Character

Too Young

Daneel is a young man who carries the high hopes of his family. He is the firstborn of his family and knows his responsibilities. He sought after glory and fame for his family, and rarely considered his own happiness. He loved his brother, Giskard, and his sister, Gloria. He always remembered them and wrote back his experiences in letters to them, hoping that they would benefit from them and not make the same mistakes as he did. He is extremely intelligent and an utmost opportunist, as such he is always on the lookout for something better. He is an eloquent man, though sometimes too cunning for his own good. He has high ambitions, and is just in diplomatic matters.

Early Life

Life In Tara

Narration is done in omnipotent third person.

Beginning Steps

Soon after Daneel joined the realm of Tara, he began to make friends and look for a job. After some searching, Daneel sought for and was accepted for a position under Duke Jose of Aja. Packing his belongings and saying goodbye to his small village in his home region, Daneel ventured to Aja with his soldiers.

Upon arrival in Aja, he met the servants assigned to care for his new estate, and found them to be capable. He used part of the gold his family bestowed on him before he left along with some gold his Duke gifted him to order construction to begin on his estate. It soon became a large estate set on benefiting the production of Aja. The people of Aja were grateful for Daneel and his servants' help benefiting the region as a whole, so they recognized him as a Knight with a claim on their region. Not many Knights under the Duke enjoy this privilege, and Daneel felt that it was his first accomplishment outside of home.

He was soon assigned into the Army of Tara to assist in driving away the realm of Minas Ithil. He gladly informed his troops of this news and they rejoiced along with him for their new assignment. Though in the midst of rejoicing, there was a moment of silence as they remembered the perils of battle, and their friends whom they may never see again back in Byblack. The following morning, they all packed their belongings and began the journey to the front lines, the rogue province of Chuca.

The First Battle

It was not long before Daneel arrived in the bleak region of Chuca, the people there looked at him and his men with distaste and hatred. He shuddered when he met the eyes of a child in the village. Their hatred influenced Daneel greatly, he vowed to do everything in his power to cure this region and the world. He made this solemn vow silently and forced himself to look ahead to the greater reward. It was not long before his courier delivered some recent news in a neighbouring region, Cori, he read. They were besieged by monsters and the people were afraid. Remembering his vow, he quickly wrote back, promising his support and charged toward Cori at full speed, not knowing what lies ahead.

Daneel and his men were stationed behind the walls of Cori. The monsters charged at the gates while the archers in front fired at them. Only a few monsters fell to the arrows, as only skilled archers were able to pierce their hardened skin. The archers moved back, it's time for the infantry to move forward. Daneel signaled to his men and they began charging towards the outskirts of the castle walls. The monsters were outnumbered 10 to 1, and it was a bloody battle. Since there were so many soldiers involved, Daneel's men were only able to barely scratch one before all the monsters were slain. Though not much experience was gained, Daneel felt a stronger tie to his men after his first real battle, and they celebrated at a local pub. (OOC: +3 Honour, +1 Prestige)

While returning to Aja to refit and repair the weapons of his men, Daneel passed a village near Cori and were invited by the villagers to a ceremony of appreciation. He realized that the monsters would have swarmed these villages near Cori after its walls were torn down, and the villagers recognized him as one of the knights fighting off the monsters. He remembered his vow, and solemnly thanked the villagers for their kindness. He could no longer go back to his home as a nameless noble, he must conquer these evils, and in doing so attain glory and fame! Or that was what he thought during his trek back to the city of Aja.

Preparing for War

In the city of Aja Daneel encountered lady Elowen Du Blois and repaired his equipment. He felt some need for fresh personalities in his ranks so he recruited 10 Inxi soldiers. They were carrying some of the best weapons realm wide, and Daneel thought that his soldiers might learn from them. It turned out that they didn't know much about those weapons either, and were poorly trained to start with. That is something Daneel will have to fix in the near future. He spend quite a long time at the academy trying to learn some swordfighting for the upcoming battles, and he succeeded in improving his skills a little bit after almost a day of training. He went back to camp tired, and wishing for a good night's rest as they will travel to Chuca for the real battles beginning tomorrow.

Role Playing

These are role playing narrations in-game.

Meeting Lady Du Blois

Aja was surely the strongest stronghold Daneel has ever witnessed. Its walls are thick and ancient, protecting its citizens from all the woes of nature. Inside the city was a buzz of excitement due to the many nobles making their preparation for war against the evils of Minas Ithil. Many citizens greeted Daneel as he walked pass them since his servants have been faithfully following his orders to assist the people of the land. He passed a local metalsmith who was busy repairing the equipment of many soldiers passing through. The shimmer of his own sword and the swords of his men caught Daneel's eye as he remembered that it was this smithy who he hired to repair his weapons. Daneel enjoyed the crowded atmosphere of the city as opposed to his secluded life in the Olivaw manor.

As he passed by a local inn, he saw a lady who seemed like she was in need of something. He walked closer and saw that she was a pretty Dame who looked like she was lost. He himself did not know the city very well, but he has strolled through many of its streets during his afternoon walks and has gotten to know many of the citizens here. He felt confident in case the lady needed some simple directions, so he walked up and introduced himself.

"Dear lady, I don't believe I have seen you around here before, you must have traveled here recently. My name is Daneel of the Olivaw Family. I am a Knight of Aja at your service. If there's anything you need, just ask," Daneel politely took off his hat and bowed slightly.

The lady seemed intrigued by this stranger in front of her.

[Elowen]Reply

Elowen waited patiently outside of the Bloody Boar, a shady inn nestled tightly in the narrow street. Poor quarter was rife with murderers, heretics and raucous drunks, even in the brightest sun could not dispel the darkness cast by the high reaching half timbered structures. Having donned a pale blue hooded cloak to avert the gaze of suspicion, she began rummaging through her satchel. Her contact would arrive soon, assosiation alone could result in persecution.

Interuption was unexpected, the rumble of a mans voice distilled terror within Elowen forcing her to step back in surprise. Looking upon the man, she noted his doffed hat and warm smile, taking in several words of what he spoke.

"S-Sir Daneel?" The remnants of fear caused her voice to be little more than a stuttered murmer. Realising how suspicious she may appear, she stood tall and breathed deep, ready for another try.

"Sir Daneel Olivaw, it is a pleasure to meet you." With a small curtsey, Elowen continued "I am Elowen Du Blois, Dame of Foda. I was not expecting company, so please excuse my... startled introduction. Assistance is not required, i know the city maze well enough and my loyal servant is always near and accomidating of my needs. Did you wish for anything else?" Elowen knew her contact would slip by unnoticed if she was saw with a man garbed so obviously as a noble. She only hoped he wished for little more than to chance upon a lonely looking woman...

A Stranger

Daneel felt that the lady was afraid of something, but he couldn't understand who could trouble such a nice and polite lady. He put his hat back on and replied, "I am sorry that I disturbed you, pardon me. It seemed that you were troubled by something. My men and I are soon going back to the battlefield, so I won't be in the city for long, but my Duke Jose is a very kind and easygoing man, so if anything is wrong or anyone wrongs you, he will make sure that justice is done on your behalf."

While Daneel is yet speaking, a suspicious figure passed by behind the lady and seemed annoyed. Daneel noticed that although the man wore tattered clothes and is obviously a peasant, his shoes were of surprisingly good material. As the man passed the lady looked behind at him and seemed somewhat stunned. He realized that she must have been looking for him, rather than looking for somewhere as he presumed. He didn't want to bother the lady anymore, as she must have some business with the man.

"I will be taking my leave now, lady Du Blois, if you ever need anything, don't be afraid to pass by my estate. I will instruct my servants to treat you well, and I will remain in the city until my weapons are repaired. It was nice to meet you, lady Du Blois."

As Daneel turned around, he saw a few more peasants walk this way and he somehow had a bad feeling about this.

[Elowen]Strangers

Elowen edged toward Sir Daneel, fearful of these peasents emerging from the dark recesses of the street. Most were filthy, dressed in tattered grime encrusted rags, large rocks or makeshift bludgeons clutched in their hands. These were easily dealt with, even by such a novice swordswoman, it was the man and his arban which struck terror into Elowen. Four men garbbed in blood red robes concealing all but their pale white faces stood either side of their leader, differing to his followers with a large unrecognizable gold symbol strung around his neck. Slowly, with menacing intent the man drew a silver ornamental dagger, raising his free hand to point at Daneel.

"Tell me, boy, why is it you intervene in my work? The good lady is obliged to assist me, now step aside or meet the Maker!

Elowen shied behind the bulk of Daneel as the peasents crept ever closer...

Conflict

Daneel felt someone call out to him from behind, as he turned he saw lady Elowen dodge behind him, which made him cautious. Though he was not a master swordsmen, he did take a few days while staying in Aja to train his swordfighting skills. He wasn't sure he could take these men on all at once, so he tried some diplomacy.

"You were talking to me?" Daneel addressed the man wielding the silver dagger. "I will let you know that such weapons should not be drawn unless at a blacksmith in Aja as per the law of the city. Now I'm a kind noble, so I will forgive your trespasses today if you sheath your dagger right this moment." While speaking Daneel put his hand on the handle of his personal blade, as the long sword used in battle is being repaired right now.

The man chuckled, and replied, "What do you think, we're law abiding peasants? You're wrong, and now either hand the lady over or, you don't want to know." The man laughed again, his laugh was very irritating to Daneel.

While he was talking, Daneel whispered to the lady, "I can't defeat all of them while protecting you, when I say go, run as fast as you can to the alley to the right of us, follow that, and it will lead you to my estate, where my servants will protect you. Don't worry about me."
