The Way of the Spirits

History

Kao, The Great Beginning

The world was created by the Kao, the great divide between the earth and sky. From the Kao came the first ones, the Spirit Lords, named the Kii. With the sky, the Kii created the Nasagas, the lesser spirits. From the earth and water, the Kii created the Syerthal, or creatures of land and sea, including the humans.

The Way of Kii

Through the paths of the Orders, and deep meditation upon the nature of the world we can speak with the Spirits. Strength and Courage are the only way of victory in battle. Wisdom is the only way of victory in life. All Orders value these three ideals above all else. All orders dedicate themselves to the pursuit of knowledge. Spiritual knowledge, or enlightenment, is the most prized knowledge and is considered the path to true wisdom. The Kii value forgiveness as a virtue of all warriors. Forgiveness gives those who have not seen the light a chance to redeem their poor decisions and start a new and spiritually fulfilling life

Heirarchy of the Orders

The spirits are divided into three Orders. The Order of Valour (the Ascended), the Order of the Non-Aligned (the Justices), and the Order of Blood (the Tainted). There are lesser orders, but they all follow one of the three greater orders.

All Orders and members of the Orders are well respected, for they are worthy opponents in battle. There is no shame dying by the blade of one of the Order.

The Divined are the archpriests, one for each Order.

The Devoted are the priests and soldiers who fight in the name of their order.

The Faithful are those who follow the way of the Kii.

Lesser Spirits- Advisors and aides to the council of eight

Cirnath- Honour, Strength, Persistence

Saliay- Knowledge, Judgement

Thar- Anger, Lust

Randat- Balance, Equillibrium

The Forbidden

Kii that are not worthy of life.

Saat - Impurity, Weakness

Radiel - Deception, Lies, Cowardice

Other Religions

Other gods are just Kii who claim to be more than they truly are. Some are The Forbidden, who have committed unforgiveable transgressions, and are forbidden from ever returning to the Kii. Others believe that they can find more power for themselves through a different path. All have been banned from the Kii, because of their belief that they are a higher being than the Syerthal or Nasagas, but that does not mean that they are forbidden from returning.
