In the ancient days, long lost to all memory, Calamar roamed the deep waters of the world, striking out and destroying the ships of men in vile spite. The people called out to their god Magnus for his aide, and as the mighty and powerful Great Serpaent crashed through the waves they cheered with joy.

As the great lord of the oceans battled with his nemesis powerful mountain ranges began to spring up through their combat. The high reaches of the Eaglin mountains were formed, and in time, the peaks of Moramroth soon towered over a roiling torrent of water. Magnus had out-manouvered his enemy, and trapped the corpreal body of Calamar in a land locked sea. Drawing in to himself, the salt of the sea he purified its waters such that Calamar could never escape, and of the peoples who ringed the newly formed sea sized lake he chose among them the strongest, most noble to build a series of fortress cities to keep watch over the great evil which lurked beneath its waves. In time, these peoples called themselves Falasan, and their banners shone forth proclaiming their noble heritage as the defenders against Calamar. Their crown of authority encircling the prodigeous evil of Calamar, the four grey jewels standing for the for Barad fortresses. In time, all memory of Magnus was lost to his mighty army of loyal soldiers. But recent events have shattered the ring which held the evil, and now it roams freely upon the lands.
