Editor Mathros  Daemons invade Evora!! 31 March 1012 We all knew this day would come! Warnings of the events on Beluaterra have reached the ear of many nobles across the East continent for some time now. Today a demonic portal opened over Evora and the following message was sent to all nobles of East continent. Letter from 1st Son Message sent to the Rulers of East Continent On this day, we have our greatest triumph. Your brethren have failed and fallen, and now we finally know where to find the rest of your pathetic, worthless race. On this day, you shall suffer for eternity. 1st Son Shortly after this a thirty thousand CS army of Demons arrived in Evora and have started a Brutal Takeover of the region. If Westmoor's problems were not enough we will now have to deal with a full scale daemon invasion! There were a few militia inside the walls of Evora but these were soon massacred by strange winged demons that were able to fly over the fortifications! A further message which was sent to Westmoor’s council outlined that Westmoor was the first realm to suffer the wrath of the demon kind. The other portals across East continent have not yet fully opened but when they do it is expected that similar numbers of daemons will invade both Eponllyn and Armonia and Sirion in the north. An emergency meeting has been called amongst members of the military council to consider how to tacle this new threat!  Westmoor loses battle in Greatbridge! 29 March 1012 It was a tough battle but unfortunately Westmoor was no match for the Fontanese army in Greatbridge. It’s unthinkable but somehow Fontan has raised a 20,000 CS army with only one city and a few rural regions. This in comparison is an army roughly the same strength as Sirion. Fontan has been using its superior strength to loot Westmoorian Regions and begin a takeover in Greatbridge. The WC and RG have both retreated with many wounded from the battle. The armies are now heading back through Hagley for a refit in Westmoor City. How Fontan can afford to pay for such a large army and maintain it is a complete mystery but Westmoor will do it’s best to fight back anyway we can. Message from the Lord General Thomas Foxglove: Ribbons of courage, in traditional Westmoorian blue, are to be presented to the following by fair maidens of Westmoor. He was flung from the cliffs of Evora where ultimately his body was broken on the rocks below. This goes out as a message to Fontan that Westmoor will no longer tolerate acts of infiltration on our nobles or regions. Infiltrators from Fontan can consider their lives forfeit if they so happen to step into Westmoorian dungeons.  Cease fire with Fontan ends and War begins! 24 March 1012 The Ceasefire with Fontan ended today. Many outside readers of New Westmoor might at this time be saying “what cease fire? I thought there was peace?”. This was never the case and those in Westmoor and Fontan will know (as documented in this paper back in the crazy month of October) that this was never a finite truce and was only established so that both realms could come to a true ‘peace’. Fontan refuses to accept any peace agreement that Westmoor presents to it instead demanding gold and regions while militarizing its army to bursting point. King Maedros couldn’t achieve a peace with Fontan as every time they would ask for regions or vast numbers of gold. King Jor presented a sensible peace to Fontan and they stalled always claiming every time as they do that they will ‘discuss’ it in their parliament. As Fontan has had several months to discuss the numerous messages that Westmoor has sent it can only be assumed that they have no intention of a true peace and are simply stalling until they can find a way to war us where they can win. King Jor’s letter sent to all rulers of the continent can be found on our letters page. Fontan has had long enough do discuss the situation on paper unfortunately now we will both have to discuss it on the battlefield. Westmoor goes to War!  Edward Anthony Mercer wins the prize! 15 March 1012 Edward Anthony’s fame as a swordsman increased twofold today as he won the Westmoor sword fighting tournament. After a well fought final round from both competitors, Edward Anthony was proclaimed the victor with Ivo Mersault receiving second prize. Congratulations were given across Westmoor to the winner. In a speech to all nobles at the tournament Edward Anthony said: I am glad that this was such a well-attended tournament. It was great to see so many nobles from all across the continent. Ivo was definitely a worthy opponent, and Sirion should be proud today. I hope that everyone has enjoyed the hospitality of Westmoor, and that we will continue to meet each other on the tournament fields of our realms at least as often as on the battlefields. Outside of the tournament grounds Hergoervik Draekarne wins the Beer Prince honorary title for most drinks bought. His three round generosity at the tavern of our lady was responsible for knocking out at least half of the nobles from the first round. The Best Bard title goes to Erik Eyolf from Sirion having the only bard present at the tournament. Best dancing couple goes to Nathanial Cordon-D’Anerville from Fontan and Henrik Enstance from Perdan whose Sarabande moved the hearts of all those present.  Merry making as more arrive 13 March 1012 Many more nobles over the past few days have joined the merry making inside Westmoor city most notably Eric Eyolf Serpentis duke of Avamar and organiser of the previous tournament in January. After a hostile remark in response to comments about Oligarch’s ownership the duke’s bard serenaded all those present at the Tavern of our Lady with an unusual song about infamous Fontanese assassin Zartos ut Daris titled The little Dagger and the Long Sword. The song referred to an unspecified date presumably during the Northern War when the infiltrator attempted to stab then Judge Eric while he was enjoying himself with two beautiful women. The Judge apparently then fended the infiltrator off and chased him out of the tent (clothing lacking similarly as one can imagine). Zartos who is present at the tournament holds bans in Sirion and Caligus and is wanted in Westmoor for the stabbing of then king Maedros early last year. His freedom is protected by his right to attend the tournament. The Tavern has been unusualy busy over the last few days with nobles doing anything to get away from the tents at the tournament grounds. Heavy rain over the last few days has turned the grounds in the living quarters into mud and some grumbling has been abound about the smell. However men are at work with rakes and shovels to try and clean up some of the streets in and around the tournament grounds thanks to the generous donation of Antonius Turner who has invested family wealth in the city. The number of nobility at the tournament has now reached fifty seven.  Tournament in Westmoor City! 11 March 1012 Yesterday Duke Maedros Iltaran announced a tournament to be held in Westmoor city for sword fighting. The winner will be rewarded with five hundred gold pieces and the second best will receive one hundred and fifty. The prize money is slightly less than Eric Eyolf’s tournament back in January but comparatively the price for entering is half that of the Avamar tournament. Westmoor was highly participative in the last tournament in Avamar and nobles starred highly in the final rounds. Hopefully with the tournament being held in Westmoor itself we’ll again see a high level of participation from all sword fighting nobles of the realm. Heavy weight Sir Edward Antony marshal of the Royal Guard who won second place in the last tournament has already entered along with Marshal of the WC Ravier Nebehn. Let’s hope for an honourable series of friendly duals from the nobles across East continent during this peace time. I'll be at the tournament participating and will report back to New Westmoor anything of interest that happens.  Zakilevo departs Westmoor 4 March 1012 Zakilevo Lapallanch the former general of Sirion, turned priest, departs Westmoor today towards the realm of Perdan. Zakilevo has for the last week been in Westmoor city as well as visiting some of the surrounding regions in an effort to improve diplomatic relations between Westmoor and Sirion. The Priest spoke convincingly of Sirion’s intention to have good relations with Westmoor as did King Jor who in conversation the two seemed to be able to overcome their differences of faith for the better of both realms. Zakilevo addressing the nobles within Westmoor city spoke of the changes in the church of the sacred grove of which he seems to be deeply involved. The church has undergone extensive changes with the recognition of a large number of new deities known as divines. The church of the holy sacred grove now recognises nine celestial divines, nine terrestrial divines and four seasonal divines which have revealed themselves to priests of that faith. Zakilevo also spoke highly of Sirion’s prime minister Ilias Thunthorn (who just today was re-elected; see regional news) whom he claims has strong support amongst the Republic and is not a man to start war without good reason. The priest also spoke of some trouble with Nivemus’ council being unresponsive after a family won two positions but this seems to have been fixed now by King Talius. Hetrow Kinsey keeps Ibladesh alive with string I was about to note that with the collapse of Dayr Ibladesh was officially a dead realm however when my scribes investigated the matter it turns out that the region of Al Aquabah is currently flying an Ibladeshi flag. This all seems to be down to the work of former Sultanese Flow Priest Hetrow Kinsey (now we presume priest of the church of Ibladesh) who seems to be running a rather humorous rebel campaign against Perdanese and Caligan rule. Hetrow was responsible for the region of Dayr changing to Ibladeshi rule some time ago. As Perdan’s army entered Dayr Hetrow seems to have snuck out into Al Aquabah holding down the position of General and Banker. The region of Dayr swiftly claimed Eponllyn as their new realm.
