mathurin Hossenfeffer who is able to do this on all Stars, simultaneously and always. Nevertheless, we shall grow and learn to vibrate in balance with the Bloodstars no matter if we finally can reach the state of awareness our Prophet lives as example or not, we have to try.

Austere was just an example. I do other things when Auspicious and Maddening are at their peaks. If you find your own ways or adapt that of others that match your character is no concern. When you find something, on your own or from someone else, it will help you on your way to awareness and that is all that matters.

You asked if there is a relation between the Three concerning their phases. I dont know of any relation. As far as I know they wax and wan like they see fit.

Now to your last question. Why do I believe that most people who claim that they have been influenced by the Bloodstars have not? Quite frankly, I dont believe that. I believe that even the ones who say I am not influenced by the Bloodstars are. I read my sermon again and I admit it was more than badly worded at this point. What I meant and will say in the future is that there are people who claim that they did things under the influence of one Star alone. "I was a bad boy because Maddening had me in his grip" is a common excuse in some regions in Dwilight and I heard others, about Austere and Auspicious as well. This is a habit I dont support. We have emotions and we have an influence on this emotions. Maddening doesnt make people insane. What drives them insane is when they start acting against the influence. When they deny the Divine to do their work on the Blood and that is not the influence of a single Star it is a flaw in the person and to lay the blame on a single Star will just prevent a necessary healing. Instead of blaming, in this example, Maddening the proper response would be to say:"Yes, I am flawed but this just means I still have to learn." The process would start immediately while the "blamers" just didnt get it.

I hope I answered your questions and want to invite you once again to ask if more things are unclear.

Walk in their Lights, sister,
Medugnatos Stormcrow (Duke of Mimer, Regent of Corsanctum)
