On Belief on the Itorunt Empire

I) Itorunt recognizes that the welfare of its people, both noble and commoner alike, is an ever-pursued goal which its leadership strives to fulfill.

II) Itorunt recognizes that there are three aspects to every man: his Mind, his Body, and his Soul. All three must be in harmony individually and with each other in order to achieve happiness and fulfillment.

III) Itorunt demands for itself the dominion and loyalty of two of these aspects: the Minds and Bodies of the people. The Mind is to be loyal to the Crown and cunning for the betterment of the realm. The Body is to be willing to work and sacrifice for the improvement and defense of the realm, and to bring prosperity to family and community. Only the Crown of Itorunt and its representatives will actively or passively direct or influence these aspects of man.

IV) As a non-religious state, Itorunt recognizes that each man is free to fulfill the betterment of his soul, whether by religion, philosophy, or another personal choice. Itorunt officially refrains from exerting any direct influence on the Souls of its people.

V) Itorunt will seek to harmonize the Minds, Bodies and Souls of its people, and will take action to prevent any of these aspects (especially the Soul) from destroying this balance or otherwise harmfully affecting each other, including but not limited to:

Removal of any influence, either internal or foreign, that willingly or unwillingly promotes unrest against fellow citizens of different ideals, Itorunt´s crown, foreign powers that might affect Itorunt´s diplomacy, other religious institutions and their representatives, and any other secular or mundane aspect of life that might lead to discontent and unhappiness.

VI) Itorunt will secure and protect institutions and representatives of beliefs that wish to present their ideas to the people of Itorunt, provided that these groups have presented themselves and the basic tenets of their beliefs to the Crown and have received permission to act on Itorunt soil.

VII) Itorunt will swiftly and harshly remove any institution, including its representatives and estates, which fails to receive authorization from the crown or actively or passively subverts the intent of the Crown or other institutions. This includes institutions which had previously been granted permission to act on Itorunt soil.

VIII) Itorunt’s Arch Priest, as guardian and representative of the interests of the people of Itorunt, will supervise and judge compliance to this document. The Bureaucrats and other police forces will be his acting representatives and enforcers regarding religious issues.

IX) The Arch Priest and his representatives hold the right to detain, question, or investigate any activity or person suspected of acting outside the ruling of this document.

X) The Arch Priest, as an impartial arbiter in matters of religion, will refrain from publicly favoring any religion, philosophy, or belief. Like any other man, he is free to seek the fulfillment of his Soul in a private manner.
