And a New Lord

With the appointment of our own Lady Valdid as Duchess of Semall, a new lord was needed for my home region of Priotness. To replace her (a hard task indeed), King Lucian chose a noble by the name of Theo. Upon his appointment, he gave a short but nevertheless somewhat inspiring speech, copied as follows:

Inspiring speechees aren't my speciality, however I would like to thank you all, not just the authority, to celebrate my recent appointment. This is my first time as a Lord, although I had to turn down a position I was offered before, and of all realms I am glad it was Itorunt. Never I have seen a realm so united, be it in war or peace, in over a year that I've been here and from everything I've heard from places far away. In the hope that this never changes, I shall, and whoever wants to join me, have a toast for Itorunt!

I personally wish him the best of luck, along with the rest of our small staff, and I trust him to take good care of my family and the estate.

A Talk with the High Marshal

I recently sat down with our High Marshal, Alois Hynes, to discuss the creation of a new military guild in Itorunt. A transcript of the interview follows:

First and foremost High Marshal Alois I'd like to thank you for taking the time out of your hectic schedule to sit down for an interview with the Itorunt Informer.

For the Royal Itorunt Military Academy (RIMA), will any noble be allowed to join, or will there be a set of tests they must pass to be accepted into the guild as a full member after they've joined?

Anyone may join. The whole point of starting the Academy was to separate the leaders from the armchair generals, and to give Itorunt a pool of experienced candidates to draw from if we needed a new Marshal, instead of having the same handful given leadership over and over again.

I've found it funny how many people are interested in the Marshal position only for a title.

Will nobles from other realms be allowed to join, or will the guild be restricted to only those within Itorunt's borders?

No. It is open to members of Itorunt, and Members of Itorunt only.

Do you plan on ever spreading the guild to other realms? If so, do they as a whole realm have to pass certain requirements to build a guild house in their realm? Do they have to show that they have a good military and that the guild would benefit from their knowledge, or something similar?

No.

Last question, when does the guild house officially open?

Soon, I hope. Just a thousand little things to do, including finding instructors.

We look forward to bringing you other interesting interviews in the future.

A Second Duchess

With the departure of the esteemed Duke Robert, the duchy of Semall was left without a leader. After some contemplation, King Lucian decided who to appoint, and chose Lady Valdid. Her appointment makes her the second lady to currently lead a duchy. We of the Itorunt Informer are confident in her ability to lead the people of the city and the duchy of Semall to a prosperous future. We wish to convey our congratulations to her and wish her the best. We are also happy that she continues to write articles for us, even with her busy schedule.

Ibladesh Holds a Tournament

As he said he would, Quake has declared a tournament be held in the city of Ibladesh in about a week. The fee is a moderate 15 gold per participant, and the winner and runner-up in each of the two categories will receive 600 and 250 gold, respectively. Quake accompanied this announcement with a message, copied below:

Honored Lords and Ladies of the East Continent,

Today, Ibladesh announced a Tournament for several reasons. Let me explain.

The health of Lady Sorcha took her out of the office and she had to step down. In honor to her service for Ibladesh, this Tournament is called today. Seems like I'm 1000 days in Ibladesh as well today and it's quite a long time. Because of this 'birthday', if I can call it like that, and because of my appointment as Pontifex of Ibladesh we will all gather at the Tournament Grounds in Ibladesh City to Celebrate.

Drinks are on me! Make sure you have loads of fun and till we meet there.

Good luck to all candidates!

With Respect and Honor,

Quake
Pontifex and Fiduciary of Ibladesh, Marquis of Bisciye

We wish luck to the participants, and hope our own realm puts up a good showing there. And there better be lots of pie there.

Ruler Update

Lady Sorcha has stepped down from the position of Pontifex of Ibladesh, and Quake has been elected ruler once again. He also holds the position of banker. Soon afterwards, he sent a message to the rulers of the continent explaining the situation. An excerpt from the letter follows.

Rulers of the EC,

Since the health of My Lady Sorcha wasn't so good, she stepped down and the elections took place this turn. The people of Ibladesh elected me as there new Pontifex with a little 30% of the votes. There were many great candidates campaigning against me.

It feel great to be back here and I see many familiar faces here as well.

So how are things going these days? Anyone is willing to give me a little update? Sorcha was very active to tell us what's going around the last few weeks.

I would also like to state the Ibladesh will host a Tournament about 2 weeks from now if everything goes well. Of course if possible.

With Respect and Honor,

Quake Pontifex and Fiduciary of Ibladesh, Marquis of Bisciye

We are confident in his abilities to lead our allies to success, and wish him the best once again.

In other news, Lycastus has recently been elected Pontifex of Light of Fountain again.

A Departure and Faraway Invasion

Arlian, one of our occasional editors, left this morning for the island of Beluaterra. He announced his departure about a day and half ago with a letter explaining his reason:

Lords and Ladies of Itorunt, I am afraid it is time for me to move on. While I have enjoyed my stay here, Itorunt does not need me. There is peace, and all are content.

However, disturbing rumours have reached me of a new Invasion beginning. While I abhor war, I cannot stand by as undead and monsters ravage entire realms. I must do what I can to help the people of those about to face the onslaught of darkness.

It has been a pleasure, and perhaps I will return here one day.

My cousin Suzune has written me of this new and disturbing threat. I pray for her safety and the safety of all on the continent. Hopefully, this so called "Third Invasion" will be quickly dispatched, and we hope that Arlian will safely return to the glorious realm of Itorunt.

A Marshal Lost, a Marshal Appointed

Well, with the recent departure of High Marshal Wilfred, we have been looking for a replacement. Now, that replacement has been found, revealed to be none other than Count Alois. After being appointed, Alois made a speech to the realm, copied here:

Nobles of Itorunt,

I came to this realm not very long ago. I had fought against this realm, I had been labeled a spy and traitor and rebel. Yet, you welcomed me, and gave me a chance to prove that I was none of those things, and it has been my honour to faithfully serve this realm, and King Lucian ever since. Now I am honoured to take a position of leadership among you, and lead you all into battle, and out once more.

I have some big boots to fill. Wilfred was a great General, a good man, and a wonderful friend. He lead us during the Crusade to retake Kalmar, and he did a right fine job. Under him, we accomplished in two campaigns what it had taken our northern allies half a year to do; Route the rebellious scum.

Through force of arms, wonderful leadership, and our own honour, we have proven that this realm is a realm without equal.

I only hope I can fill his boots, and live up to the expectation of you all, and honourably fulfil the role of High Marshal as capablely as my predeccesors.

Alois
High Marshal of Itorunt, Count of Nimraw

I am certain he will lead us well in battle whenever we fight. We at the Itorunt Informer wish High Marshal Alois the best of luck in his future as High Marshal.
