Qubel

As the only rural area on the D'Hara isles, Qubel is often referred to as the bread basket of D'Hara, providing a constant source of food for the stronghold of Qubel Lighthouse, as well as a steady surplus to be sold on the sea lanes by the traders that brave the central sea.

The most notable feature of this flat expanse of land is that almost every acre has been given over to the cultivation of crops and orchards. The entire lands of Qubel are the property of the Count of Qubel so no fence or wall divides the fields and orchards. The peasantry of individual villages are not assigned particular areas of responsibility. Instead all villages work together under the supervision of the village headmen, allowing large work forces to be easily raised when required.

In order to maximize the land available for farming the population lives in villages that are built on wooden stilts along the beaches and out over the coastline. This strange arrangement is of great benefit to the people of the region, as the bounty of the sea is not subject to any tax by the Count and provides the majority of the sustenance for the peasantry.

The only exception to the unbroken fields is the small rocky outcrop close to the border shared with Nebel. Known as Qubel's Folly it is an area reputed to be inhabited by dark forces and is avoided by the local peasants. The only walls in Qubel are found here, with a 6 foot high stone wall surrounding the Folly. From time to time foul undead venture out from the Folly and it becomes necessary for the knights of the region to mount an expedition to rid the caves of the taint. However no matter how thorough the knights are in this task or how many wards the priest lay, the dark powers always rebuild their strength.

Temple of Sallow

In the region of Qubel, the major faith follows the regional variant proclaimed by their Lord, the Dark Count Bowie Ironsides, The Way of the Arexi Dragon.

This temple is used for all of the major social functions as well as religious rites. The ancestors are worshipped with an altar outside in front of the temple, and a short distance away, still apart of the compound, is the Sallowsian-styled duelling ring.

On the Wall of Triumph, inside the Temple, are plaques celebrating those who have taken victory in duels of honour in the ring.

The Wall of Triumph

1. Lord Bowie Ironsides took victory over Lord Hexic Jeckyl on the 23rd of March in the Sixth Year of Dwilight.

2. Lord Mathias Ridder took victory over Lord Rathan Himoura on the 18th of April in the Sixth Year of Dwilight.

Dueling Capital

In Qubel, there existed a dueling ring built by Prince Bowie during his reign of the region. It was in this ring where the victors for the Wall of Triumph were made. Much later, after the Prince stepped down and was replaced by Count Gislher, the ring was upgraded to a full out guild called the Dwilight Dueling Circuit. The arena in this region then is the first and the capital of all of the guild houses across D'Hara.
