Balen Addonwy had become discouraged in his search for a fabled magic item. A wealthy merchant placed a price on its discovery, and Blaen was in desperate need of gold. His gambling debts had become staggering, and the reputation of his family was no longer sufficient to satisfy the temper of the men he owed. Blaen thought this task would be simple enough; he was a skilled adventurer with a keen blade. After months of searching, he was almost through. Poor hunting in the badlands of Lundel left him famished, and the dank water was giving him dysentery. But then Blaen crossed paths with a traveler, a fledging adventurer full of enthusiasm. Ovidius shared a flagon of wine, and informed Blaen of a pack of monsters roaming the South. Summoning the last of his strength, and resisting the urge to purge himself of burnt dust rabbit, Blaen encountered the beasts.

After a brilliant, yet somewhat blurry remembered battle, Blaen found himself stumbling amongst the corpses of many a monster. He searched for his bastard sword, and found the blade buried in the chest of a large and burly monster. Surely, this one was almost mature enough to consume many an unfortunate peasant. A glittering ring shone from the fiends finger, and Blaen torqued and ripped the band from the over sized knuckle. The Legendary Ring of Leadership!

Blaen slept for three days in the region of Bastad to regain his strength and discovered that the merchant would not pay for the item, as he was looking for a sword, not a ring. During Blaen's recuperation, a local knight of Bastad, Micheal Gideon, potentially working for the dice master, "Big" Christopher, brutally assaulted and wounded Blaen and the fellow adventurer Malone. Blaen managed to hide the ring by swallowing it during the mugging.

And that, Sir, is the story of this ring. It has been washed.
