Description
Plain looking triangular shield in form of a kite shield, bears no distinguished markings other than exqusitely engraved symbol of a fox. The shield is made of obsidian and rather light to bear, yet extremely tough upon impact. Not especially thick, the shield is designed mainly for melee combat, specializing in diverting blows dealt by heavy weaponry such as a two-handed sword or a mace.

I had been searching and fighting small bands of undead in the area of Menedor for days along with my good friend Fenrigson. He had discovered and defeated several groups of undead. When I found him he was tired but happy. A few more coins to his his name. He pointed me in the direction the buggers had scurried off too when last he had made them taste his steel. After 2 hours, I finally found a small undead army.
They were lead by an undead champion, an evil creature with more power and intelligence than the usual lot. Uglier too, if you can believe that! Being familiar with these lands I was able to use the terrain to my advantage. Which was lucky for me this early in my adventuring career.
The battle raged, me against the undead. Minutes stretched to hours. I was overtaken by my warrior ancestors. They guided my arms and legs well. I was but a spectator, shattering the undead to dust left and right.
The champion had me concerned, as he was quite the opponent. Holding me off with his strange shield and raising his war hammer high aiming to crush my body to bloody pulp, he suddenly noticed I was staring him in the eye with a puzzled look on my face. I looked him in the eye for a moment. Suddenly I pointed slightly off to the right and shouted: "No no, Fenrigson, I will handle this myself!" The champion turned to eye up his new foe but found naught there to be seen. He turned around just in time to see my final blow land across his neck before his head toppled to the grass. In the end, he was just a pile of bones, too. I found some coin on him but the real treasure was his shield, the "Sacred Guard of Deception".
I have heard rumor that it was forged beneath Mount Sinclair. There is also a rumor it is from another land entirely. I may never know. But I am glad to have it.

My men have brought me this kite shield whilst on a looting spree in hilly Anfalas. At the time we were helping Hammarsett against accursed league of Corians and Tarans. Some poor peasant had it stored in a barn, unaware of the prestige that Sacred Guard of Deception brought to its bearer. The fox engraved on a shield seems to be of perfectly executed craftsmanship, however the rumours of the place where the shield had been forged are completely unreliable. After inquiring amongst master-blacksmiths throughout the continent, they seem to agree that Sacred Guard of Deception originates from Mnt. Sinclair.
