Some Excerpts from the Life of Willow Rossini

Willow was thankful for the Duke's hospitality and that she could finally get some rest. Having been on the open road for months she needed to just be still for a while and gather her thoughts. She spent the day sitting by the fire in the parlor of the small house that had been provided for her use. The high windows were on two sides bringing much light into the room. Yet despite the sun and the fire, Willow shivered and ordered rugs and firs to be brought to her as she lay reclined on a sofa.

She didn't eat much, despite having ideas of a grand meal. Instead she sipped on some broth and just stared at the fire, occasionally glancing out the window to watch the world go by. Traders by the dozen pulled carts to and fro in the street outside, along with soldiers marching in time with their Captain's orders. Once in a while a knight or lady on a horse or in a carriage would flit past.

But Willow barely notice any of them. She couldn't understand what was happening to her. She was a brave and ferocious warrior. All her life she had been as accurate with a bow as any man in her region. She took pride in being as tough as nails. But now... Now she just felt like sleeping all the time. She was agitated, distracted, gloomy almost. Then there were the dreams... nightmares more like. She shook her ahead and buried herself further under the covers. She preferred not to think about those nightmares. If only Freidrick were there. He might know what to do.
