Alexander Greybrook

The Sale of The Emerald-Studded Mace of Oligarch

Roleplay from Oiren
Oiren's nerves were high. He had gone out and bought a fresh outfit and even then he was concerned it was no where near enough to be able to meet a lord. He patted down a crease that had began to form on his dress shirt and looked over the item once again. He was being careful as to ensure that the item was not seen by others who may take it. He would not let the Lord down.

He brushed his hand through his hair and took a deep breath. Trying to act confidant, he entered into the grounds of the tournament. Just the day before he had been here to watch the events. He had saved up enough to by Lily and himself a ticket. The both of them had been very excited for the proceedings. This day was different. Most of the events had settled down and some stalls were begining to be packed away. None the less, Oiren attempted to step confidently through the grounds. Finally he had made it towards the section of the nobles, guards lined every entrance with rigorous inspections at every point. He approached the first entrance he found and made he way to one of the guard.

"Adventurer Oiren. At the request of the Honourable Lord Alexander Greybrook, I have brought the items that he had requested.."

His voice croaked slightly at the end of the sentence causing the guards to chuckle slightly before the captain sent off one of them to find the Lord. Oiren stood there nervously, sweat began to form on his forehead and he was starting to shake. A few minutes went by before the guard finally returned back. Oiren was ushered further in, he pack rigorously inspected and everything taken out before he was finally granted access. He was kept under strict watch as he passed by many of the tents of other nobles before finally they came to a large tent with more guards stationed outside. Before he was allowed entrance, there were further inspections. However, it was not long before he was admitted into the tent. Sitting on a resplendent dark oak chair within the tent was the opulent man himself. Oiren immediately fell to his knees and bowed before Alexander.

One of the attendants nearby stepped forward at Alexander's behest. "Present what you have brought for his eminence."

"Honourable Governor Alexander Greybrook, I have come with the item that you requested along with the shield of which you have charged me with repairing." He held out his hands, a long object wrapped in cloth was presented before Alexander. Without lifting his head, he continued to speak, "This is the Emerald Studded Mace of Oligarch, a wondrous item."

Alexander nodded, one of the servants nearby stepped towards Oiren and took the wrapped cloth and brought it to Alexander. He carefully unwrapped it, ensuring that no damage was done. The emeralds began to glimmer in the candle light of the tent. There was a hushed silence as the attendants and guards in the tent looked on in awe at the item. Oiren waited a little while before he continued to speak.

"As with your additional request, I have brought your shield so that you may look over the progress and ensure that the correct work is being undertaken." Once again, he reached into his pack and carefully held the shield wrapped in cloth towards Alexander. The steward once again stepped forward and followed the same procedure.

Oiren held his head down and waited to see how Alexander would respond.

Alexander looked at the adventurer in front of him. It is obvious he had made the effort today. The jewels of the weapon could easily be renovated to a higher quality. The same goes for the prestigious shield. Nodding to one of the servants nearby, the shield was returned to the commoner whilst the weapon was wrapped away and taken elsewhere. Once this ceremony was completed, one of the more senior looking attendants took a bag out of his cloak and chucked it over to the commoner. Upon impact, the velvet bag which possessed the Blue Dragon of House Greybrook upon, spilled open with tens of gold coins either on show or spilt.

"Commoner Oiren. You do me great service in your duty. I hope this payment is your just reward. May you continue your loyalty to house Greybrook and myself and you shall continue to be rewarded. Your priority remains my other items. However, inform me directly of any other items or scrolls you come across before the Adventurer Guild. You shall be paid well."

Almost on impulse, the guards stood to attention, ready to take the man out. However with a gesture by Alexander, they stopped. Keen on the response of the commoner, Alexander waited.

Oiren out of respect kept his head bowed. He could feel the pressure as people looked on at him. His pulse began to race and sweat began to form on his forehead.

"Honourable Lord Alexander Greybrook, I thank you greatly for your generosity. As you have said, I shall come to you first if I come upon any items. You have my word,"

He waited for a moment before picking up the sack and placing the coins that had spilled within it. He admired the crest as he did so. Carefully, he stood up and bowed once again towards the man. He had began to shake once again but he continued to hold strong.

"I promise on threat of my life that your wondrous shield shall be kept safe and will be repaired completely. To be able to serve you M'lord is a great honour, one that I shall cherish for the rest of my life."

At this point, the guards began to move and escort the commoner out. Like most, he was not shown any dignity in this regard however he understood his place. He hurriedly grabbed his bag and carefully placed the sack of gold within a hidden compartment and followed the guards out.

Once he was out of the grounds, he felt as if a great weight had been lifted off his shoulders. He let out a deep sigh. He could hear the laughing of the guards behind him as he left. Oiren was not as stout as he once was, he travels had meant that he was starting to slim, however they still mocked him. He continued down the street and out of the grounds completely, to return back to the tavern nearby where Lily was staying. All the while he was mumbling to himself.

"Maybe I should get some cake on the way back, it is time to celebrate afterall."
