"In life, he ruled Sandalak for the Winged Gods. In death, he ruled Sandalak among the Winged Gods."

"In life, he was closer to the land than any man. In death, he ascended higher than any man."

Tales of Kurlock

Kurlock, a seemingly unlikely candidate, rose to power as the new king of Sandalak with a shocking 80 votes in the election. He immediately set out to establish his rule by renaming the position of king, which was previously known as the "Wyvern King," to the "Wyvern Incarnate."

In a bold move, Kurlock engaged in a one-on-one duel with Cody, a rival leader, and was killed in the battle. However, to the surprise of all those present, Kurlock miraculously returned to life and walked away unscathed. This event solidified his status as a living avatar of the powerful Wyvern and Griffin.

As Wyvern Incarnate, Kurlock led Sandalak through several key battles, including the successful sieges of Ikalak City and Taselak City. Despite Ikalak joining forces with Taselak and the latter's possession of the formidable Toren Stronghold, Sandalak under Kurlock's leadership was able to hold its own. Eventually, he negotiated an uneasy alliance with Ikalak, which was later reaffirmed under the leadership of their third king, Blanche.

The alliance between Sandalak and Ikalak proved to be a formidable force, as they were able to corner Taselak after their successful siege of Toren Stronghold. In the weeks that followed, the allied forces successfully sacked Taselak City twice. However, despite this great success, the second siege resulted in Kurlock's death, leaving the future of Sandalak uncertain.

The Beginning

At the beginning of the war, Sandalak divided their five armies, sending three to the east and two to the west. Unfortunately, the three armies heading west were outnumbered and defeated by Ikalak's superior forces. In response, Kurlock, the leader of Sandalak, decided to take command of the armies himself, instead of allowing his marshals to blame each other for the defeat. He then reorganized and rallied what remaining troops he could, and launched a surprise attack on Taselak's southern forces. This resulted in two decisive victories for Sandalak, forcing Taselak to seek a non-violent solution.

With Taselak temporarily subdued, Kurlock turned his attention to the larger threat of Ikalak. As Ikalak was busy conquering the eastern side of the island, Kurlock took advantage of this opportunity to refit and reorganize his own army. However, while Sandalak was in the process of refitting, Ikalak managed to take over the city of Dwamon and began looting the nearby city of Yayhan. Kurlock quickly led his army to Dwamon, where they successfully repelled Ikalak's takeover attempt, and subsequently began a long pursuit of the fleeing Ikalakians.

Sandalak chased Ikalak's forces into Yayhan, where they were able to defeat them again, capturing a large number of Ikalakian nobles in the process. As Ikalak retreated back to their capital, Sandalak followed, ultimately capturing the city and defeating Ikalak in their own capital.

After a series of defeats, some of the Ikalakian lords converted and joined Sandalak, paving the way for an assault on the capital city of Ikalak. Kurlock, now leading the full might of the Sandalak army, swiftly captured the city in battle. High-ranking members of Ikalak, recognizing the futility of further resistance, begged for mercy. Kurlock, recognizing the strategic importance of preventing Ikalak from aligning with their rival, Taselak, granted their plea and allowed them to retain their lands and titles under Sandalak's rule. This marked the beginning of an uneasy alliance between Sandalak and Ikalak, with the latter becoming a vassal state to the former. The successful siege and capture of Ikalak city marked a significant moment in Kurlock's reign, solidifying Sandalak's position as a dominant power in the region.

Recollection (OoC)

This island was pretty close. Sandalak started with multiple losses since Sandalak created 5 armies which ended up making marshals not cooperate. There was one marshal who kept suggesting bad plans who eventually got frustrated and joined Ikalak. After losing two battles to Ikalak, Sandalak's mobile CS got cut in half. After grabbing what few men that were available in Sandalak, Sandalak fought Taselak who wanted to take Toren by taking Cave of Guilt. That was a crucial battle. After winning 2 battles there, Taselak quickly decided to ally with Sandalak to fight Ikalak. Taselak ended up not fighting Ikalak since Sandalak beat Ikalak all the way to their capital over few days. That was one hell of a campaign. Captured so many Ikalakian nobles from chasing after their destroyed armies.

By the time Sandalak pulled out of Ikalak city, Taselak had taken Toren and Bieth. That's when Taselak started to emerge as the strongest realm since they were the only ones with cavalry units. Took awhile for both Ikalak and Sandalak to be able to slowly push them back. Ikalak at this point lost a lot of their nobles since due to some OoC fights they had, people quit. Fighting Taselak head on was very difficult since Sandalak had no way of dealing with Taselak's 400 cavalries. Until Sandalak started to field double of Taselak's archers, Sandalak lost more battles. Not that badly but enough to force Sandalak to refit. Once Sandalak's archers started to accumulate, Sandalak and Taselak started to fight back and forth around Moeth-Cirannor-Falens-Cave of Guilt. Ikalak during that time gained most of the northern regions as Taselak was too busy fighting Sandalak. Taselak realizing this, they started to focus Ikalak instead. Hans was sending letters after letters asking us to help him. Instead Sandalak attacked and took as many southern regions as possible. Controlling Cirannor-Moeth-Falens provided Sandalak with enough income to build a nice cavalry RC which helped them greatly against Taselak. I think if Kurlock didn't try crazy settings, things would have been a lot easier but after trying many settings, Sandalak did manage to end up with the current most popular Rear Inf and Mid Arc so I guess all the experiments were worth it in the end. Also, it did help Sandalak bring Taselak city down for the first time.

So at the end, Sandalak started out the weakest, then became the strongest for a brief moment before Taselak became the most dominant realm. Taselak was the strongest until they got 2v1ed to death.

As the sun set and darkness covered the sky, a midget appeared in the southern gate of Adrelhia with a small group of armed soldiers. Riding a miniature horse, Kurlock the Midget finally set his foot on the sunken island. He could see peasants working hard to rebuild structures left behind by the former residences of the area. Roads were already constructed around the village, connecting the village to other parts of the island. Of course the road was still in poor condition compare to his homeland but it was good enough to lead people to various places.

While waiting for his step daughter, Kurlock decided to stay in the village for a bit longer. He took one of the empty estates in the village located on the only hill around the area and ordered his men to rest. While his men were busy cleaning and unpacking in the newly acquired estate, Kurlock looked over the village from his estate and started to contemplate on his new home.

As the sun set and the sky turned dark, Kurlock and a small group of armed soldiers made their way through the southern gate of Adrelhia. Riding a small horse, Kurlock, a diminutive figure, finally set foot on the island. As he looked around, he could see the hardworking peasants rebuilding the structures left behind by the island's former inhabitants. Though the roads were in poor condition compared to those in his homeland, they were passable and connected the village to other parts of the island.

While waiting for his step-daughter to arrive, Kurlock decided to stay in the village for a bit longer. He took up residence in one of the empty estates on the village's only hill and ordered his men to rest. As his men cleaned and unpacked in the newly acquired estate, Kurlock stood on the balcony, overlooking the village and contemplating his new home.

Kurlock was polishing his toe crusher when a courier came into his room with a letter.

"Kurlock wants to know what this letter is about."

"I believe it is an update for the ruler election. They've counted about half when I left."

Kurlock opened the letter and read through the top of the letter quickly.

Kinron - 39 votes Kurlock -36 votes

When Kurlock saw the name Kinron above his name he fed the letter to his mighty beast.

About an hour after the incident, another courier came into his room with a letter.

"Is this another update for the election, little man?"

"Yes, Sir."

Kurlock read the letter and this time instead of feeding it to his beast he put it carefully under his leg chopper. Then he pulled two silver coins from his pocket and gave it to the courier. The first two lines of the letter were different from the previous letter.

Kurlock - 80 votes Kinron - 79 votes

When Kurlock picked up his toe crusher to oil it to finish the polishing, yet another courier entered his room. With a smile Kurlock welcomed the courier.

"Kurlock already knows what the letter is going to say but Me will read it nonetheless. Give it to Kurlock and take these coins."

"Two gold coins? Really Sir? This is the first time I've even seen one!"

While the courier was testing the gold coins by putting them between his teeth, Kurlock opened the letter. After reading the first two lines of the letter like he did with his previous letters, Kurlock slowly ripped the letter then fed it to his beast. Then grabbed his toe crusher with his shaking hand and looked around the room only to find the courier with two gold coins between his teeth. Before he could control his rage, Kurlock swung his toe crusher and crushed the three right toes of the courier.

The two gold coins the courier received ended up becoming his payment to see a doctor.

Kurlock was in his chambers, busily polishing his weapon, the "toe crusher," when a courier arrived with a letter.

"What is this about?" Kurlock asked, gesturing for the letter.

"An update on the ruler election, sir," the courier replied. "They've counted about half the votes when I left."

Kurlock opened the letter and scanned the results. To his dismay, he saw that his opponent, Kinron, had a lead of three votes. Furious, Kurlock crumpled the letter and fed it to his pet beast.

An hour later, another courier arrived with another letter. Kurlock took it, and again, the results showed Kinron in the lead, this time by just one vote. Kurlock carefully placed the letter under his "leg chopper" and gave the courier two silver coins as a reward.

But Kurlock's fortunes soon turned. A third letter arrived, and this time, Kurlock was in the lead by one vote. Overjoyed, Kurlock tore the letter in excitement and fed it to his beast. He picked up his "toe crusher" and looked around the room, only to see the courier still admiring the two gold coins Kurlock had given him as a reward. In a fit of anger, Kurlock swung his weapon and crushed the courier's toes. The coins, it seemed, would be the courier's payment for medical treatment.

As Kurlock entered the city of Sandalak to attend the coronation of Kinron the First Wyvern King of the Sandalak Empire and to duel Cody as he promised, a courier approached Kurlock.

When he was about to pull his toe crusher to hammer the courier's toes like he did in his estate, the courier bowed before him. While Kurlock was debating if he should smash the courier's head instead of his toes, the courier began to hail Kurlock.

"All hail King Kurlock!"

"King Kurlock? Kurlock thinks this little man can't read. Kinron is the king, not Kurlock."

"No, your majesty. We recounted our votes and found 4 missing votes! You beat Duke Kinron by 2 votes!"

"Kurlock is the real king? Kurlock knew something was wrong! Tell little Cody he will get his duel in the evening. Kurlock has to sit on the throne first!"

As Kurlock was about to kick his beast to ride toward the palace, the courier stopped Kurlock.

"Your majesty! I've heard you are a generous man! May I benefit from your legendary generosity like my friends who went to deliver messages to you?"

"Little courier is a smart man. Kurlock is indeed generous. Me will offer the little man some choices. The little man's first friend didn't get anything because he brought bad news to Kurlock. The second friend got 2 silver coins from Kurlock for bring good news. Now, does the little man want to be rewarded like the second friend or the third friend?"

"Uh- you didn't tell me about the third friend. What did he get?"

"He got 2 gold coins and Kurlock's toe crusher."

"Toe crusher? I don't quite understand what you mean-"

"Choose before Kurlock leaves!"

"I will go with the third-"

Kurlock quickly got off his mount and tossed two gold coins high in the air. The courier looked upward to see where his coins were and missed Kurlock pulling his toe crusher out from his beast. Before he knew it, Kurlock's toe crusher struck its target with full force.

As Kurlock entered the city of Sandalak to attend the coronation of Kinron, the newly appointed First Wyvern King of the Sandalak Empire, he was approached by a courier. Kurlock, known for his fierce temper and love of violence, was ready to strike the courier with his trademark weapon, the "toe crusher," but the courier quickly bowed before him and proclaimed:

"All hail King Kurlock!"

Kurlock was taken aback by the courier's words. He sneered, "King Kurlock? Kurlock thinks this little man can't read. Kinron is the king, not Kurlock."

The courier quickly explained that there had been a mistake in the initial vote count and that Kurlock had in fact won the election by two votes. Kurlock, pleased with this turn of events, let out a deep laugh and proclaimed, "Kurlock is the real king? Kurlock knew something was wrong! Tell little Cody he will get his duel in the evening. Kurlock has to sit on the throne first!"

As Kurlock was about to ride off to the palace, the courier stopped him and begged for a reward for his role in delivering the good news. Kurlock, known for his generous nature, offered the courier a choice of rewards. The first messenger had received nothing, the second had received two silver coins, and the third had received two gold coins and Kurlock's toe crusher. The courier, unsure of what Kurlock meant by "toe crusher," chose the two gold coins. Kurlock, pleased with the courier's choice, tossed the coins high in the air, causing the courier to look up and miss the moment when Kurlock struck him with his toe crusher.

As Kurlock arrived in the biggest square of Sandalak, he saw his opponent Cody waiting for him in the center. Kurlock's mount, now known as 'the beast', scratched the ground with its hoofs as Kurlock pulled his toe crusher to duel Cody. Only a single weapon was allowed for this death duel and the duel was to be continued until one of them fell.

As the mediator explained the rules, Kurlock spit shined his toe crusher, making it more shiner and deadlier with every spit.

Kurlock stared into Cody's eyes until the mediator stopped talking, signaling the start of the duel. Kurlock and Cody exchanged blows and swings until an opportunity arose for Kurlock to land his toe crusher to crush all of Cody's right toes.

"Kurlock wins little Cody! Time to say good bye to your toes!"

Little did Kurlock knew the major flaw with his attack. There was a simple solution to his world ending move and it was executed perfectly by Cody.

A simple yet elegant maneuver called 'jump' made Kurlock's attack obsolete, leaving him open to a fatal attack which Cody delivered swiftly.

With a single attack, Cody punctured a hole into Kurlock's skull, ending his life quickly. Healers rushed to Kurlock but they knew no mortal could survive such a serious injury.

They shook their heads then told the mediator Kurlock was no more.

An hour later, soldiers carried Kurlock's dead body to have it cremated on the very place where Cody defeated Kurlock. They placed Kurlock's body on top of an wooden alter and placed a hundred torches. Soon the fire started to engulf the alter and people watched as Kurlock's body become a blurry figure in the center of the fire. Then a miracle happened. They heard a scream of agony and pain from the alter. Before they knew it, Kurlock jumped out of the burning alter and began to roll on the ground. Soldiers quickly brought buckets of water to put fire engulfing Kurlock's body out.

Kurlock despite having burnt hairs and not wearing anything, stood up and shouted his name out loud to show everyone he was alive once again.

As Kurlock arrived at the grand square of Sandalak, he saw his opponent Cody waiting for him in the center. Kurlock's mount, now known as 'the beast', snorted and pawed at the ground, sensing the tension in the air. Kurlock pulled his toe crusher from its sheath, the weapon glinting in the sunlight as he prepared for the death duel.

The mediator stepped forward, outlining the rules of the duel. Only one weapon was permitted, and the fight would continue until one of the warriors fell. Kurlock spit-shined his toe crusher, making it more deadly with each pass of his cloth.

As the mediator finished speaking, Kurlock locked eyes with Cody. The mediator stepped back, signaling the start of the duel.

The two warriors clashed, steel ringing against steel as they exchanged blows. Kurlock swung his toe crusher with deadly precision, but Cody was quick and agile, dodging each strike.

Just as Kurlock thought he had the upper hand, Cody executed a swift and unexpected maneuver - a jump - which left Kurlock open to a fatal attack. Cody took advantage of the opportunity and delivered a swift, deadly blow to Kurlock's skull.

Healers rushed to Kurlock's side, but they knew that no mortal could survive such a serious injury. They shook their heads and told the mediator that Kurlock had passed.

As Kurlock's lifeless body was carried away, the people of Sandalak watched in sorrow, unsure of what fate would befall their once-great leader. But as the soldiers prepared to cremate Kurlock's body, a strange and unexpected event occurred. Just as the flames began to engulf the pyre, a powerful gust of wind blew out the torches, extinguishing the fire. And as the smoke cleared, Kurlock emerged from the ashes, unharmed and alive once again.

The people were shocked and amazed, and many believed that the gods of Sandalak - Wyvern and Griffin - had intervened to spare Kurlock's life. Some even whispered that Kurlock had been chosen by the gods to lead their people once more, and his revival was a sign of their favor.

Kurlock himself was not sure how to explain his miraculous survival, but he knew deep down that he had been given a second chance by the gods. And he vowed to use this new lease on life to lead his people to greatness, with the guidance and support of the gods.

As Kurlock stood before the people, he felt a newfound sense of purpose and determination. He knew that his destiny was tied to the fate of Sandalak, and he would do whatever it takes to ensure the prosperity of his people. And with the gods on his side, he knew that nothing could stand in his way.

The people of Sandalak watched in awe as Kurlock rode off into the horizon, their new king, a powerful and feared ruler who had risen from the ashes of his own death.

As Kurlock finished reading the last letter that came to his desk, a courier entered Kurlock's chamber with a small bag.

"Kurlock believes today is the tax day? Kurlock can't wait to see the bag."

"Your holiness. There has been a problem with the tax collection. The bag-"

"Fifty gold? What? Is the little man trying to pull a funny joke?"

"No, your holiness! I am only a lowly servant! I brought you a message from-"

As the courier got on his knees, Kurlock got off his chair and walked toward the eastern corner of his room where his weapons and armor were kept. Ever since Kurlock became the chosen of the Wyvern and the Griffin, many nobles sent Kurlock different weapons to buy his favor but Kurlock's eyes were only fixated on one weapon, the toe crusher. Despite showing some flaws against more agile opponents, the toe crusher hasn't lost Kurlock's trust. As Kurlock put his weapon hand on the toe crusher, the courier found something from his bag and quickly turned to face Kurlock.

"Your holiness, administrators couldn't collect taxes this week! There is no gold to collect tax from in Sandalak!"

"No gold? Why is that?"

"Some administrators claim that peasants aren't ready to pay their taxes yet because peasants themselves have arrived on this island not too long ago and crops haven't had time to fully grow yet."

"Hmm. That is understandable. Me will spare the peasants this time. Kurlock knows no crop means no gold."

With a bit of disappointment, Kurlock put his toe crusher away.

Kurlock heard of his daughter's defeat and not so long after the news, his daughter's body was delivered to him.

Her skull was split in half and it was hard to distinguish who she was by looking at her face but from her height, Kurlock could tell it was Mekurlok.

"Kurlock wants her body to be preserved well. Once Kurlock's armies take Cave of Guilt, Kurlock wants her body to be placed in one of the caves. Kurlock heard the Wyvern and his children live in the caves. Kurlock wants her body to join them. Also, Kurlock wants her name to be carved on the walls of the hall of the fallen."

As his servants took Mekurlock's small body away, a courier came to deliver Kurlock a message.

"Your holiness. The referendum result is in. Loremistress Elissa has failed to garner enough support to win the vote of confidence."

"Elissa is out? So Kurlock needs to appoint a new Loremaster? More work for Kurlock it seems."

A messenger entered Kurlock's tent to deliver the evening order of the army.

"Good Enzeru sent the order out? Oh people are fighting by Kurlock. Good. But what is this? Line? Enzeru wants Kurlock to stand in a line? No! Kurlock shall cleave through the infidels! Me will charge ahead of all his followers! Wedge it is! Tell Kurlock's men they will charge behind Kurlock! Me will show how a wyvern fights!"

As Kurlock was shouting, a courier brought him a long container.

"Finally! Kurlock's new weapon! Open the container for Kurlock."

"Uh me, your holiness? But I am a messe-"

"Does Kurlock care who you are? Kurlock order and you listen!"

"O- Of course!"

The messenger quickly took the container from the courier and opened it before Kurlock. It was a spear as tall as Kurlock himself.

"Me will call this weapon 'Belly Piercer'! No man shall defeat Kurlock by simply jumping anymore!"

As the sun began to set, two armies prepared to clash with one another. Kurlock watched as Lord Griffin and marshals busily riding around shouting at people to get them in line. Archers lined up ahead of the infantry while cavalries moved behind the infantry. Kurlock looked around to check for familiar faces and saw Cody preparing himself for a charge attack with another horseman.

What a brave man he was, that Cody.

As men finally lined up according to the archer opening formation, Kurlock's captain Edgar, who was slightly shorter than Kurlock, stood beside Kurlock with a banner of Sandalak. As the Wyvern and the Griffin danced with the winds, Lord Griffin gave the signal. With that marshals sounded the horns and the battle began.

After the first volley of arrows were unleashed, Kurlock advanced with Kristyn's unit and Bredon's unit to the front where Aeronin's men were preparing to shoot again. When Aeronin's men were behind Kurlock, he drew his toe crushed and held it in his right hand. Edgar quickly handed Kurlock his new weapon, the belly piercer which has failed him once before. Kurlock prayed to the Wyvern that his belly piercer would perform better than before.

The first enemy Kurlock ran into was a noble called David. Kurlock immediately swung his toe crusher to crush the man's skull but his men guarded their noble well. One of them even managed to kill one of Kurlock's men. Kurlock gently repaid the debt with his shining toe crusher which pushed the man's helmet deep into his skull. Other Sandals quickly destroyed David's unit with Kurlock before facing another unit

The second enemy Kurlock met was Langly who was leading a unit about half the size of David's. Kurlock's men struck them hard and forced him to retreat.

When Kurlock's men chased Langly down, they met two other units. Gizwald who had as big of a unit as David and Scein who was leading a cavalry unit as big as Kurlock's infantry unit. Before Kurlock could order his men to pull back, Scein's Warband hit Kurlock's men with a charge attack which killed five of Kurlock's men before Kurlock could even react. Kurlock managed to stab one of the horsemen with his belly piercer but that was about it. Kurlock did however managed to kill two men against Gizwald's men when Gizwald's Kane Guards attacked what was left of Kurlock's unit. Luckily for Kurlock, other Sandals came to join Kurlock to repel Gizwald and they did manage to for the man to run.

  • Lapallanch Guards (19) score 71 hits on Warband (79).
  • Lapallanch Guards (19) take 189 hits in close combat, which cause 4 casualties, making the unit retreat from the battlefield.

Unfortunately, persistent Scein did not let go of Kurlock. Kurlock could tell Scein wanted to gain fame and glory by slaying Kurlock but little did the poor infidel knew Kurlock was an immortal. Sadly, Kurlock's men weren't blessed by the Wyvern enough to be granted such blessing and more of them fell when Kurlock's unit got hit by another charge attack. This time it hit pretty hard, causing at least half of Kurlock's remaining unit to die. Kurlock wanted to chase the infidel but Edgar quickly stopped Kurlock to retreat. Before one of the infidels started to chase, another volley of arrows flew just over Kurlock's head to force them to let Kurlock's unit go.

A courier visited Kurlock while he was telling a blacksmith to make another toe crusher for Kurlock on his bed. His toe crusher was bent after smashing too many skulls and while Kurlock was too busy checking his toe crusher, an arrow got his right buttock. Kurlock was on the bed with his buttocks pointing up. Luckily, his wound wasn't severe and his healer told him to try not to move for awhile.

The courier immediately bowed his head before Kurlock after witnessing Kurlock's divine buttocks.

"Your holiness, Sir Vylmyre has just defected to Ikalak."

"Vylmyre defected to where? Kurlock is puzzled? Why would Vylmyre abandon the Wyvern and the Griffin to join the dog riders? Was it Vylmyre's dream to ride a dog? Why didn't Vylmyre tell Kurlock of this? Kurlock would have gotten some puppies for Vylmyre!"

Captain Edgar, who was standing outside of the room, answered Kurlock.

"Uh your holiness, I doubt that is what Sir Vylmyre wanted. I think he was angry for losing his estate and felt he was mistreated."

"If that was all it took for Vylmyre to abandon the Wyvern and the Griffin, then Kurlock thinks Vylmyre was never fit to serve them in the first place."

One of Kurlock's unfortunate scribes was writing something down on a book. The cover of the book was 'The Number of Toes'. The book contained pictures of toes and descriptions of the owners of the toes. The size of the toes in the book varied as Kurlock over-exaggerated the toes he crushed and poor artists had to squeeze their heads to please Kurlock. There was no way for Kurlock to actually figure out the shape and size of his enemies' crushed toes but Kurlock insisted on having them in his book.

The poor scribe was called early in the morning right after the battle to write things down on the book as Kurlock was too happy to crush three toes in the past 24 hours. One of the artists from the capital was also forced to accompany Kurlock all the way to Aboal along with the scribe to work on the book.

As Kurlock began describing the toe of poor Orobos Dishman, a messenger visited Kurlock to relieve the scribe.

"Your holiness, Lady Misty has captured Hugue Coquard!"

"Good Misty must have felt the blessing of the Griffin! Kurlock can now finally see the real toes of a dog rider! Kurlock didn't have any time to visit Good Peter's dungeons to see their toes but Me will definitely not miss this chance! To Good Misty's camp!"

As the sun rose, just under a thousand Sandals arrived in the richest, yet wall-less, city on the continent, Ikalak.

Marshals quickly ordered archers to the front and several banner carriers stepped forward to check the wind. Before the charge, archers released their arrows into the ranks of Ikalak and Ikalak did the same to the ranks of Sandalak.

After the initial exchange of the arrows, Kurlock charged with his men to fight the first wave of Ikal soldiers. Some Ikal cavalries somehow pierced Sandalak's front and reached Kurlock but all the soldiers around him quickly crushed them all before colliding with the body of Ikal armies.

Over the dead bodies of friends and foes, Kurlock and his men marched, crushing one toe at a time, swinging his toe crusher left and right. Before Kurlock knew it, he was crushing the last toes of Ikals.

"Edgar, what happened to Ikals? Kurlock doesn't see them anymore!"

"Your holiness, we won. There is no more Ikal left standing."

"But Kurlock didn't even see any noble Ikal today."

"We fell behind due to that cavalry charge which almost hit you, your holiness."

"Well if there isn't any toe left to crush, Kurlock wants to see if Ikalak has any woman of Kurlock's size. Sandalak only has women too tall for Kurlock."

Kurlock, after failing to find a woman of his size during his brief stay in the city of Ikalak, was patrolling the streets of Aboal with his men. His men had taught some unforgettable lessons to the populace of Aboal, putting infidels back in place while embracing new converts. His men were sent out to find someone to please Kurlock by Edgar but every time they found someone of Kurlock size they were all rejected for either being too young or being too old. One of the soldiers was whipped for bringing someone too young.

Some soldiers prayed to the Wyvern and the Griffin to grant Kurlock a wife but even the mighty Wyvern and the Griffin didn't answer to a such petty wish.

While he was waiting for his men to prepare themselves for another campaign, Kurlock ordered his couriers to bring his sacks containing treasures gathered by his faithful followers.

His treasure sacks were brought into his chamber within an hour, and the moment they arrived, the room was filled with strange smell. When Kurlock opened the sacks, the smell got worse.

"Good Diel. Count Kurlock's treasures. Kurlock wants to know how many treasures Kurlock's followers have gathered."

As Kurlock ordered his captain, he spilled the contents of the sacks. And when they were revealed, some weak minded servants fainted while others frowned. What they saw was a pile of toes, severed and salted, sent to Kurlock by his nobles.

"Your holiness, I..."

"No I. Kurlock wants Diel to count them now."

"But they are..."

"Yes. They are toes. Count them now. No more talking back."

Captain Diel, realizing he had no way to change Kurlock, began to slowly count the toes, one at a time.

"Two hundred and eighty eight toes, your holiness."

"That many? Kurlock is impressed. Now put them back into the sacks. Kurlock doesn't want to lose any. Also, Kurlock wants to know which infidel lost most toes. Report back to Kurlock when Good Diel has time."

With that Kurlock left the chamber. Diel, who was left behind, looked around to find servants but no one was in the room with him. With a heavy sigh, Diel began to put the toes back into the sacks.

The End

As the sun began to rise, Kurlock moved ahead of his men to see the city up close.

He has seen the city once before, but he never managed to enter the city. He hardly breached the gate the last time he was here.

He could see the marks left by his men a couple weeks back on the walls of the heart of Taselak. Some sections of the walls were still damaged while some sections were repaired, although poorly.

When the day was bright enough for him to be able to see all the Tasels on the walls, Kurlock drew his mighty Toe Smasher on his pony's back.

"Attack!"

With his order, horn blowers and archers signaled the attack. Archers from both sides started to exchange arrows between them.

"Your holiness. We need to move back. We are too ahead of everyone. We don't have enough men to breach the city yet."

"This is time for Kurlock to shine! Start putting siege engines against the walls! Kurlock will charge ahead! Tell others to follow! Kurlock shall be the first one to enter the city!"

"No, your holiness! That is too dangerous!"

"Pah! There is no Tasel strong enough to kill Kurlock in a single combat! Kurlock shall crush all their toes for the Wyvern and the Griffin before the faithfuls arrive! No more talking! Follow Kurlock!"

As Kurlock climbed the walls, Tasel archers began to focus on him. Some Tasels realized who was in the front and quickly focused their attacks on Kurlock.

Kurlock's men tried to protect him by climbing faster but there were way too many Tasels waiting for them at the top of the walls. As his men were pushed back from the walls, Kurlock was stuck on the ladder. Kurlock shouted his men to move forward but the fight on the walls were too fierece for his men to move forward. While Kurlock and his men were stuck on the ladder, Aeneas' men began to chop the ladder with their axes. Kurlock quickly pushed his men out of his way to stop Tasels from chopping the ladder but as he was about to get on the wall, a long spear appeared before him and pierced his heart, pushing him off the walls.

Kurlock fell to the ground from the walls which caused Kurlock to die momentarily. But soon Kurlock could feel the Wyvern and the Griffin giving him strength to get up once more. Kurlock could hear their whispers telling him to rise and fight once more, just like his first day as the Wyvern Incarnate.

However, unlike the last time he died, there were more than one person wishing him dead. As he got up, the gate of Taselak opened. Through the gate, all the remaining cavalries Taselak had poured out. Before Kurlock could react, another spear pierced his body. Followed by the spear, cavalries of Taselak slashed, pierced, and smashed Kurlock until he was no longer recognizable. Even the Wyvern and the Griffin could not make Kurlock rise for the third time when there was no body to raise.

When Sandals arrived at the spot where Kurlock was shredded, they found nothing but a pool of blood and his toe smasher.

As the sun crested the horizon, Kurlock led the charge towards the city, eager to see it up close. He had seen the city once before, but had never managed to enter, having barely breached the gate on his last attempt. The walls of Taselak bore the scars of his previous assault, some sections still damaged while others had been poorly repaired.

With the day fully upon them, Kurlock unsheathed his mighty weapon, Toe Smasher, and shouted the order to attack. Horns blared and archers unleashed a storm of arrows. But as Kurlock and his men approached the walls, one of his advisors called out, "Your Holiness, we need to fall back. We are too far ahead of our forces and do not have enough men to breach the city yet."

Kurlock was undeterred. "This is the time for Kurlock to shine! Set up the siege engines and prepare to charge! Kurlock will be the first one to enter the city!"

But the advisor persisted, "No, Your Holiness, that is too dangerous! We must wait for reinforcements."

Kurlock was furious. "Pah! There is no Tasel strong enough to kill Kurlock in single combat! Kurlock will crush all their toes for the Wyvern and the Griffin before the faithful arrive. No more talking! Follow Kurlock!"

As Kurlock climbed the walls, the Tasel archers targeted him. His men tried to protect him, but there were too many Tasels waiting for them at the top. Kurlock's men were pushed back and Kurlock himself was stranded on a ladder. The Tasels began chopping at the ladder with their axes, and Kurlock was struck by a spear through the heart, falling to the ground.

But the Wyvern and the Griffin gave Kurlock strength to rise once more. However, this time there were many who wished him dead. As Kurlock got to his feet, the gates of Taselak opened, and the remaining Tasel cavalry poured out. Kurlock was quickly surrounded and overwhelmed, his body shredded beyond recognition. Even the Wyvern and the Griffin could not save him from the final death. When the Sandals arrived, they found nothing but a pool of blood and Kurlock's Toe Smasher.
