SanMuerte Fantom was serving the realm of Norland as an Adventure fighting the undead and monsters that were running rampage there. He was in the region of Brackhead, when he came upon a small undead army.

A battle took place and raged for 2 hours; SanMuerte's blows land true, shattering most of them to dust. Then as it looks like it is over, out of the woods steps an undead champion, an evil creature with more power and intelligence than the usual lot. The smaller undead called it, Esqueleto FríoFeo. It looked so freighting, smelled so bad and was so ugly, SanMuerte could not tell if it was male or female.

Esqueleto FríoFeo made SanMuerte fight for his life, which almost ended several times when SanMuerte found himself flat on his back after multiple vicious attacks. The undead champion was like no other undead warrior he had met. But in the end, just as Esqueleto FríoFeo was starting to recite some scary verses from a golden book, SanMuerte relieved the undead champion's head from its body with a double handed stroke of his sword. Leaving Esqueleto FríoFeo just a pile of bones.

Among what is left of the champion, he found treasures worth a total of 1 gold, 11 silver plus the golden book which seemed to give off a light of its own. The book was a unique item, the fabled manuscript, the "Old Book of the Dead". If Esqueleto FríoFeo had managed to recite the death passage from the book SanMuerte's life ended as he knew it.

SanMuerte remembered the stories that the fabled manuscript was made by an ancient wizard undead king and he would be the first man to touch it. He had thought that the stories were fables that described that any passage read from the book would come true. From simple death to change a human into an undead, to fire and ice storms. To read from the book would require a human of great strength and fortitude.

So SanMuerte found a passage calling up fire. Addressing an old dead tree, he read the passage. Sure enough, as he stated the final word, the tree burst into such intense flames that it burned the front of SanMuerte vest and destroyed any remains of the old tree.

Equipped with "Old Book of the Dead", SanMuerte was off again to chase down any undead or monster that would cross his path.
