If you are a new player you will probably want to read this one. For you experianced players, this won't help you much. Anyway this is to tell all new players exactly what a roleplay does and concludes any of the aspects they probably don't understand. Remember this isn't what a roleplay is it's how you should write it. So newbies listen up.

Roleplaying is excellent FULLSTOP! because you can show that you are intelligent and you will be more prone to be chosen for high duties around your realm. You also need roleplaying to get married as well. So if you want the ladies, first step is learn how to roleplay.

Anyway in the world of Battlemaster there are roleplays as you already know you can roleplay. A very very useful thing if you want to express excact ways of things that have happened. What is great about battlemaster is when you roleplay it means the event DID happen and can be used as reasons for wars blah, blah, blah, so on, so on, so on. Roleplaying can be used to create events. Usually these roleplays are incorporated by other peoples roleplays, they can just be used to say something like a real noble or just to get a picture of what your character is like. What this page is for is to specify these differences and tell you the different ways of writing a roleplay.

Speaking Like a Noble

So you want to make yourself sound goooooood. That's right we all want to make ourselves sound gooooood. In these roleplays we don't usually need speech marks or anything of the sort. We just write like we would write a normal message except using big words and you have to speak how your character and so on. I think you get it. This isn't so hard to understand.

Example:

Ryushui, you insolent creep!!! You now wish to execute me for mere treason after all that I have done for you. Why? Why do you always have to hurt anything that you envy, Anything that you are jealous of. There is always someone better Ryushui and that is a life's lesson.

To his honorable and esteemed lordship the Duke of Kep's Bay,

Upon receiving word of your request for reinforcements to protect the Duchy of Kep's Bay from the barbaric northerners, I have decided to lend you my sword. More importantly, the blades of my followers are also at your service. At first light today, I ordered the captains to rally the ducal forces. You've my word that the army shall reach you with the utmost celerity, despite treacherous terrain on the border between our respective duchies. With fair weather and no unexpected delays three full regiments should reach Kep's Bay at sunset in two days. Further, a fourth contingent of reserves and engineers should be there three days from today to aid you in the reconstruction efforts that will most surely follow after the glorious battle to come. May we meet with great success. I remain

Your humble and obedient servant,

the Duke of Osfori

Now that ain't your average letter. That's a Roleplaying Letter.

Describing your Character

When you describe your character without speaking or anything. This is mainly the same except any speech you would usually put in Italics.

Example:

Kazuma's hair was short and stiff. His eyebrows like a fierce array of soldiers and his burning eyes as determined as fox about to pounce on a chicken. In Kazuma's sweaty hand lay his long 7 foot polearm, The Ryozouji. It's long red handle with the Shenron insignia carved up to the top of the polearm, where the heavy blade at the end lay. Making the shape of the famous Ishiaki spearhead. He then rode forward into the sunset with his bright future that lay ahead.

See the things that are not descriptive are in Italics.

Interactive Roleplaying

This is the most common and most difficult roleplay that is required to enjoy battlemaster to it's fullest. With this one everything that is spoken is put in speech marks while actions and descriptions of the character while he/she is talking should be italic. As common courtesy, long descriptive paragraphs should not be italic because it is more difficult to read.

Remember, you can make a character you've made up think/act in any way you want. These thing can be in any way you see fit. Made up characters are an excellent way to build you characters personality or make an event involving different people. Like how you treat your Advisor or an event example is maybe how you made the townspeople rejoice with food or you kill an innocent to make yourself seem ruthless. Whatever the reason this is a great way to build personality an to have some fun with someone else's character. E.g. insulting them, without your reputation IC being ruined.

Avoid making other players' characters speak. Minor things, such as a "hello", or "hows the weather?" are fine because they just continue the conversation. However, the player is the only person that knows the personality of their character and how they would react in a situation.

Example:

Ryushui sat at his desk and awaited the arrival of his messenger Samura. Then the door opened and in came Samura with his usual arrogant look.

"Samura, Do you think what I did to Gamuran was just."

"Don't ask me Ryushui. I am only your messenger I wouldn't know."

Samura was getting extremely arrogant and seemed to be asking to be attacked.

"Address me as Sir or else."

"Or Else what SIR!!!"

Ryushui pulled out a knive and plunged it into Samura's chest. Blood leaked over his hand. He started to cry.

That was magic you see that. That's how an interactive roleplay should be done.
