On a street off the mainway in the city of Flowrestown, a small crowd gathers around an object covered by a cloth on the side of the street. Above, on a balcony, appears Lord Bowie all dressed in black with face concealed with a black mask and head covered with a hood. He gets the crowds attention and speaks thusly,

"In mourning, I must speak these words and dedicate this tribute to the memory of the deceased and to the memory of the lives this event deeply affected. Although Rathan was my rival and the cause of my banishment from D’Hara, and though I took to calling him Rathan the Snake, he was not my enemy. In fact, just like me, he was a scoundrel, a brigand of hearts, a wanderer and a villain. He was my only real peer, and he was the finest competition I had. With him no longer in the world, we deviant nobles are becoming an extinct breed. At the same time, I cannot put any blame or guilt on the head of Confessor Kisharianda, the Queen of Diamonds, for her decision. She had every cause to execute Rathan the Snake, and her realm applaudes her. I can only pray for a death at her gentle tender hands. I say that while most of you cheer and rejoice the news of this noble’s death, the few of us who knew Rathan and who cared about him know that Dwilight has lost one of her best. Goodbye my foe, when my neck finally hangs maybe I will get to shake your hand again, or, to punch you in the face for betraying me to the Dragon King. Either way, we have unfinished business and you will be missed.”

Lord Bowie leaves the balcony and returns to the private room. The cloth is dropped from the object and a small statue of a snake leaping into the air to catch a bird is displayed. On it is a plaque that says:

“In memorial of Lord Rathan Himoura. Executed in D’Hara, Winter of 9 YD.”
