The Seven Scrolls of Destiny

This is the second Toprakian epic written by Lord Bowie Ironsides. It is a novel narrated by the absurdly humourous Old Master.

The Tales

“Young noble, I see the look in your face as I sit next to you. You think I am an old lingering fart who is about to talk your ear off with long boring tales of old and you worry that I shall explain to you how “things were better back then.” Well…you are right. Sit still and shut up, for I, the Old Master, to whom you lovingly nickname Lingering Fart, will recount the glorious High Toprakian epics contained in the Seven Scrolls. Listen and remember, for this is the tradition and culture to which you inherit; whether you believe in it or not. These are forgotten histories. It was my task to collect and recite them for I am the Head of the Toprakian Culture League, yes yes! This is a duty I shall not falter from. You must hear these stories as I did and pass them on to others.

Now I shall recite to you the first scroll. In ancient days, High Toprak was the domain of many native Dwili peoples. Central to these stories are the Nifelians, the Dalians and the Dongese. These people lived in several small realms across the vast lands and lived the many dramas of their lives…...”

“What did you think of that one? Not a bad story, eh? And you say these scrolls are dusty and forgettable. Just wait, the next scroll will be even better than the first one.”

“Take your finger out of your nose you crossed-eyed fool! Was I so blank when I was your age? Mercy on me. Hear the last scroll before I hit you. It's the shortest one of them all.”

“There you have it my young friend, the Scrolls of Destiny. What’s that? What about the other four? I can’t remember there ever being another four. Of course they are called the Seven Scrolls, but, then, that’s just alliteration. I can’t call them the Three Toads of Destiny, or the Three Teachings of Destiny. Oo, wait that sounds fairly good. Nice touch. You will make an excellent Head of Culture some day.”
