Birth of a Nation

Massillion is a small realm that was created by secession from Eston by Kahoolie during Eston's long and futile battle against the vikings of the north. In all, four regions seceded from Eston's rule, including Massillion (City), Tintar (Woodland), Agnilar (Woodland), and Malor (Woodland), creating a democracy in which ideas, knowledge, and culture could flourish instead of being suppressed by a monarchy such as Eston. Massillion lands are currently under siege by troops from Eston. The battle of Massillion is a battle for the right of the weak to stand as an equal in front of the strong. The right of the poor to hope, fight for their beliefs, and stand up for their choices.

Invasion

After losing badly in the war to the vikings, which would have happened even without the secession of Massillion lands, King Andrew of Eston entered into a peace with the Barony of Makar and Norland. Eston and its more powerful allies launched successful takeovers in Agnilar and Malor in the early stages of their war against Massillion. The combined invading army then set its sights on Massillion. In a large, but short battle, the grossly outnumbered and overmatched defenders of Massillion were defeated by the combined enemy horde. After the fall of Massillion, the viking warriors withdrew from Massillion and King Andrew ordered his forces to start a brutal takeover of Massillion. The brutal takeover failed, so King Andrew ordered his men to loot and pillage Massillion, which led to a large peasant uprising. Several small skirmishes are still occurring despite Eston's large force occupying Massillion, pillaging the land and killing innocent peasants. Despite Eston's brutality, a small number of nobles still fight for their independence and try to negotiate a peaceful end to the violent conflict, although to date King Andrew has rebuffed these offers and continues to be obsessed with the reclamation of Massillion lands, even as larger events and battles take place on Atamara. The new government of Massillion wants nothing more than to live in peace with Eston and to flourish as an independent nation. For the third time, the people of Massillion have not caved to a brutal takeover by Eston's army, although a fourth takeover was just started.
