Origin

The Mysterious Buckler of Niel was create by one of the craftsman that built the first walls of the fortifications of Niel. This craftsman was a devoted follower of Sartan and covered the shield with inscriptions of power honoring the Lord of Battle in order to present it to the duke of the city. However, while on his journey to the city from his home to deliver the shield the craftsman was assaulted by thieves and killed. The thieves however were quickly struck down by Sartan's wrath and the Mysterious Buckler of Niel was lost to time in the forests surrounding Niel.

Rediscovery

Over time the powerful inscriptions to Sartan had lost their power and when Lornak Askari stumbled upon it on the 27th day of March in the year 2008 it was but a mere shadow of its former greatness. However Lornak was a seasoned adventurer and immediately recognized that the shield was greater than its appearance would suggest. Lornak quickly tracked down a descendant of the Mysterious Buckler's creator who was able to restore some of its sacred power. As the Mysterious Buckler of Niel is used in battle it slowly will regain its arcane might as Sartan's favor returns to the inscriptions.
