The Merry Family

Archibald Merry was a minor noble from a forgotten corner of Redspan, in Atamara. After sowing his wild oats, as all young men do, he settled down with his chosen bride. Much to his mother's chagrin, the young lady in question was the beautiful daughter of a poor tenant farmer, but he loved her dearly. The young Lady Merry was, however, a bit overawed by her change is social position, and in an attempt to mollify her mother-in-law, became not a bit snobby. Archibald never regretted his choice, even though Lady Merry provided him with nothing but daughters. He loved every one of his girls, and spoiled them all. The eldest of his daughters is Annalise, followed closely by Anya. Finally, there is Ancelin- pretty, spoiled, and perhaps the most determined of them all.

Annalise Merry

The eldest of the beautiful Merry girls, Annalise spent much time in her father's company and, when her mother wasn't looking, learned many of the things that he had one day hoped to teach a son. When she set off to earn her family a good name, Archibald's pride shielded her from her mother's disappointment.

Annalise was a knight of Ambermel and a proud member of Da Guild of Da Goat, commanding a small infantry unit which after taking part in an historic victory, seemed unable to survive any battle intact. Her ability to belch loudly won their grudging admiration, but she found the goat-eat-goat culture of Redspan overwhelming (in many ways) and decided to emigrate to the Colonies, where life was reputed to move a little bit slower.

After spending time getting familiar with Oritolon, Annalise turned her hand to bureaucracy, deciding that this would be a more fruitful way of helping her new-chosen realm prosper. After a while, she was given the title of Countess of Sovonoval, and she worked hard to improve her lands. However, the colonies, though young, seemed full of ancient fueds and rivalries whose origins were forgotten. Tired of never-ending battles for ideals no one could quite remember, Annalise relinquished her title and set off, once again, for a new land.

Her ship dropped her in Beluaterra, and she shortly found herself in Unger, Valentia's capital. Hard work earned her Lordship of the region of Affkat. Shortly after she took on this role, Valentia became a part of Melhed. Now Annalise serves as a (disgruntled) member of Melhed's red-tape loving bureacracy, but her heart remains Valentian.

Anya Merry-Fionn

Headstrong, talkative and optimistic, Anya chaffed at her mother's expectations and despised the parade of pale, stammering young men from which she was expected to choose a husband. After one suitor too many, she took her allowance and boarded the first ship available, ending up in the Far East, in the Grand Lodge of Lunaria. The sea voyage gave her a taste for adventure, and so once landed she hired a small band of archers and set about finding some. So far, all she has found is a handsome young man and 32 paper drink umbrellas. (She is convinced that if a drink isn't in danger of being tipped over by the weight of the garnishes, it mustn't be worth bothering with).

After several eventful months in the Lodge, Anya has lost in a tournament, stormed the castle, singlehandedly saving a rebellion from failure solely by virtue of being the only rebel left conscious at the end of the fight, fallen off her horse twice, and has recently been wed to Tiernan Fionn, the handsomest, kindest, most wonderful man on the continent. They were wed between the wings of Sol and Luna by their dear friend San as the sun set in the courtyard of the temple Tiernan had just finished building.

While Tiernan was away on a mysterious errand for Luna, Anya spent much time improving her swordsmanship, and although her performance in the recent round of tournaments was mediocre, she has bested San and Tiernan. San's skills are among the highest in the realm, and Tiernan's are nothing to be sneezed at. You go girl!!

Joy and sorrow mix in Lunaria, and Anya was sad to see her dear friend San leave, followed shortly by her brother-in-law, Brian. Even sadder was the news that Brian had been killed on East Continent. Tiernan was heart-broken, but Anya's news that a child was on the way did lift his spirits somewhat. When the time came, Anya gave birth to healthy twins- a son, named Brian for his deceased uncle, and a daughter named Christina (Tiny) for her grandfather.

Luna called again, and Tiernan left. Lunaria was at war with Soliferum when word came of his death. Anya, now fiduciary and Countess, continued on as best she could with sorrow in her heart. Sol took over the region in which she was countess, and when the cease-fire agreement stripped her of her title as Fiduciary, she decided to make the most of her time at home with her children.

Some while later, the present ruler having departed to research ocean currents, Anya was chosen as the new Pontifex of the Grand Lodge of Lunaria. Nervous at holding such responsibility, she swore to do all she could to restore Lunaria.

Ancelin Merry

As the baby of the Merry family, Ancelin spent her entire childhood trying to keep up to her older sisters. While they petted and spoiled her, she felt that no one ever took her seriously. When both of her sisters left to find their way in the world, Ancelin found herself the sole recipient of her mother's attentions. It didn't take long for the novelty of this to wear off. Determined to win the respect she imagined she lacked, Ancelin headed straight for the war-torn continent of South-East Island, where she promptly joined the losing side.

After the gods visited South-East island, Ancelin found herself in the realm of Toren, in Toren Stronghold. Finding herself alone and a bit frightened, she swore fealty to the Lady Katrina, becoming a knight of Kail. Determined to make a home and a name for herself, she eagerly awaits each new day.

Tor spoke to Ancelin in the night, and since then she has been driven, feeling herself an instrument of Tor. She was captured in the battle at Cave of Guilt but mercifully released due to careful diplomacy on the part of Toren's gracious rulers. When she is not working herself ragged, training and fighting alongside her men, she is usually found praying, or just watching.

It seems that someone has been watching her back, for mysterious treasures have been arriving via Karibash, from a suitor on Atamara. Ancelin has been unable to find out much about this man, save that Karibash vouches that he is honourable, and he must be wealthy to send such fine gifts.
