The Mithridates Family

Archive of RP Logs

Background

The Mithridates Family is an ancient, yet quite unknown house. It's founding is rather obscure, but it is told that a wealthy merchant by the name of Gustav used much of his wealth in order to purchase land in Dolmbar that the families ancient estate stood for many generations. Thus the Mithridates clan was formed. Over the years various descendants of Gustav I occupied the land that he had bought and slowly they expanded it. It was a fairly small estate, lying at the end of a long dirt road it is nestled in the ancient boughs of the forests of Dolmbar. They made most of their profit from selling lumber and from the wine fermented in their own cellars.

More recently, the family estate has been moved to Dale under the leadership of the fifth head of the family, Vessol Mithridates. The estate is fairly large and operates heavily on farming the massive wheat fields of Dale. They also are known for establishing the first brewery in Dale, producing mass quantities of ale that is consumed throughout the north.

The current head of the Mithridates clan is Vessol.

Vessol

Introduction

A middle-aged and battle-worn man. He has strong convictions of honor and valor and finds the ideas of deceit and shadow play to be below him. He has a strong belief in the hierarchy of the feudal society he is a part of, but views the commoners under him as he might his own bastard children instead of the livestock that many of his fellow nobles see them as. He wears a long ponytail of black hair behind his head and maintains and clean shaven face.

During his time in Sirion he has fought in many battles in the long war against Fontan and the Sultanite of Asena. When a call for the role was asked, he sent in a letter requesting to be the Vice Marshal of the Army of Sirion. This was accepted and he served in the north of Sirion in the campaign against SoA. Soon, however, when General Ryu stepped down, Ilias was named the new general and Vessol was promoted to the Marshal of the Army of Sirion which averaged 50 knights. Inexperienced, he had some blunders, but he generally lead the army to both victories and defeats.

Citing wishes to study and to be free of command, he retired the position as Marshal. Soon after when the region of Dale was captured by Sirion, he was named the Count of Dale by Prime Minister Meristenzio for his long service to Sirion.

When the new realm of Nivemus was established in Ashforth by Sirion as the promise to restore the kingdom of Old Rancagua, Vessol joined the realm and brought Dale as its first rural region. During this time his father, Gustav III died, and he was named the head of the Mithridates family, he sold off his ancient family land in Dolmbar and established a massive family estate in the rolling planes of Dale. A few months afterwards, Vessol was appointed as Marshal of the Army of Nivemus. When Legodos Neji resigned from his position, Vessol ran for the position and was elected.

Samos

Description

A tall imposing man with a gaunt face. He is bald and has a short beard upon his face.

Samos is the third son of Gustav II and the uncle of Vessol. He is often a silent man, but is quick to anger. He is known to dress in boiled leather and mail which is covered by a bulky robe of burgundy red. He also dresses the men of his units in similar garb.

Joining the realm of Morek, he was soon involved with the war against Thulsoma. He witnessed first hand the barbarous nature of the heathen Saxons and assisted with the siege and destruction of Storms End. Soon after, he sided with Allison Kabrinskia when she rebelled against the Morek Empire and formed Entai in Aegir. Soon after he joined Astrum when Lady Allison did. There he fought against the remnants of Thulsoma who took refuge in Averoth.

When Lady Allison left Astrum, Samos joined her in the founding of the Theocracy of Kabrinskia.

When Kabrinskia ceased to exist, Samos was one of the founding nobles of the Farronite Republic out of Golden Farrow. He had been a large supporter of republicanism and designed the banner of the new republic. In his older age he has become more conservative. He would rather spend his time enriching the land and making it more prosperous than fighting heathens. Still a strong Astroist, he mistrusts non-Astroists, but believe that an open-hand should be offered in order to improve the land.

Introduction

A tall and handsome man. He has short-cropped obsidian black hair and tight assessing gray eyes. His nose is hawkish in it's features and his face looks as if it was chiseled from a chunk of stone.

The eldest of son of Gustav III. As a young man he was rash and stubborn. Growing up he constantly would disappear for weeks at a time, only to appear with bruises and bloodstains speckled on his garments. He eventually became a apprentice ranger to a local militia in Dolmbar, however he quickly grew bored of tracking wolves and protecting livestock. Even the occasional monster or undead spotting he soon found to be tiresome. One night he broke into a verbal fight with his father, accusing his father of apathy towards the war that Sirion had fought for so long. The next day he left the estate, forsaking his claim to it. By the end of the month he was seen boarding a ship to the far Western continent of Dwilight, intent on making the name of Mithridates mean something more than that of minor noble merchant house.

He is currently in deep meditation and asceticism in Golden Farrow.

Brand

Introduction

The second eldest son of Gustav III. A dry and silent man. He prefers the company of books to that of other people. Growing up he took a keen interest in his fathers book keeping and business. At the age of 16, his father expected him to take over the business when he was older, Brand shocked him by stating that he wished to set forth and explore the world while he was still young. A year later he set off towards the docks of Avamar and took a boat to the west to the lands of Atamara.

In Atamara he found a liege in Carelia who would take his oath. He stayed here for awhile, but not long. The land seemed old, but full of pointless and futile wars over the smallest of matters. Hearing whisperings of a new invasion of monsters in the lands of Beluaterra, he quickly made his way to a dock and left behind the lands of Atamara.

Arriving in the realm of Sint, the nobles there quickly offered him a position. Eager to see and hear of the news, Brand was soon disappointed in his learning that the battles were far from Sint. He soon learned that the people of Sint were allied in a way to the Daemons of the north through some religion. Perking his interest, Brand took the initiative to join this religion and to learn more. He learned little however. He participated in a few battles against minor threats to the land and briefly with one of Sint's neighbors. But he quickly grew disquieted by the nature of Sint's pact with the daemons and the quietness of the news coming from Firbalt. Returning to that city, he set to studying the history of the realm and the nature of the relationship. In his scholarly interest, Brand forgot to pay the men of his unit. Soon after he found himself tied up and beaten by his own men who then robbed him. Shamed and growing sick of this land and others, Brand decided to return to his home of Sirion.

His time in Sirion was spent different than his past. He joined the Sirion Scarlet Hunters and became a courtier/trader who worked to help the interior lands of Sirion. While in Dale helping his younger brother Vessol, he was captured by Sultanite forces and was exported to Atamara due to his previous ban from being captured before.
