They are all in the bottommost levels and most secure parts of the fortresses as the fortresses themselves were built around the seals. Each seal is roughly the size of three men abreast and one man and half again high and heavily inlaid with copper.

The Barad Riel seal was said to be the Northern Guard and to be represented by Brusus, his likeness etched into the plate on the seal, and of all the seals was at one point the strongest of all of them through Brusus's strength and spirit.

The seal at Barad Lacirith is the Western Guard. Vulpes is said to be the patron of the Western seal, and unsurprisingly, the least is known about this seal. There is no record of any inscription or carvings, though it is assumed that the seal itself at least conforms with the basic descriptions of the other three seals.

The Eastern Guard is housed at Barad Gardor and has Corvus as its protector. A magnificent carving of Corvus in flight surrounded by the souls of the faithful stands proudly and untarnished on this seal that is watched at all times by priests and monks in vigil.
