Ironsides Family/Armstrong/Witchhunt

After Priest Andrew Cunningham inadvertently admitted that there were witches in Fontan, the Hero of Democracy took immediate action to root them out of his local region of Oberndorf. To do this, he organized the peasants into a group called the Second Accursed Committee situated in a room in his estate. It was called the Second committee because Lord Armstrong understood that if the first one was successful then there would have been no need for another.

The Hero of Democracy led the first patrol and took the first names of suspected witches in the region. The names were brought to the Supreme Justice but nothing was done about them. Lord Armstrong also brought the issue of the laws of witchcraft to then Supreme Justice Duncan Atreides who again did nothing about it.

The Second Accursed Committee rounded up many suspects in the region of Oberndorf but the Hero of Democracy lost track of the activities of the peasants and the matter waned. The problem of witchcraft in Fontan has not yet been solved, and despite the efforts of the committee, the nobility have never taken serious measures to stop occult activity.

During the Hero of Democracy’s organization of the Committee the witches frenzied monsters to attack the Lord’s estate. The battle was short and with few casualties, but it was a clear sign that diabolical resistance was present and active.

Other cases sighted to be proof of witchcraft involve an infiltrator from Caligus who attacked a Fontanese noble despite the recent peace treaty between these two realms. It was said that the infiltrator had to have been vexed by a witch to forget the war ended.

Since the mistrial, the witches have once again found the liberty to perform their black deeds beneath the knowledge of the Fontanese nobility. Every once and a while strange things occur that Lord Armstrong and others suspect to be the work of witches and because of this he is still committed to ridding the realm of the witch problem.

But because the law against witchcraft is not set and thereby invites the witches in, they have consolidated their power in regional covens and continue to operate undetected. It is an issue still very much alive.

No one knows what happened to the names on this list, and the peasants seem to be happy with this fact. The nobility have forgotten entirely.

During the short lived and inconclusive trial, Lord Armstrong produced this letter to the Supreme Justice as evidence for the witchcraft problem:

Supreme Justice,

I have sent a letter to the peasants in Oberndorf who have replied with the information I demanded. First, let me state some evidence I believe is connected to this heinous truth.

Evidence of witchcraftery:

Monsters attacked the gathering of the Second Accursed Committee in Oberndorf under the spell of witches the very day after I announced that I would uproot them from Fontan.

There was that Caligulan who attacked one of our knights despite the peace treaty, she must have been under influence of a witch.

Perhaps even the troubles with our regions always kicking out their Lords and becoming independent is the work of a witch coven.

You may consider these events unrelated, but when you look through the lens of witchcraft, or what I like to call "witchgoggles," then you can clearly see the connection they have. All are negative against our realm, and all have an inconclusive answer to why they happened. So I conclude that it was all the work of witches.

Now for the meat of this letter, the list I received from Oberndorf regarding the recent batch of witches and warlocks sacked by the peasants. Look at each case Supreme Justice, and truly judge whether or not they are involved in the conspiracy. I believe they all are.

The Damned:

Lydia Dernasty (her last name is a filthy rhyme with dynasty, she is a monarchist witch.)

Henry Horton (both his first name and last begin with H, also the first letter of Hecate, the queen of witches, he must be a warlock or a servant of a witch coven.)

Rina Shelldon (caught slaughtering a chicken over a picture of her husband, her husband later fell sick and died.)

Causia Bennasmusth (she is a foreigner from the Obsidian Isles, she must have brought her black magic from the Chaos Temple.)

Vicky Fenn (used profane language to her horse.)

Eunice Callivan (her farm animals fell sick and started to die, then her first born caught the sickness and is now bedridden. His condition is worsening, and his father has found his mother using unusual plants to harm him.)

Jacob Meters (a man who speaks very fast and lives as a hermit beneath a bridge. He was supposedly once a soldier for the Confederacy, a traitorous warlock.)

Old man Gerry (always found with alcohol in his bottle. This bottle must be under the charm of ‘never-empty.’ He was captured while urinating on a wagon.)

Mimi Gordon (speaks without using her mouth. Many swear they hear her voice when she never moves her lips or is sleeping.)

Thevian Sensrenny (a suspicious young man who does not socialize with his village. He is only seen at night, is described to be very pale and thin, and always wears black. His sister caught him putting her make-up on his face.)

Janice Albern (floats on water, and has been proven to way less than a duck by her neighbour Freddy, who performed the test on helpful advice from you nobles. This is an example of how we can work together to cleanse our land of voodoo vermin!)

Karl Breicht (caught seducing a snake with a flute. This is bestial magic, very dangerous.)

The Amazing Donovan Von Qor (a noted magician and spellcaster. He has been seen performing magic all over the region of Oberndorf. He is probably the strongest and most dangerous warlock caught so far.)

I do not think that any of these should be given the benefit of the doubt. Take this list as an example and search for more villains in our realm. They are out there and they are active. The Second Accursed Committee must stop them! We Fontanese must stop them!
