Splitting of Morek

After much conflict in founding realm of Morek. The Small Council of Morek has decided that the best step to take would be to secede the Donghaiwei duchy from the realm. Several days ago, Duchess Annabellium of Donghaiwei seceded the duchy to form the Realm of Xinhai. Lady Varchilde of Caiyun subsequently followed due to being completely enclosed by Xinhaian regions. Word has it that the realm of Morek (Springdale and Nifelhold duchies) will become a religion-based Monarchy. Xinhai shall remain a traditional theocracy.

Many nobles in the remainder of Morek were very much opposed to such a split. "To Those of you forced to betray your homeland. In My Opinion Lady West is using this "Succession" merely to sarisfy her own lust for power, After Being rejected by the separatist realm, and then having been defeated in the election for Grandmaster, She is now using this Succession to gain power by betraying the Grandmaster, and abandoning Morek. I urge all nobles of Honor to Honor their allegiance to Morek, and not support this Megalomaniac." says Sir Orris Morton of Cold Spring. The Times hopes that nothing too violent will come of this Schism in the East.

-Pasha Blatkovetchkin, Coffermaster of Morek

Mid-Winter

The Sanguine Times has reduced its activities and issue schedule due to pressing matters in local affairs, battling monsters not being the least of them. However, as mid-winter approaches and many nobles are expected to take part in celebrations that will be held at various places across the islands, this is the perfect time for a new update. A lot has happened.

Trip to the West

King Glaumring Apasurain of Thulsoma left Dwilight, not for one of the other islands as some sometimes do, but for a much more perilous trip to the western edge of the world. There, or so the rumors go, he hopes to see the stars up close, maybe even to touch them. Is this craziness? The power of the Stars knows no bounds, and to assume their presence on this earth is impossible would be as arrogant on our part than hoping to touch them is.

A new Morek

The capital of Morek has been moved from its original location of Donghaiwei to Nifelhold, former capital of the Springdale Empire. Ostensibly aiming at better control over the Muspelheim regions, this move has only succeeded in the abandonment of regions on the southern border, while Muspel and Muspelheim are still ungoverned. For a while, even White Plains fell, disconnecting the capital from the realm!

Later on, Duke Sammael Haine resigned the position of Grandmaster, citing inability to dedicate the time that was required to rule a large realm. In an election, Grandmaster Rohk Darksun was elected as the new Grandmaster, Coffermaster and Sanguine Times Editor Pasha Blatkovetchkin and Sir Walter Darkwaggler being runner-ups.

Holy War against Averoth

After a careful study of its nature, Duke Indirik of Libidizedd produced a treatise on the evils on Torenism. After consideration, the Holy Prophet concluded that Torenism was not just a misguided religions that worshipped spirits of nature as we found many on our continent, but a truly evil entity to be eradicated by all means possible. The Warders of the Temple heeded the call and laid waste to the land of Averoth, the main base of the heathens.

Rebellion in Niselur

A rebellion unexpectedly arose in Niselur, spearheaded by the traitor Loki Ravenwulf. It rapidly emerged that this was an attempt by follower of the false god Tor to take control of the realm. The rebellion was quickly put down.

Magistratum called

A heated argument took place recently between many outstanding members of our faith, and the Magistratum was called to investigate a particular cause. Without ressassing details of an argument that seemed to verge on personal accusations to many, we at The Sanguine Times only hope the magistratum will have the wisdom to widen the scope of their investigations as large as possible, in order to put to rest once and for all unbased accusations, or to take forceful measures if some prove to be true.
