Part of the Raiding of Al Amarah

It is early morning in the townsland of Al Amarah. In Al Amarah town, the greatest town of the region, people wake up and prepare to get to work and live their life. The little town is directly on the coast, to the front is the sea, to its back a hill. Secured by a Motte and Bailey, the peasants live there in safety and do what they were born to do, some are farmers, some are fishers. They thought themselves safe -- until today.

Suddenly the church bell sound alarm! Every man who can carry a pitchfork or a fishing rod runs towards the walls to reinforce the local militia garrison. Fishing rods? Yes, believe it or not, these fishers were famous for using their fishing rods like lashes in battle and some people have lost an eye or another part of their body to the deadly fishhooks of these fishing rods! To their apparent luck there is also a small Infantry unit that was resting on this day in Al Amarah town. So these men too are also quickly found on the wall starring up the hill.

A Sirionite army has arrived. Not a big one though, mainly archers who immediately start firing. The local mayor of Al Amarah, a rather self confident man, immediately orders his proud vigilante group of 42 angry peasants to storm outside the wall to engage the archers. He was rather convinced that those archers could not withstand the powerful fishing rods of Al Amarah! Soon you can see 42 madmen storming out of the town's gate, yelling at the enemy, shouting loudly around contradicting formation orders and hysterically swinging their fishing rods! After a few yards of advance they become all prey to the elven archers and lay dead in front of the town walls.

Then the elves, real sharpshooters as they are, take on the men on the walls. One by one the humans on the wall get shot down. At the same time a medium sized group of infantry attacks with ladders towards the wall. They put up the ladders in front of the walls and start climbing, covered by the archer fire of their fellow soldiers on the hill. The first get on the wall and get wounded or die immediately but soon the Infantry numbers and the continuous archer fire make the difference. The leader of the attacking Infantry Atanamir of Umbar, finally finds himself in a deadly duel with the highest ranking noble of the defending side, named Iridian, and slashes deeply into his upper thigh. Wounded, Iridian makes it on his horse though and can escape from the town leaving his dead and wounded men behind.

The battle is won, the walls of Al Amarah and once more the day is Sirion's. Atanamir knew what was next to come. "Where is your tax collector?" he asked some shocked peasants nearby...
