Proper Roleplay in Melodia

What we mean and how serious we are with this.

Your superiors should always be addressed with their entire title or at least with the higher one. Failure to do so may be considered an indirect insult, thus depending on the personality of the receipient, the appropriate title should be used.

  • Letters are always letters.

Letters should have the form of a letter. They should never be used as "chat", but rather have the following form:
"Appropriate Title,

Text................................................................................
..........................................text......................................
...............................................................................text.

Whatever,
Signature/Seal/etc."

  • Our characters have no supernatural powers.

Not everyone can see or hear everything happening in the realm. Thus, roleplay open to interaction with other characters should evolve on a regional level. If you wish for everyone to know more of your character's deeds, then write a letter to us bragging for them.
Also, try to not play the hero guy, every human has weaknesses and peculiar personalities add much to the pleasant atmosphere of a realm. :D Yeah, go avarice, go pride!

  • Rumours travel fast, especially when they are bad.

If you wish to ensure that your character's personality remains hidden, but enjoy storytelling, then it is suggested that your "storytelling roleplays" are submitted with a clear indication that the information shared is not available as rumours. Rumours from commoners though are not always valid. ;)

  • Not everyone is equal.

For instance, it is suggested that your character communicates through the feudal hierarchy; directly contacting a superior trespassing a liege's authority over your character may be considered an indirect insult to both the liege and the superior.
Nonesense like directly contacting the ruler/royal council asking for gold or complaining for a liege will be frowned and may even result to punishment. There is a chain of command, a specific feudal hierarchy, and there is available to anyone for a reason. Regarding communication, contact the liege who will then contact his liege who will then contact the appropriate supreme authority...if he dares to bring up a problem and show incompetence.

  • Stay in role.

Some nobles may be very strict, stupid, bloody, crazy, whatever... Remember that we are all roleplaying and we try to be as good at it as possible. Please, avoid taking things personally as if you (the player) are under attack. Insulting your character, which may be frequent, especially if you are roleplaying a noble of the lesser ranks, does not mean that anyone intends to insult you (the player). OOC insults must be reported to either the titans or the council of your realm as there is zero tolerance for such a despicable behaviour.

  • Respect roleplaying.

For instance, do not physically harm any character during a roleplay, unless if you have the respective player's permission or you know his roleplaying style permits that. Physically attacking a character without his player consent is always considered poor roleplay. If you wish to do so, rhere are game options, such as duels and infiltrators' actions, that grant you that opportunity.

  • Please, no OOC communication.

In Dwilight, especially Melodia, out of character (OOC) communication is restricted to only the most necessary. If you wish to make friendships, make an OOC joke or anything else than roleplaying, then do so through the IRC or through another realm of BM. In Melodia, the preservation of a medieval atmosphere is our main concern and OOC contact is spoiling the fun. It may be unfortunate, but constant OOC communication might result to banishment.
Consider the OOC tag as a mean to be used only when it is absolutely necessary and unavoidable. Even going inactive for a long period can be roleplayed as your character going ill.

  • Yes to fun, No to powergaming.

In Melodia, it is nobody's OOC intention to gain power, we are all here to have fun through RP. Take no advantage of bugs and wait for a RP opporunity for your character to climb to the higher ranks. Our characters are not OOC driven, but RP driven. If you RP an ambitious noble that is most acceptable, but taking advantage of another player's inability to react will most probably get your character dead.

Now that you have read this guideline and you have comprehended how serious we are with proper roleplay, think again if Melodia is the realm you wish to roleplay. If it is, you are more than welcome to join us and have fun, but you proceed at your own risk as poor RP will be frowned. If you do not like our way, then you should better seek for another realm to play in. :)
